Isaia 48

1 Ascultaţi aceasta, casă a lui Iacob, care sunteţi numiţi după numele lui Israel şi aţi ieşit din apele lui Iuda, care juraţi pe numele DOMNULUI şi amintiţi despre Dumnezeul lui Israel, dar nu în adevăr, nici în dreptate.

Hear ye this—O house of Jacob, Ye who call yourselves by the name of Israel, Yea from the waters of Judah, came they forth, —Who swear by the name of Yahweh, And, by the God of Israel, call to remembrance—Not in truth, nor in righteousness;

2 Fiindcă se numesc pe ei înşişi după cetatea sfântă şi se sprijină pe Dumnezeul lui Israel; DOMNUL oştirilor este numele său.

For of the holy city, do they call themselves, And on the God of Israel, do they stay themselves, —Yahweh of hosts, is his name.

3 Am vestit de la început lucrurile din vechime; şi au ieşit din gura mea şi le-am arătat; le-am făcut dintr-odată şi s-au întâmplat.

Things in advance, of old, I declared, Yea out of mine own mouth, came they forth, that I might let them be known, —Suddenly, I wrought and they came to pass.

4 Deoarece am ştiut că tu eşti încăpăţânat şi gâtul tău este un tendon de fier şi sprânceana ta de aramă;

Because I knew that—Obstinate, thou wast, —And, a sinew of iron, was thy neck, And thy brow, brazen,

5 Ţi-am vestit de la început; înainte să se fi întâmplat ţi-am arătat, ca nu cumva să spui: Idolul meu le-a făcut şi chipul meu cioplit şi chipul meu turnat le-a poruncit.

therefore told I thee—in time past, Ere yet it came, I let thee hear, —Lest thou shouldest say Mine idol wrought them, Yea, my carved image and my molten image, commanded them!

6 Tu ai auzit; priveşte toate acestea; şi refuzaţi să [le] vestiţi? Ţi-am arătat lucruri noi din acest timp, chiar lucruri ascunse şi nu le-ai cunoscut.

Thou hast heard—see it whole, And will, ye, not tell? I have let thee hear new things—from the present time, Even secrets which ye knew not.

7 Acum sunt create şi nu de la început; chiar înaintea zilei acesteia nu le-ai auzit; ca nu cumva să spui: Iată, le-am ştiut.

Now, are they created, and not in time past, And, before to-day, thou hadst not heard of them, —Lest thou shouldest say, Lo! I knew them!

8 Da, nu le-ai auzit; da, nu le-ai cunoscut; da, din acel timp când urechea ta nu a fost deschisă, fiindcă am ştiut că te vei purta foarte perfid şi din pântece ai fost numit un încălcător [de lege].

Nay! thou hadst not heard, Nay! thou hadst not known, Nay! in time past, thine ear, was not opened, —For I knew that thou, wouldst be treacherous, Yea a transgressor from birth, hast thou been called.

9 De dragul numelui meu îmi voi amâna mânia şi pentru lauda mea mă voi abţine pentru tine, ca să nu te stârpesc.

For the sake of mine own Name, will I defer mine anger, And for my praise, will I restrain myself towards thee, —So as not to cut thee off.

10 Iată, te-am curăţat, dar nu cu argint; te-am ales în cuptorul de necaz.

Lo! I have refined thee, but not as silver, —I have tested thee, in a smelting-pot of affliction.

11 De dragul meu, chiar de dragul meu, o voi face, căci cum să fie numele meu murdărit? Şi nu voi da gloria mea altuia.

For mine own sake—for mine own sake, will I effectually work For how should it be profaned? And, my glory—to another, will I not give.

12 Daţi-mi ascultare, Iacob şi Israel, cei chemaţi ai mei; eu sunt el; eu sunt cel dintâi, şi cel de pe urmă.

Hearken unto me O Jacob, And Israel, my called one, —I, am, the Same I, the first, yea, I, the last:

13 Mâna mea de asemenea a întemeiat pământul şi dreapta mea a întins cerurile, când le chem, ele se ridică în picioare împreună.

Surely, mine own hand, founded the earth, And, my right hand, stretched out the heavens, —While I was calling unto them, they stood forth, at once

14 Voi toţi, adunaţi-vă şi ascultaţi; cine dintre ei a vestit aceste lucruri? DOMNUL l-a iubit, el îşi va împlini plăcerea asupra Babilonului şi braţul său va fi asupra caldeenilor.

Assemble yourselves—all of you and hear, Who among them, hath told these things? he whom Yahweh loveth, will execute—His pleasure, on Babylon, And his stroke on the Chaldeans.

15 Eu, chiar eu, am vorbit; da, l-am chemat, l-am adus şi îşi va face calea prosperă.

I—I, have spoken, Yea I have called him, —I have brought him in, and he shall make prosperous his way.

16 Apropiaţi-vă de mine, ascultaţi aceasta; nu am vorbit în taină de la început; de când au fost aceste lucruri, eu sunt acolo; şi acum Domnul DUMNEZEU şi Duhul său m-a trimis.

Draw ye near unto me—hear ye this, Not in advance in secret, have I spoken, From the very time it cometh into being, there, am I, —And, now, My Lord Yahweh hath sent me and his spirit.

17 Astfel spune DOMNUL, Răscumpărătorul tău, Cel Sfânt al lui Israel: Eu sunt DOMNUL Dumnezeul tău care te învaţă ce îţi este de folos, care te duce pe calea pe care trebuie să mergi.

Thus saith Yahweh—Thy Redeemer, The Holy One of Israel, —I—Yahweh, am thy God, Teaching thee to profit, Guiding thee in the way thou shouldest go.

18 O de ai fi dat ascultare poruncilor mele! Atunci pacea ta ar fi fost ca un râu şi dreptatea ta ca valurile mării;

Oh! that thou hadst hearkened to my commandments, —Then had been, like a river, thy prosperity, And, thy righteousness, like the waves of the sea:

19 Sămânţa ta de asemenea ar fi fost ca nisipul şi urmaşii adâncurilor tale ca pietrişul acesteia; numele său nu trebuia nici stârpit, nici nimicit dinaintea mea.

Then had been, like the sand, thy seed, And, the offspring of thy body, like the grains thereof, —Neither cut off nor destroyed had been his name from before me.

20 Ieşiţi din Babilon, fugiţi de caldei, vestiţi cu o voce de cântare, spuneţi aceasta, rostiţi aceasta până la capătul pământului; spuneţi: DOMNUL a răscumpărat pe servitorul său Iacob.

Come ye forth out of Babylon, Flee from among the Chaldeans, With triumphant voice, tell ye—let this be heard, Let it go forth as far as the end of the earth, —Say ye—Yahweh hath redeemed his servant Jacob!

21 Şi ei nu au însetat când el i-a condus prin pustiuri, a făcut apele să curgă din stâncă pentru ei, a despicat de asemenea stânca şi apele au ţâşnit.

And they thirsted not, when, through dry places, he led them, Waters out of the rock, caused he to flow out to them, —Yea be cleft a rock and, there gushed out waters:

22 Nu este pace pentru cei stricaţi, spune DOMNUL.

No well-being, saith Yahweh to the lawless,
