Isaia 41
1 Tăceţi înaintea mea, insule; şi să [îşi] înnoiască poporul tăria, să se apropie; să vorbească atunci, să ne apropiem împreună la judecată.
Keep silence before me, O islands; and let the people renew their strength: let them come near; then let them speak: let us come near together to judgment.
2 Cine a ridicat pe cel drept din est, l-a chemat la piciorul său, i-a dat naţiunile înaintea lui şi l-a făcut să conducă peste împăraţi? I-a dat ca praf sabiei lui [şi] ca paie alungate arcului său.
Who raised up the righteous man from the east, called him to his foot, gave the nations before him, and made him rule over kings? he gave them as the dust to his sword, and as driven stubble to his bow.
3 I-a urmărit [şi] a trecut în siguranţă, pe calea neumblată de picioarele lui.
He pursued them, and passed safely; even by the way that he had not gone with his feet.
4 Cine a lucrat-o şi a făcut-o, chemând generaţiile de la început? Eu, DOMNUL, sunt cel dintâi şi cel din urmă; Eu sunt el.
Who has worked and done it, calling the generations from the beginning? I the LORD, the first, and with the last; I am he.
5 Insulele au văzut şi s-au temut; marginile pământului s-au înspăimântat, s-au apropiat şi au venit.
The isles saw it, and feared; the ends of the earth were afraid, drew near, and came.
6 Ei au ajutat fiecare pe aproapele său; şi fiecare a spus fratelui său: Încurajează-te.
They helped every one his neighbor; and every one said to his brother, Be of good courage.
7 Astfel tâmplarul a încurajat pe aurar [şi] cel care finisează cu ciocanul pe cel care a lovit nicovala, spunând: Este gata pentru sudură şi l-a fixat în cuie, să nu fie mişcat.
So the carpenter encouraged the goldsmith, and he that smoothes with the hammer him that smote the anvil, saying, It is ready for the soldering: and he fastened it with nails, that it should not be moved.
8 Dar tu, Israel, eşti servitorul meu, Iacob, cel pe care l-am ales, sămânţa lui Avraam, prietenul meu.
But you, Israel, are my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham my friend.
9 Tu, cel pe care l-am luat de la marginile pământului şi te-am chemat dintre cei mai de seamă bărbaţi ai acestuia şi ţi-am spus: Tu eşti servitorul meu; te-am ales şi nu te-am lepădat.
You whom I have taken from the ends of the earth, and called you from the chief men thereof, and said to you, You are my servant; I have chosen you, and not cast you away.
10 Nu te teme, căci eu sunt cu tine; nu te descuraja căci eu sunt Dumnezeul tău; te voi întări; da, te voi ajuta; da, te voi susţine cu dreapta dreptăţii mele.
Fear you not; for I am with you: be not dismayed; for I am your God: I will strengthen you; yes, I will help you; yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness.
11 Iată, toţi cei care s-au aprins împotriva ta vor fi ruşinaţi şi încurcaţi, vor fi ca nimic; şi cei care se luptă cu tine vor pieri.
Behold, all they that were incensed against you shall be ashamed and confounded: they shall be as nothing; and they that strive with you shall perish.
12 Îi vei căuta şi nu îi vei găsi, pe cei care s-au certat cu tine, cei care se războiesc împotriva ta vor fi ca nimic şi ca un lucru de nimic.
You shall seek them, and shall not find them, even them that contended with you: they that war against you shall be as nothing, and as a thing of nothing.
13 Fiindcă eu, DOMNUL Dumnezeul tău, îţi voi ţine mâna dreaptă, spunându-ţi: Nu te teme; te voi ajuta.
For I the LORD your God will hold your right hand, saying to you, Fear not; I will help you.
14 Nu te teme, tu, vierme Iacob [şi] voi bărbaţi ai lui Israel; te voi ajuta, spune DOMNUL şi răscumpărătorul tău, Cel Sfânt al lui Israel.
Fear not, you worm Jacob, and you men of Israel; I will help you, says the LORD, and your redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.
15 Iată, te voi face o unealtă de vânturat nouă şi ascuţită cu dinţi, vei vântura munţii şi îi vei pisa mărunt şi vei face dealurile ca pleava.
Behold, I will make you a new sharp threshing instrument having teeth: you shall thresh the mountains, and beat them small, and shall make the hills as chaff.
16 Le vei vântura şi vântul le va duce şi vârtejul de vânt le va împrăştia, iar tu te vei bucura în DOMNUL [şi] te vei făli în Cel Sfânt al lui Israel.
You shall fan them, and the wind shall carry them away, and the whirlwind shall scatter them: and you shall rejoice in the LORD, and shall glory in the Holy One of Israel.
17 Când săracii şi nevoiaşii caută apă şi nu este şi limba lor se sfârşeşte de sete, eu, DOMNUL, îi voi asculta; eu, Dumnezeul lui Israel, nu îi voi părăsi.
When the poor and needy seek water, and there is none, and their tongue fails for thirst, I the LORD will hear them, I the God of Israel will not forsake them.
18 Voi deschide râuri în locuri înalte şi fântâni în mijlocul văilor, din pustiu voi face un iaz de apă; şi pământul uscat, izvoare de apă.
I will open rivers in high places, and fountains in the middle of the valleys: I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water.
19 Voi sădi în pustiu cedrul, salcâmul şi mirtul şi măslinul; voi pune în pustiu împreună bradul şi pinul şi merişorul,
I will plant in the wilderness the cedar, the shittah tree, and the myrtle, and the oil tree; I will set in the desert the fir tree, and the pine, and the box tree together:
20 Să vadă şi să ştie şi să ia aminte şi să înţeleagă împreună, că mâna DOMNULUI a făcut aceasta şi Cel Sfânt al lui Israel l-a creat.
That they may see, and know, and consider, and understand together, that the hand of the LORD has done this, and the Holy One of Israel has created it.
21 Arătaţi cauza voastră, spune DOMNUL; aduceţi [argumentele] voastre puternice, spune Împăratul lui Iacob.
Produce your cause, says the LORD; bring forth your strong reasons, says the King of Jacob.
22 Să le aducă înainte şi să ne arate ce se va întâmpla, să arate lucrurile dinainte, ce sunt ele, să luăm aminte la ele şi să cunoaştem sfârşitul lor; sau vestiţi-ne lucrurile ce vor veni.
Let them bring them forth, and show us what shall happen: let them show the former things, what they be, that we may consider them, and know the latter end of them; or declare us things for to come.
23 Arătaţi lucrurile ce vor veni pe urmă, să cunoaştem că voi sunteţi dumnezei; da, faceţi bine, sau faceţi rău, ca să ne descurajăm şi să le privim împreună.
Show the things that are to come hereafter, that we may know that you are gods: yes, do good, or do evil, that we may be dismayed, and behold it together.
24 Iată, voi sunteţi de nimic şi lucrarea voastră de nimic, o urâciune este cel care vă alege.
Behold, you are of nothing, and your work of nothing: an abomination is he that chooses you.
25 Am ridicat pe unul din nord şi va veni, de la răsăritul soarelui va chema el numele meu; şi va veni peste prinţi ca peste mortar şi precum olarul calcă în picioare lutul.
I have raised up one from the north, and he shall come: from the rising of the sun shall he call on my name: and he shall come on princes as on mortar, and as the potter treads clay.
26 Cine a vestit de la început, ca să ştim? Şi înainte de timp, ca să spunem: El este drept, da, nu este nimeni care arată, da, nu este nimeni care vesteşte, da, nu este nimeni care aude cuvintele voastre.
Who has declared from the beginning, that we may know? and beforetime, that we may say, He is righteous? yes, there is none that shows, yes, there is none that declares, yes, there is none that hears your words.
27 Cel dintâi va spune Sionului: Iată, iată-i; şi voi da Ierusalimului pe unul care aduce veşti bune.
The first shall say to Zion, Behold, behold them: and I will give to Jerusalem one that brings good tidings.
28 Fiindcă am privit şi nu a fost vreun om, nici chiar printre ei; şi nu a fost vreun sfătuitor, care, când i-am întrebat, să poată răspunde vreun cuvânt.
For I beheld, and there was no man; even among them, and there was no counselor, that, when I asked of them, could answer a word.
29 Iată, ei sunt toţi deşertăciune; faptele lor sunt nimic, chipurile lor turnate sunt vânt şi confuzie.
Behold, they are all vanity; their works are nothing: their molten images are wind and confusion.
