Isaia 31
1 Vai celor ce coboară în Egipt pentru ajutor şi se sprijină pe cai şi se încred în care, pentru că sunt multe, şi în călăreţi, pentru că sunt foarte tari, dar nu privesc la Cel Sfânt al lui Israel, nici nu caută pe DOMNUL!
Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help, And put their trust in horses, And confide in chariots, because they are many, And in horsemen, because their number is great, But look not to the Holy One of Israel, And resort not to Jehovah.
2 Şi totuşi el este înţelept şi va aduce răul şi nu îşi va retrage cuvintele, ci se va ridica împotriva casei făcătorilor de rău şi împotriva ajutorului celor ce lucrează nelegiuire.
Yet he, too, is wise; He will bring evil, and not take back his words; He will arise against the house of the evil-doers, And against the help of them that do iniquity.
3 Dar egiptenii sunt oameni şi nu Dumnezeu; şi caii lor carne şi nu duh. Când DOMNUL îşi va întinde mâna, deopotrivă cel care ajută va cădea şi cel care este ajutat se va poticni şi toţi vor pieri împreună.
The Egyptians are men, and not God, And their horses are flesh, and not spirit. When Jehovah shall stretch forth his hand, Then shall the helper fall, and the helped be overthrown; And they shall all perish together.
4 Fiindcă astfel mi-a vorbit DOMNUL: Ca leul şi leul tânăr ce răcneşte la prada sa, când o mulţime de păstori este chemată împotriva lui, nu îi va fi teamă de vocea lor, nici nu se va înjosi din cauza zgomotului lor, astfel DOMNUL oştirilor va coborî să lupte pentru muntele Sion şi pentru dealul acestuia.
For thus hath Jehovah said to me: As when the lion and the young lion growl over their prey, And a multitude of shepherds is called forth against him, By their noise he is not terrified, Nor by their tumult disheartened; So shall Jehovah of hosts come down to fight for mount Zion, and her hill.
5 Precum păsările care zboară, astfel va apăra DOMNUL oştirilor Ierusalimul; apărându-l, de asemenea îl va elibera; şi, trecând pe deasupra, îl va păstra.
As birds hover over their young, So shall Jehovah of hosts defend Jerusalem; He will defend and deliver, spare and save.
6 Întoarceţi-vă către cel împotriva căruia copiii lui Israel s-au răzvrătit atât de mult.
Turn, O ye children of Israel, To him from whom ye have so deeply revolted! For in that day shall every one cast away his idols of
7 Fiindcă în acea zi fiecare om îşi va arunca idolii din argint şi idolii lui din aur, pe care propriile voastre mâini vi i-au făcut pentru păcat.
silver and his idols of gold, Which your hands have made for sin.
8 Atunci va cădea asirianul prin sabie, nu printr-un viteaz; şi sabia îl va mânca, dar nu a unui om rău; şi el va fugi de sabie şi tinerii lui vor fi învinşi.
The Assyrian shall fall by a sword not of man, Yea, a sword not of mortal shall devour him; He shall flee before the sword, And his young warriors shall be slaves.
9 Şi de frică va trece spre întăritura lui şi prinţii lui se vor teme de însemn, spune DOMNUL, a cărui foc este în Sion şi al cărui cuptor în Ierusalim.
Through fear shall he pass beyond his stronghold, And his princes shall be afraid of the standard. Thus saith Jehovah, who hath his fire in Zion, And his furnace in Jerusalem.
