Isaia 28
1 Vai coroanei mândriei, beţivilor lui Efraim, a cărei frumuseţe glorioasă este o floare ce se vestejeşte, care este pe capul văilor grase ale celor ce sunt învinşi de vin!
Woe to the crown of pride, of the drunkards of Ephraim, and to the fading flower of his glorious ornament, which is on the eminence of the fat valley of those who are struck down by wine!
2 Iată, Domnul are pe unul puternic şi tare, care, ca o vijelie de grindină şi o furtună distrugătoare, ca un potop de ape puternice ce se revarsă, o va doborî la pământ cu mâna.
Behold, [it cometh] mighty and strong from the Lord, as a tempest of hail, a storm of destruction; as a tempest of mighty overflowing waters, will he cast it down to the earth with force.
3 Coroana mândriei, beţivii lui Efraim, va fi călcată în picioare,
Under feet shall be trodden the crown of pride of the drunkards of Ephraim:
4 Şi frumuseţea glorioasă, care este pe capul văii grase, va fi o floare ce se vestejeşte şi ca un rod timpuriu înaintea verii; pe care cel care îl priveşte, văzându[-l], îl mănâncă până îl mai are în mână.
And the fading flower of his glorious ornament, which is on the eminence of the fat valley, shall be as its early ripe fruit before the summer; which one, when he just seeth it, while it is scarcely in his hand, hastily devoureth.
5 În acea zi DOMNUL oştirilor îi va fi o coroană de glorie şi o diademă de frumuseţe pentru rămăşiţa poporului său,
On that day will the Lord of hosts be for a crown of glory, and for a diadem of beauty, unto the residue of his people,
6 Şi duh de judecată pentru cel ce şade la judecată şi tărie pentru cei ce împing bătălia înapoi la poartă.
And for a spirit of judgment to him that sitteth in judgment, and for strength to those that drive back the battle to the gate [of the enemy].
7 Dar ei de asemenea au rătăcit prin vin şi prin băutură tare sunt abătuţi de pe cale; preotul şi profetul au rătăcit prin băutură tare, sunt înghiţiţi de vin, sunt abătuţi de pe cale prin băutură tare; rătăcesc în viziune, se poticnesc în judecată.
But these also are now stumbling through wine, and reeling through strong drink: priest and prophet are stumbling through strong drink, they are overpowered with wine, they reel through strong drink; they stumble in [divine] vision, they are unsteady in giving judgment.
8 Căci toate mesele sunt pline de vomă şi murdărie, încât nu este loc curat.
For all tables are full of vomit of filthiness, there is no place [clean].
9 Pe cine va învăţa el cunoaştere? şi pe cine va face să înţeleagă doctrină? [P]e [cei] înţărcaţi de lapte [şi] luaţi de la sâni.
Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he give to understand doctrine? those that are weaned from the milk, those that are taken from the breasts.
10 Fiindcă precept trebuie să fie peste precept, precept peste precept; rând peste rând, rând peste rând; aici puţin şi acolo puţin;
For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little.
11 Căci cu buze bâlbâite şi o altă limbă va vorbi el acestui popor.
For [as] with stammering lips and a foreign tongue will he speak to this people;
12 Căruia i-a spus: Aceasta este odihna cu care să faceţi pe cel obosit să se odihnească; şi aceasta este răcorirea; totuşi ei au refuzat să asculte.
When he said unto them, This is the rest, cause ye the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing; but they would not hear.
13 Dar cuvântul DOMNULUI le-a fost precept peste precept, precept peste precept; rând peste rând, rând peste rând; aici puţin [şi] acolo puţin; ca ei să meargă şi să cadă pe spate şi să fie frânţi şi prinşi şi luaţi.
Therefore shall be unto them the word of the Lord, precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; in order that they may go, and stumble backward, and be broken, and snared, and caught.
14 De aceea ascultaţi cuvântul DOMNULUI, voi oameni batjocoritori, care domniţi peste acest popor care este în Ierusalim.
Therefore hear the word of the Lord, ye scornful men, who rule this people that is in Jerusalem.
15 Fiindcă aţi spus: Am făcut legământ cu moartea şi cu iadul avem o înţelegere; când va trece urgia copleşitoare nu va veni la noi; căci din minciuni ne-am făcut un loc de scăpare şi ne-am ascuns sub falsitate; (Sheol h7585)
Because ye have said, “We have entered into a covenant with death, and with the nether world have we made an agreement; the overflowing scourge, when it passeth by, shall not come at us; for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we sought a hiding-place.” (Sheol h7585)
16 De aceea astfel spune Domnul DUMNEZEU: Iată, eu pun în Sion, ca temelie, o piatră, o piatră încercată, o preţioasă piatră unghiulară, o temelie sigură; cel ce crede nu se va grăbi.
Therefore thus hath said the Lord Eternal, Behold, I have laid in Zion as a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a costly corner-stone, well founded: he that believeth will not make haste.
17 Şi voi pune judecată în frânghia de măsurat şi dreptate în firul cu plumb; şi grindina va mătura locul de scăpare al minciunilor şi apele vor inunda ascunzişul.
And I will make of justice a measuring line, and of righteousness a plummet: and the hail shall sweep off the refuge of lies, and the hiding-place against the waters shall these flood away.
18 Şi legământul vostru cu moartea va fi anulat şi înţelegerea voastră cu iadul nu va rămâne în picioare; când va trece urgia copleşitoare, veţi fi călcaţi de ea. (Sheol h7585)
And your covenant with death shall be annulled, and your agreement with the nether world shall not have permanence; the overflowing scourge, when it passeth by—then shall ye be trodden down by it. (Sheol h7585)
19 De câte ori trece, vă va lua; căci dimineaţă de dimineaţă va trece, ziua şi noaptea; şi va fi o chinuire doar ca să înţelegeţi mărturia.
As often as it passeth by shall it take you; for morning by morning shall it pass by, by day and by night; and the mere understanding of the report shall cause terror.
20 Fiindcă patul este mai scurt decât se poate întinde în el un om; şi acoperitoarea mai îngustă decât să se poată înveli în ea.
For the bed shall be too short for [a man] to stretch himself out [on it]: and the covering too narrow to wrap himself in.
21 Căci DOMNUL se va ridica precum în muntele Peraţim, se va înfuria ca în valea Gabaonului, ca să îşi facă lucrarea, lucrarea lui străină; şi să împlinească fapta lui, fapta lui neobişnuită.
For as on mount Perazim will the Lord rise up, as in the valley of Gib'on will he be wroth, that he may do his work, his singular work; and to accomplish his labor, his strange labor.
22 Acum de aceea nu fiţi batjocoritori, ca nu cumva să vă fie întărite legăturile; căci am auzit de la Domnul DUMNEZEUL oştirilor o mistuire, hotărâtă peste tot pământul.
And now be ye no longer scornful, lest your bonds be made strong; for as completed and fully decreed have I heard it from the Lord Eternal of hosts over all the earth.
23 Plecaţi urechea şi ascultaţi-mi vocea; luaţi seama şi ascultaţi vorbirea mea.
Give ye ear, and hear my voice; listen, and hear my speech.
24 Ară plugarul toată ziua pentru a semăna? Deschide el şi sparge brazdele pământului său?
Doth the ploughman plough all the time to sow? doth he open and harrow his ground [continually]?
25 Când a îndreptat faţa acestuia, nu aruncă departe măzărichile şi nu împrăştie chimenul şi nu aruncă grâul în rânduri şi orzul rânduit şi alacul la locul lor?
Is it not so? that, when he hath made level its surface he scattereth fennel, and streweth about cumin, and planteth the wheat in rows, and barley on its assigned [place], and millet on its proper spot?
26 Fiindcă Dumnezeul lui îl instruieşte spre discernere şi îl învaţă.
For his God instructed him rightly, taught him [so to do].
27 Căci măzărichile nu se vântură cu o unealtă ascuţită, nici roată de căruţ nu se întoarce peste chimen, ci măzărichile sunt bătute cu un toiag şi chimenul cu o nuia.
Truly not with a threshing instrument is fennel threshed, and a wagon-wheel is not turned about upon cumin; but fennel is beaten out with a staff, and cumin with a stick.
28 Grânele de pâine sunt măcinate, deoarece nu le va vântura pentru totdeauna; nici nu le va sfărâma cu roata carului său, nici nu le va măcina cu călăreţii lui.
Bread-corn is crushed; but not for ever doth [man] keep threshing it; and though he drive over it the wheel of his wagon and his horses, he will not [thereby] crush it.
29 Aceasta de asemenea vine de la DOMNUL oştirilor, care este minunat în sfat [şi] măreţ în lucrare.
This also cometh forth from the Lord of hosts; wonderful is he in counsel, and excellent in [his] wise deeds.
