Isaia 21
1 Povara deşertului mării. Precum trec vârtejurile de vânt din sud, la fel vine din deşert, dintr-o ţară înfricoşătoare.
The doom of the desert by the sea. As tempests in the south blow with fury; so doth it come from the desert, from a terrible land.
2 O viziune apăsătoare îmi este arătată; cel perfid se poartă cu perfidie şi prădătorul pradă. Urcă-te, Elame, asediază tu Medio! Am făcut să înceteze tot suspinul lor.
A hard vision hath been told unto me; the traitor dealeth treacherously, and the spoiler spoileth. “Go up, O 'Elam; besiege, O Media;” all sighing have I caused to cease.
3 De aceea coapsele mele sunt umplute cu durere; junghiuri m-au apucat, ca junghiurile unei femei care [suferă] durerile naşterii; am fost încovoiat la auzirea ei; am fost descurajat la vederea ei.
Therefore are my loins filled with pain; pangs have seized me, like the pangs of a woman that travaileth: I am too much cramped to hear; I am too much dismayed to see.
4 Inima mea a tânjit, groaza m-a înspăimântat; el mi-a prefăcut în frică noaptea plăcerii mele.
My heart wandereth astray, dread affrighteth me: the evening of my pleasure hath he turned unto me into terror.
5 Pregătiţi masa, vegheaţi în turnul de veghere, mâncaţi, beţi; ridicaţi-vă, prinţilor, şi ungeţi scutul.
Prepare the table, put on the candlesticks, eat, drink: arise, ye princes, and anoint the shield.
6 Fiindcă astfel mi-a spus Domnul: Du-te, pune un paznic, să vestească ce vede.
For thus hath said unto me the Lord, Go, set the watchman, what he seeth let him tell.
7 Iar el a văzut un car cu doi călăreţi, un car cu măgari [şi] un car cu cămile; şi le-a dat bine ascultare, cu multă atenţie;
And he will see chariots, horsemen in couples, riders on asses, riders on camels; and he shall listen diligently with much heed:
8 Şi a strigat: Un leu, Domnul meu, stau continuu în turnul de veghere în timpul zilei şi sunt pus în postul meu nopţi întregi;
And he calleth [like] a lion, Upon the watchtower, O Lord, do I stand continually in the daytime, and on my ward am I set all the nights.
9 Şi, iată, se apropie un car cu bărbaţi, cu doi călăreţi. Iar el a răspuns şi a zis: Babilonul a căzut, a căzut; şi toate chipurile cioplite ale dumnezeilor lui le-a zdrobit la pământ.
And, behold, here cometh a chariot with men, horsemen in couples, and he commenceth and saith, Fallen, fallen is Babylon; and all the graven images of her gods hath he shivered unto the ground.
10 Treieratul meu şi grânele ariei mele, ceea ce am auzit de la DOMNUL oştirilor, Dumnezeul lui Israel, v-am vestit!
O my down-trodden [people, ] and the son of my threshingfloor: that which I have heard from the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, have I told unto you.
11 Povara lui Duma. Mă cheamă din Seir: Paznicule, cât din noapte? Paznicule, cât din noapte?
The doom of Dumah. Unto me one calleth out of Se'ir, Watchman, what of the night? Watchman, what of the night?
12 Paznicul a spus: Dimineaţa vine şi de asemenea noaptea; dacă veţi cerceta, cercetaţi; întoarceţi-vă, veniţi.
The watchman said, The morning cometh, and also the night: if ye will desire, desire ye; return, come again.
13 Povara asupra Arabiei. În pădurea Arabiei veţi poposi, voi, caravane din Dedanim.
The doom upon Arabia. In the forest in Arabia shall ye lodge, O ye caravans of Dedanim.
14 Locuitorii ţării Tema au adus apă celui însetat, l-au întâmpinat cu pâinea lor pe cel care fugea.
Toward him that is thirsty they bring water; the inhabitants of the land of Thema meet with suitable bread the fugitive.
15 Căci ei au fugit de săbii, de sabia scoasă şi de arcul încordat şi de apăsarea războiului.
Because from the swords are they fled, from the drawn sword, and from the bent bow, and from the pressure of war.
16 Fiindcă astfel mi-a spus Domnul: Mai puţin de un an, conform anilor unui angajat, şi toată gloria Chedarului se va sfârşi;
For thus hath said the Lord unto me, Within yet one year, like the years of a hired laborer, shall all the glory of Kedar be at an end:
17 Şi rămăşiţa numărului de arcaşi, războinici ai copiilor Chedarului, va fi micşorată, căci DOMNUL Dumnezeul lui Israel a vorbit.
And the residue of the number of bows of the mighty men of the children of Kedar shall be small; for the Lord the God of Israel hath spoken it.
