Osea 12
1 Efraim se hrăneşte cu vânt şi urmăreşte vântul de est; zilnic înmulţeşte minciuni şi pustiire; şi ei fac un legământ cu asirienii, şi untdelemnul este dus în Egipt.
“Ephraim is enjoying wind, And is pursuing an east wind, All the day he multiplies lying and spoiling, And they make a covenant with Asshur, And oil is carried to Egypt.
2 DOMNUL are de asemenea o ceartă cu Iuda şi va pedepsi pe Iacob conform căilor lui; conform faptelor lui îi va răsplăti.
And YHWH has a controversy with Judah, To lay a charge on Jacob according to his ways, He returns to him according to his doings.
3 În pântece el a apucat de călcâi pe fratele său şi prin tăria lui a avut putere cu Dumnezeu;
In the womb he took his brother by the heel, And by his strength he was a prince with God,
4 Da, a avut putere asupra îngerului şi a învins; el a plâns şi i-a făcut cerere; l-a găsit în Betel şi acolo a vorbit cu noi;
Indeed, he is a prince to the Messenger, And he overcomes [by] weeping, And he makes supplication to Him, At Bethel He finds him, And there He speaks with us,
5 Chiar DOMNUL Dumnezeul oştirilor; DOMNUL este amintirea lui.
Even YHWH, God of the Hosts, YHWH [is] His memorial.
6 De aceea întoarce-te la Dumnezeul tău, păzeşte mila şi judecata şi aşteaptă pe Dumnezeul tău continuu.
And you, through your God, turn, Keep kindness and judgment, And wait on your God continually.
7 El este un comerciant, balanţele înşelăciunii sunt în mâna lui; îi place să oprime.
Canaan! In his hand [are] balances of deceit! He has loved to oppress.
8 Şi Efraim a spus: Totuşi m-am îmbogăţit, mi-am găsit avere; în toate muncile mele ei nu vor găsi nicio nelegiuire în mine care să fie păcat.
And Ephraim says, Surely I have become rich, I have found wealth for myself, All my labors—they do not find against me iniquity that [is] sin.
9 Şi eu care sunt DOMNUL Dumnezeul tău din ţara Egiptului te voi face totuşi să locuieşti în corturi, ca în zilele sărbătorii solemne.
And I—your God YHWH from the land of Egypt, Again I turn you back into tents, As in the days of the appointed time.
10 Am vorbit de asemenea prin profeţi şi am înmulţit viziuni şi am folosit asemănări prin serviciul profeţilor.
And I have spoken to the prophets, And I have multiplied vision, And by the hand of the prophets I use allegories.
11 Este nelegiuire în Galaad? Într-adevăr ei sunt deşertăciune; în Ghilgal sacrifică tauri; da, altarele lor sunt ca ruine în brazdele ogoarelor.
Surely Gilead [is] iniquity, They have been only vanity, In Gilead they have sacrificed bullocks, Also their altars [are] as heaps, on the furrows of a field.
12 Şi Iacob a fugit în ţara Siriei şi Israel a servit pentru o soţie, şi pentru o soţie a păzit oi.
And Jacob flees to the country of Aram, And Israel serves for a wife, Indeed, he has kept watch for a wife.
13 Şi printr-un profet, DOMNUL l-a scos pe Israel din Egipt şi printr-un profet a fost păstrat.
And by a prophet has YHWH brought up Israel out of Egypt, And by a prophet it has been watched.
14 Efraim l-a provocat amar la mânie; de aceea va lăsa sângele lui asupra lui, şi ocara lui Domnul său o va întoarce la el.
Ephraim has most bitterly provoked, And he leaves his blood on himself, And his Lord turns his reproach back to him!”
