Habacuc 2
1 Îmi voi face garda și mă voi așeza pe turn și voi veghea să văd ce îmi va spune și ce îi voi răspunde când voi fi mustrat.
Upon my watch-tower, will I stand, and will station myself upon the bulwark, —so will I keep outlook, to see—what he will speak with me, and what I shall reply, when I am reproved.
2 Și DOMNUL mi-a răspuns și a zis: Scrie viziunea și lămurește-o pe table, ca să fugă cel ce o citește.
Then Yahweh answered me, and said, Write the vision, Yea, make it plain on tablets, that one may swiftly read it;
3 Pentru că viziunea este pentru încă un timp rânduit, dar la sfârșit va vorbi și nu va minți; deși întârzie, așteapt-o, pentru că va veni cu siguranță, nu va întârzia.
For yet is the vision for an appointed time, still, it presseth towards an end, and will not deceive, —if it tarry, wait thou for it, for it, surely cometh, —will not be too late.
4 Iată, sufletul lui care este înălțat, nu este integru în el, dar cel drept va trăi prin credința lui.
Lo! as for the conceited one, crooked is his soul within him, - but, one who is righteous, by his faithfulness, shall live.
5 Da, de asemenea, pentru că el calcă legea prin vin, el este un om mândru, nici nu stă acasă, el, care își lărgește dorința lui ca iadul și este ca moartea și nu poate fi săturat, dar adună la el toate națiunile și îngrămădește la el toate popoarele; (Sheol h7585)
Moreover also, when wine betrayeth, a man, is arrogant, and findeth no rest, —because he hath enlarged, like hades, his desire, yea, he, is like death, and cannot be satisfied, —but hath gathered unto himself, all the nations, and assembled unto himself, all the peoples. (Sheol h7585)
6 Nu vor ridica toți aceștia o parabolă împotriva lui și un proverb zeflemitor împotriva lui și nu vor spune: Vai celui care înmulțește ce nu este a lui! Cât timp? Și celui care se împovărează cu lut gros!
Shall not, these, all of them, against him, take up—a taunt, a mocking poem, enigmatical sentences—concerning him? And say—Alas! for him who maketh abundance in what is not his own, How long? that he should be burdening himself with heavy debts?
7 Nu se vor ridica deodată cei ce te vor mușca și se vor trezi cei ce te vor chinui iar tu vei fi pradă pentru ei?
Will not thy creditors, suddenly rise up? and they who shall violently shake thee, all at once become active? Then shalt thou serve for booties, unto them!
8 Pentru că ai prădat multe națiuni, toată rămășița poporului te va prăda; datorită sângelui oamenilor și datorită violenței făcute țării, cetății și tuturor celor ce o locuiesc.
Because, thou, hast plundered many nations, all the residue of the peoples, shall plunder thee, —for shedding Human blood, and doing violence to the earth, to the city, and to all who dwell therein.
9 Vai celui ce poftește o poftă rea pentru casa lui, ca el să își așeze casa pe înălțime, ca să fie scăpat de puterea răului!
Alas! for him who extorteth an extortion of wrong for his own house, —that he may set on high his nest, that he may be delivered from the grasp of calamity.
10 Tu ai croit rușine casei tale, prin stârpirea multor popoare, și ai păcătuit împotriva sufletului tău.
Thou hast counseled shame to thy house—making an end of many peoples, and endangering thine own life.
11 Căci piatra va striga din zid și bârna din lemnărie îi va răspunde.
Surely, the stone out of the wall, will make outcry, —and, the tie out of the timber, will answer it.
12 Vai celui ce construiește un oraș cu sânge și întemeiază o cetate prin nelegiuire!
Alas! for him who buildeth a city with deeds of blood, —and establisheth a town with perversity.
13 Iată, nu este de la DOMNUL oștirilor, că popoarele vor munci întocmai pentru acest foc și popoarele se vor obosi întocmai pentru această deșertăciune?
Lo! is it not from Yahweh of hosts—that peoples labour for fire, and, populations, for emptiness, weary themselves?
14 Căci pământul va fi umplut de cunoștința gloriei DOMNULUI, precum apele acoperă marea.
For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of Yahweh, —as, the waters, cover the sea.
15 Vai celui ce dă băutură aproapelui său, care îi torni din burduful tău și îl îmbeți de asemenea ca să îi privești goliciunea!
Alas! for him who causeth his neighbour to drink, from the goblet of thy fury, and also, making him drunk, —to the end thou mayest gloat over their parts of shame.
16 Ești umplut de rușine pentru glorie, bea și tu și lasă-ți prepuțul să fie descoperit; paharul dreptei DOMNULUI va fi întors spre tine, și vomă rușinoasă va fi pe gloria ta.
Thou art sated with contempt, more than glory, drink, thou too, and expose thy person, —the cup of the right hand of Yahweh, shall come round unto thee, and ignominious filth be upon thy glory;
17 Fiindcă violența Libanului te va acoperi, și prada fiarelor, care i-a înspăimântat, datorită sângelui oamenilor și datorită violenței făcute țării, cetății și tuturor celor ce o locuiesc.
For, the violence [done] to Lebanon, shall cover thee, and wasting by wild beasts shall cause them terror, —for shedding Human blood, and doing violence to the earth, to the city, and to all who dwell therein.
18 La ce folosește chipul cioplit pe care făcătorul lui l-a cioplit; chipul turnat și învățătorul minciunilor? În care se încrede făcătorul lucrării lui, pentru a face idoli muți?
What hath a carved image, profited, though the fashioner thereof, carved it? a molten image, and a teacher of falsehood, —though the fashioner of his fashioned thing trusted therein? that men should make Dumb Nonentities!
19 Vai celui ce spune lemnului: Trezește-te; pietrei mute: Ridică-te, ea ne va învăța! Iată, idolul este acoperit cu aur și argint și nu este deloc suflare în mijlocul lui.
Alas! for him who saith to wood, Awake, bestir thee! to a silent stone, he, shall teach! Though he is overlaid with gold and silver, yet, no spirit whatsoever, is in him!
20 Dar DOMNUL este în templul lui sfânt: tot pământul să tacă înaintea lui.
Howbeit, Yahweh, is in his holy temple, —Hush before him, all the earth.
