Geneză 23
1 Şi Sara era în vârstă de o sută douăzeci şi şapte de ani, aceştia au fost anii vieţii lui Sara.
Sara was an hundred and. xxvij. yere olde (for so longe lyued she)
2 Şi Sara a murit în Chiriatarba, adică Hebron, în ţara lui Canaan; şi Avraam a venit să jelească pe Sara şi să o plângă.
and than dyed in a heade cyte called Hebron in the londe of Canaan. Than Abraham came to morne Sara and to wepe for her.
3 Şi Avraam a stat în picioare înaintea moartei sale şi a vorbit fiilor lui Het, spunând:
And Abraham stode vp from the coorse and talked with the sonnes of heth saynge:
4 Eu sunt străin şi locuitor temporar cu voi, daţi-mi în stăpânire un loc de îngropare între voi, ca să înmormântez moarta mea dinaintea feţei mele.
I am a straunger ad a foryner amonge yow geue me a possession to bury in with you that I may bury my dead oute of my sighte.
5 Şi copiii lui Het au răspuns lui Avraam, spunându-i:
And the children of heth answered Abraham saynge vnto him:
6 Ascultă-ne, domnul meu: tu eşti un prinţ puternic printre noi; îngroapă-ţi moarta în cel mai ales dintre mormintele noastre; niciunul din noi nu va opri de la tine mormântul său, să îţi îngropi moarta.
heare vs lorde thou art a prynce of God amonge vs. In the chefest of oure sepulchres bury thy dead: None of vs shall forbydd ye his sepulchre yt thou shuldest not bury thy deade therein.
7 Şi Avraam s-a ridicat şi s-a aplecat până la pământ înaintea poporului ţării, înaintea copiilor lui Het.

8 Şi a vorbit îndeaproape cu ei, spunând: Dacă aceasta este dorinţa voastră, să înmormântez moarta mea dinaintea feţei mele, ascultaţi-mă şi rugaţi pentru mine pe Efron, fiul lui Ţohar,
And he comoned with them saynge: Yf it be youre myndes yt I shall bury my deade oute of my sighte heare me ad speke for me to Ephron the sonne of Zoar:
9 Ca să îmi dea peştera din Macpela, pe care o are, care este la capătul câmpului său; pentru atâţia bani cât merită aceasta, să mi-o dea în stăpânire ca loc de îngropare printre voi.
and let him geue me the dubill caue which he hath in the end of his felde for as moch money as it is worth let him geue it me in the presence of you for a possession to bury in.
10 Şi Efron locuia printre copiii lui Het; şi Efron hititul a răspuns lui Avraam în auzul copiilor lui Het, al tuturor celor ce intrau la poarta cetăţii sale, spunând:
For Hephron dwelled amoge ye childern of heth. Than Ephron the Hethite answered Abraham in the audyece of the childern of Heth and of all that went in at the gates of his cyte saynge:
11 Nu, domnul meu, ascultă-mă, câmpul ţi-l dau şi peştera care este în el, pe aceasta ţi-o dau; înaintea ochilor fiilor poporului meu ţi-o dau, înmormântează-ţi moarta.

12 Şi Avraam s-a aplecat până la pământ înaintea poporului ţării.
Than Abraham bowed himselfe before the people of the lade
13 Şi i-a vorbit lui Efron în auzul poporului ţării, spunând: Dar dacă mi-l vei da, te rog ascultă-mă, îţi voi da bani pentru câmp; ia-i de la mine şi îmi voi înmormânta moarta acolo.
and spake vnto Ephro in the audyence of the people of the contre saynge: I praye the heare me I will geue sylver for the felde take it of me ad so will I bury my deed there.
14 Şi Efron a răspuns lui Avraam, spunându-i:
Ephron answered Abraha saynge vnto him
15 Domnul meu, dă-mi ascultare, pământul merită patru sute de şekeli de argint; ce este aceasta între mine şi tine? Înmormântează-ţi aşadar moarta.
My lorde harken vnto me. The lande is worth iiij. hundreth sycles of syluer: But what is that betwixte the and me? bury thy deede.
16 Şi Avraam a dat ascultare lui Efron; şi Avraam i-a cântărit lui Efron argintul, pe care l-a spus în auzul fiilor lui Het, patru sute de şekeli de argint, în moneda comerciantului.
And Abraham harkened vnto Ephron and weyde him the sylver which he had sayde in the audyence of the sonnes of Heth. Euen. iiij. hudred syluer sycles of currant money amonge marchauntes
17 Şi câmpul lui Efron, care era în Macpela, care era în faţă cu Mamre, câmpul şi peştera care era în el şi toţi copacii care erau în câmp, care erau pe toate marginile de jur împrejur, au fost făcute sigure,

18 Lui Avraam ca stăpânire înaintea ochilor copiilor lui Het, înaintea tuturor celor ce intrau pe poarta cetăţii sale.

19 Şi după aceasta, Avraam a îngropat pe Sara, soţia lui, în peştera din câmpia din Macpela, în faţă cu Mamre, acesta este Hebron, în ţara lui Canaan.
And then Abraham buried Sara his wyfe in the double caue of the felde that lyeth before Mare otherwise called Ebron in the lande of Canaan.
20 Şi câmpul şi peştera care este în el, au fost făcute sigure lui Avraam ca stăpânire a unui loc de îngropare, de fiii lui Het.
And so both the felde ad the caue that is therein was made vnto Abraham a sure possession to bury in of the sonnes of Heth.
