Galateni 3

1 O, galateni neînțelepți! Cine v-a amăgit ca să nu ascultați de adevăr, înaintea ochilor cărora Isus Cristos a fost dinainte clar descris ca și crucificat între voi?

O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you that you not be persuaded by the Truth—Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed among you as having been crucified, before your very eyes!

2 Numai aceasta voiesc să aflu de la voi: Ați primit Duhul prin faptele legii sau prin auzirea credinței?

Just tell me one thing: Did you receive the Spirit by works of law, or by hearing of faith?

3 Sunteți atât de neînțelepți? Începând în Duhul, sunteți acum desăvârșiți prin carne?

Can you be so foolish? Having begun in spirit, do you finish in flesh?

4 În zadar ați suferit voi atât de multe? Dacă, într-adevăr, chiar este în zadar!

Have you suffered so much for nothing—if it really was for nothing?

5 Așadar, cel ce vă dă Duhul și lucrează miracole printre voi, le face prin faptele legii, sau prin auzirea credinței?

Furthermore, He who supplies the Spirit to you and works miracles among you, is He activated by works of law, or by hearing of faith?—

6 Așa cum Avraam l-a crezut pe Dumnezeu și aceasta i s-a socotit pentru dreptate.

just as Abraham ‘believed God and it was credited to him as righteousness.’

7 De aceea să știți că cei ce sunt din credință, aceștia sunt copiii lui Avraam.

Now you must know that only those who are of faith are ‘sons’ of Abraham.

8 Și scriptura, prevăzând că Dumnezeu îi va declara drepți prin credință pe păgâni, i-a predicat mai înainte lui Avraam evanghelia, spunând: În tine toate națiunile vor fi binecuvântate.

Further, the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the nations by faith, proclaimed the Gospel in advance to Abraham: “All the nations will be blessed through you.”

9 Astfel, cei ce sunt din credință sunt binecuvântați împreună cu credinciosul Avraam.

So then, those who are of faith are blessed along with Abraham, the faithful.

10 Deoarece toți câți sunt din faptele legii, sunt sub blestem, fiindcă este scris: Blestemat este oricine care nu rămâne neclintit în toate câte sunt scrise în cartea legii pentru a le face.

Now as many as are ‘by works of law’ are under a curse; because it stands written, “Cursed is everyone who does not continue in all the things written in the Book of the Law, to do them.”

11 Și că nimeni nu este declarat drept prin lege, înaintea lui Dumnezeu este clar, pentru că: Cel drept va trăi prin credință.

Further, it is evident that no one is justified by law before God, because “the righteous one will live by faith.”

12 Dar legea nu este din credință, ci: Omul care le face, va trăi prin ele.

While the law is not of faith but, “the man who does them will live by them.”

13 Cristos ne-a răscumpărat din blestemul legii, făcându-se blestem pentru noi; fiindcă este scris: Blestemat este oricine atârnă pe lemn,

Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse in our place—because it stands written, “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree”—

14 Ca binecuvântarea lui Avraam să vină peste neamuri prin Isus Cristos, ca să primim promisiunea Duhului prin credință.

so that the blessing of Abraham might come to the nations/Gentiles through Christ Jesus; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through the faith.

15 Fraților, vorbesc ca un om; deși este doar legământul unui om, totuși dacă este confirmat, nimeni nu îl desființează nici nu mai adaugă la el.

Brothers: as a man I speak a covenant; though only of a man, once it has been ratified no one annuls or adds to it.

16 Iar promisiunile au fost făcute lui Avraam și seminței lui. El nu spune: Și semințelor, ca despre multe, ci ca despre una: Și seminței tale, care este Cristos.

But to Abraham were spoken the promises, and to his Seed. He does not say “and to seeds,” as about many, but “and to your seed,” as about one, who is Christ.

17 Și spun aceasta că, legământul cel dinainte confirmat de Dumnezeu în Cristos, legea, care a venit patru sute treizeci de ani mai târziu, nu îl poate anula ca să facă promisiunea fără efect.

Further, I say this: a covenant confirmed beforehand by God in Christ cannot be annulled by the law that came four hundred and thirty years later, so as to make the promise of no effect.

18 Căci dacă moștenirea este din lege, nu mai este din promisiune; dar Dumnezeu a dat-o lui Avraam prin promisiune.

For if the inheritance were of law, it would no longer be of promise, but God granted it to Abraham by promise.

19 Atunci pentru ce este legea? Ea a fost adăugată din cauza încălcărilor de lege, până să vină sămânța căreia i se făcuse promisiunea, dată prin îngeri în mâna unui mijlocitor.

Why then the law? It was added on account of the transgressions, until the Seed should come to whom the inheritance had been promised; and it was ordered through angels by the hand of a mediator.

20 Iar mijlocitorul nu este mijlocitor al unuia, dar Dumnezeu este unul.

(Now that mediator is not for just one, but God is one.)

21 Atunci este legea împotriva promisiunilor lui Dumnezeu? Nicidecum! Căci dacă ar fi fost dată o lege care putea da viață, într-adevăr, dreptatea ar fi fost prin lege.

Is the law then against the promises of God? Of course not! Rather, if a law had been given that was capable of imparting life, truly righteousness would have been by the law.

22 Dar scriptura a închis pe toți oamenii sub păcat, ca promisiunea lui Isus Cristos, prin credință, să fie dată celor ce cred.

But the Scripture imprisoned everything under sin, so that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe.

23 Dar înainte de a veni credința, eram ținuți sub lege, închiși referitor la credința care urma să fie revelată.

Now before this faith came, we were kept in custody under the law, in confinement until the coming faith was revealed.

24 Astfel, legea a fost pedagogul nostru ca să ne aducă la Cristos, ca prin credință să fim declarați drepți.

So then, the law became our guardian until Christ, so that we might be justified by faith.

25 Dar după ce a venit credința, nu mai suntem sub pedagog.

Now that the faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian.

26 Fiindcă toți sunteți copiii lui Dumnezeu prin credința în Cristos Isus.

So all of you are sons of God through the faith in Christ Jesus.

27 Fiindcă toți câți ați fost botezați în Cristos, v-ați îmbrăcat cu Cristos.

As many of you as were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ

28 Nu este nici iudeu, nici grec, nu este nici rob, nici liber, nu este nici parte bărbătească, nici parte femeiască; fiindcă voi sunteți toți una în Cristos Isus.

—there is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no ‘male and female’; all of you are one in Christ Jesus—

29 Și dacă voi sunteți ai lui Cristos, atunci sunteți sămânța lui Avraam și moștenitori conform promisiunii.

so if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's seed and heirs according to the promise.
