Ezra 9
1 Şi după ce aceste lucruri s-au terminat, prinţii au venit la mine, spunând: Poporul lui Israel şi preoţii şi leviţii nu s-au separat de popoarele ţărilor, ci au făcut conform cu urâciunile lor, ale canaaniţilor, ale hitiţilor, ale pereziţilor, ale iebusiţilor, ale amoniţilor, ale moabiţilor, ale egiptenilor şi ale amoriţilor.
Now after these things were done, the captains came to me and said, The people of Israel and the priests and Levites have not kept themselves separate from the people of the lands, but have taken part in the disgusting ways of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Jebusites, the Ammonites, the Moabites, the Egyptians, and the Amorites.
2 Pentru că au luat dintre fiicele lor pentru ei înşişi şi pentru fiii lor; astfel încât sămânţa sfântă s-a amestecat cu popoarele acestor ţări; da, mâna prinţilor şi a conducătorilor a fost cea dintâi în această fărădelege.
For they have taken their daughters for themselves and for their sons, so that the holy seed has been mixed with the peoples of the lands; and in fact the captains and rulers have been the first to do this evil.
3 Şi când am auzit acest lucru, mi-am rupt haina şi mantaua şi mi-am smuls perii din cap şi din barbă şi m-am aşezat înmărmurit.
And hearing this, with signs of grief and pulling out the hair of my head and my chin, I took my seat on the earth deeply troubled.
4 Atunci s-au adunat la mine toţi cei care tremurau la cuvintele Dumnezeului lui Israel, din cauza fărădelegii celor care fuseseră duşi în captivitate; şi am şezut înmărmurit până la sacrificiul de seară.
Then everyone who went in fear of the words of the God of Israel, because of the sin of those who had come back, came together to me; and I kept where I was, overcome with grief, till the evening offering.
5 Şi la sacrificiul de seară m-am ridicat din tristeţea mea; şi după ce mi-am rupt haina şi mantaua, am căzut pe genunchi şi mi-am întins mâinile către DOMNUL Dumnezeul meu.
And at the evening offering, having made myself low before God, I got up, and with signs of grief, falling down on my knees, with my hands stretched out to the Lord my God,
6 Şi am spus: O Dumnezeul meu, roşesc şi îmi este ruşine să îmi ridic faţa către tine, Dumnezeul meu, pentru că nelegiuirile noastre s-au înmulţit până peste capetele noastre şi fărădelegea noastră a crescut până la ceruri.
I said, O my God, shame keeps me from lifting up my face to you, my God: for our sins are increased higher than our heads and our evil-doing has come up to heaven.
7 Din zilele părinţilor noştri am fost într-o mare fărădelege până în această zi; şi din cauza nelegiuirilor noastre am fost noi, împăraţii noştri şi preoţii noştri, daţi în mâna împăraţilor ţărilor, sabiei, captivităţii, şi prăzii, şi ruşinii feţei, precum este în această zi.
From the days of our fathers till this day we have been great sinners; and for our sins, we and our kings and our priests have been given up into the hands of the kings of the lands, to the sword and to prison and to loss of goods and to shame of face, as it is this day.
8 Şi acum pentru scurt timp [s-]a arătat har de la DOMNUL Dumnezeul nostru, pentru a ne lăsa o rămăşiţă să scape şi să ne dea un piron în locul său sfânt, ca Dumnezeul nostru să ne lumineze ochii şi să ne dea puţină înviorare în robia noastră.
And now for a little time grace has come to us from the Lord our God, to let a small band of us get free and to give us a nail in his holy place, so that our God may give light to our eyes and a measure of new life in our prison chains.
9 Pentru că noi eram robi; totuşi Dumnezeul nostru nu ne-a părăsit în robia noastră, ci şi-a întins milă spre noi înaintea feţei împăraţilor Persiei, pentru a ne da înviorare, ca să ridicăm casa Dumnezeului nostru şi să reparăm pustiirile ei şi să ne dea un zid în Iuda şi în Ierusalim.
For we are servants; but our God has not been turned away from us in our prison, but has had mercy on us before the eyes of the kings of Persia, to give us new strength to put up again the house of our God and to make fair its waste places, and to give us a wall in Judah and Jerusalem.
10 Şi acum, Dumnezeul nostru, ce să spunem noi după aceasta? Pentru că am părăsit poruncile tale,
And now, O our God, what are we to say after this? for we have not kept your laws,
11 Pe care le-ai poruncit prin servitorii tăi, profeţii, spunând: Ţara în care mergeţi pentru a o stăpâni, este o ţară necurată prin murdăria popoarelor ţărilor, prin urâciunile lor, care au umplut-o de la o margine la alta prin necurăţia lor.
Which you gave to your servants the prophets, saying, The land into which you are going, to take it for a heritage, is an unclean land, because of the evil lives of the peoples of the land and their disgusting ways, which have made the land unclean from end to end.
12 De aceea acum să nu daţi pe fiicele voastre fiilor lor, nici să nu luaţi pe fiicele lor pentru fiii voştri, nici să nu căutaţi vreodată pacea lor sau bogăţia lor; ca să fiţi tari şi să mâncaţi bunătatea ţării şi să o lăsaţi ca moştenire copiilor voştri pentru totdeauna.
So now do not give your daughters to their sons or take their daughters for your sons or do anything for their peace or well-being for ever; so that you may be strong, living on the good of the land, and handing it on to your children for a heritage for ever.
13 Şi, după toate câte au venit asupra noastră pentru faptele noastre rele şi pentru fărădelegea noastră mare, văzând că tu Dumnezeul nostru ne-ai pedepsit mai puţin decât merită nelegiuirile noastre şi ne-ai dat o astfel de eliberare ca aceasta;
And after everything which has come on us because of our evil-doing and our great sin, and seeing that the punishment which you, O God, have given us, is less than the measure of our sins, and that you have kept from death those of us who are here;
14 Să călcăm noi din nou poruncile tale şi să ne încuscrim cu popoarele acestor urâciuni? Nu te vei mânia pe noi până ne vei mistui, astfel încât să nu fie nicio rămăşiţă nici scăpare?
Are we again to go against your orders, taking wives from among the people who do these disgusting things? would you not be angry with us till our destruction was complete, till there was not one who got away safe?
15 DOAMNE Dumnezeul lui Israel, tu eşti drept, pentru că noi rămânem un popor scăpat, precum este în această zi; iată, noi suntem înaintea ta în fărădelegile noastre, pentru că nu putem sta în picioare înaintea ta din această cauză.
O Lord God of Israel, righteousness is yours; we are only a small band which has been kept from death, as at this day: see, we are before you in our sin; for no one may keep his place before you because of this.
