Ezechiel 15

1 Și cuvântul DOMNULUI a venit la mine, spunând:

And the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,

2 Fiu al omului, Cu ce este lemnul de viță mai mult decât alt lemn, [sau decât] o ramură care este printre copacii pădurii?

Son of man, What shall become of the wood of the vine more than of any other wood, of the branch which was standing among the trees of the forest?

3 Va fi luat din el lemn pentru a face vreo lucrare? Sau vor lua oamenii din el un țăruș, pentru a atârna în el vreun vas?

Can wood be taken therefrom to employ it for any work? or will men take from it a pin to hang thereon any vessel?

4 Iată, este aruncat în foc ca hrană: focul mistuie ambele lui capete și mijlocul lui este ars. Este bun pentru [vreo] lucrare?

Behold, if it be given up to the fire to be consumed, —[and] the fire have consumed both its ends, and the middle of it be scorched; will it be fit for any work?

5 Iată, când acesta era întreg, nu era bun pentru nicio lucrare; totuși, cu cât mai puțin va fi bun pentru [vreo] lucrare, după ce focul îl mistuie și este ars?

Behold, when it was yet entire, it could not be employed for any work: how much more [must this be] when the fire hath consumed it, and it is scorched, —and shall it yet be employed for any work?

6 De aceea astfel spune Domnul DUMNEZEU: Ca lemnul de viță printre copacii pădurii, pe care l-am dat focului ca hrană, astfel voi da [și] pe locuitorii Ierusalimului.

Therefore thus hath said the Lord Eternal, As the wood of the vine among the trees of the forest, which I have given up to the fire to be consumed: so do I give up the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

7 Și îmi voi întoarce fața împotriva lor: ei vor ieși dintr-[un] foc, și [un alt] foc îi va mistui; și veți cunoaște că eu [sunt] DOMNUL, când îmi voi întoarce fața împotriva lor.

And I will set my face against them: from the fire have they gone forth, yet the fire shall devour them; and ye shall know that I am the Lord, when I set my face against them.

8 Și voi face țara un pustiu, pentru că au făcut fărădelege, spune Domnul DUMNEZEU.

And I will render the land a desert; because they have committed a trespass, saith the Lord Eternal.
