Esther 5

1 Şi s-a întâmplat în a treia zi, că Estera s-a îmbrăcat cu haina împărătească şi a stat în picioare în curtea interioară a casei împăratului, în dreptul casei împăratului; şi împăratul şedea pe tronul său împărătesc în casa împărătească, în faţa porţii casei.

Now on the third day, Esther put on her queen's robes, and took her place in the inner room of the king's house, facing the king's house: and the king was seated on his high seat in the king's house, facing the doorway of the house.

2 Şi a fost astfel, când împăratul a văzut-o pe împărăteasa Estera stând în picioare în curte, că ea a obţinut favoare în ochii lui; şi împăratul i-a întins Esterei sceptrul de aur din mâna lui. Şi Estera s-a apropiat şi a atins vârful sceptrului.

And when the king saw Esther the queen waiting in the inner room, looking kindly on her he put out the rod of gold in his hand to her. So Esther came near and put her fingers on the top of the rod.

3 Atunci împăratul i-a spus: Ce doreşti împărăteasă Estera? Şi care este cererea ta? Ţi se va da chiar jumătate din împărăţie.

Then the king said, What is your desire, Queen Esther, and what is your request? I will give it to you, even to the half of my kingdom.

4 Şi Estera a răspuns: Dacă ar face plăcere împăratului, să vină astăzi împăratul şi Haman la ospăţul pe care i l-am pregătit.

And Esther in answer said, If it seems good to the king, let the king and Haman come today to the feast which I have made ready for him.

5 Atunci împăratul a spus: Grăbeşte-l pe Haman pentru a face ce a zis Estera. Şi împăratul şi Haman au venit la ospăţul pe care Estera l-a pregătit.

Then the king said, Let Haman come quickly, so that what Esther has said may be done. So the king and Haman came to the feast which Esther had made ready.

6 Şi împăratul a spus Esterei la ospăţul vinului: Care este rugămintea ta, şi ţi se va da? Şi care este cererea ta? Se va îndeplini până la jumătate din împărăţie.

And while they were drinking wine the king said to Esther, What is your prayer? for it will be given to you and what is your request? for it will be done, even to the half of my kingdom.

7 Atunci Estera a răspuns şi a zis: Rugămintea şi cererea mea este:

Then Esther said in answer, My prayer and my request is this:

8 Daca am găsit favoare în ochii împăratului şi dacă face plăcere împăratului să facă după rugămintea mea şi să împlinească cererea mea, să vină împăratul şi Haman la ospăţul pe care îl voi pregăti pentru ei, şi voi face mâine conform spusei împăratului.

If I have the king's approval, and if it is the king's pleasure to give me my prayer and do my request, let the king and Haman come to the feast which I will make ready for them, and tomorrow I will do as the king has said.

9 Şi în acea zi Haman a plecat bucuros şi cu inimă veselă, dar când Haman a văzut pe Mardoheu la poarta împăratului, că nu s-a ridicat, nici nu s-a mişcat pentru el, s-a umplut de indignare împotriva lui Mardoheu.

Then on that day Haman went out full of joy and glad in heart; but when he saw Mordecai in the king's doorway, and he did not get to his feet or give any sign of fear before him, Haman was full of wrath against Mordecai.

10 Cu toate acestea Haman s-a stăpânit; şi când a ajuns acasă a trimis şi şi-a chemat prietenii şi pe Zereş, soţia lui.

But controlling himself, he went to his house; and he sent for his friends and Zeresh, his wife.

11 Şi Haman le-a spus despre gloria bogăţiilor lui şi de mulţimea copiilor săi şi toate lucrurile în care împăratul l-a promovat, şi cum l-a avansat deasupra prinţilor şi servitorilor împăratului.

And he gave them an account of the glories of his wealth, and the number of children he had, and the ways in which he had been honoured by the king, and how he had put him over the captains and servants of the king.

12 Haman a continuat spunând: Da, împărăteasa Estera nu a lăsat niciun alt om decât pe mine să intre cu împăratul la ospăţul pe care ea l-a pregătit; şi mâine sunt de asemenea invitat la ea cu împăratul.

And Haman said further, Truly, Esther the queen let no man but myself come in to the feast which she had made ready for the king; and tomorrow again I am to be her guest with the king.

13 Totuşi toate acestea nu îmi folosesc la nimic, cât timp îl văd pe Mardoheu, iudeul, şezând la poarta împăratului.

But all this is nothing to me while I see Mordecai the Jew seated by the king's doorway.

14 Atunci Zereş, soţia lui, şi toţi prietenii lui, i-au spus: Să se facă o spânzurătoare înaltă de cincizeci de coţi şi mâine să vorbeşti cu împăratul ca Mardoheu să fie spânzurat de ea; apoi să mergi voios cu împăratul la ospăţ. Şi acest lucru a plăcut lui Haman; şi a pus să se facă spânzurătoarea.

Then his wife Zeresh and all his friends said to him, Let a pillar, fifty cubits high, be made ready for hanging him, and in the morning get the king to give orders for the hanging of Mordecai: then you will be able to go to the feast with the king with a glad heart. And Haman was pleased with the suggestion, and he had the pillar made.
