Efeseni 4

1 De aceea eu, prizonierul Domnului, vă implor să umblați demni de chemarea cu care sunteți chemați,

I THEN, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you, that ye walk worthy of the vocation with which ye are called,

2 Cu toată umilința și blândețea, cu îndelungă răbdare, răbdând unii altora în dragoste,

with all humility and meekness, with long suffering, forbearing one another in love;

3 Străduindu-vă să țineți unitatea Duhului în legătura păcii.

careful to preserve unity of spirit, in the bond of peace.

4 Este un singur trup și un singur Duh, precum și voi sunteți chemați într-o singură speranță a chemării voastre;

There is one body, and one spirit, even as ye have been called to one hope of your calling;

5 Un singur Domn, o singură credință, un singur botez,

one Lord, one faith, one baptism,

6 Un singur Dumnezeu și Tată al tuturor, care este peste toți și prin toți și în voi toți.

one God, and father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

7 Dar fiecăruia dintre noi îi este dat har conform măsurii darului lui Cristos.

But to every one of us hath the grace been given, according to the measure of the gift of Christ.

8 De aceea el spune: Când s-a urcat în înălțime, a dus în captivitate captivitatea și a dat daruri oamenilor.

Wherefore the Scripture saith, “When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.”

9 (Și că el s-a urcat, ce înseamnă decât că el de asemenea a coborât mai întâi în părțile de jos ale pământului?

Now this, that he ascended, what does it imply? but that he also first descended into the more internal parts of the earth?

10 Cel ce a coborât este chiar cel ce a urcat mult deasupra tuturor cerurilor, ca să umple toate lucrurile.)

He that descended is the same also, who ascended above all the heavens, that he might fill all things.

11 Și el a dat pe unii apostoli, și pe unii profeți, și pe unii evangheliști, și pe unii păstori și învățători,

And he himself appointed, some indeed apostles, and some prophets; and others preachers of the Gospel; and others pastors and teachers;

12 Pentru desăvârșirea sfinților, pentru lucrarea servirii, pentru edificarea trupului lui Cristos,

for the perfecting the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edification of the body of Christ:

13 Până vom ajunge toți la unitatea credinței și a cunoașterii Fiului lui Dumnezeu, la omul desăvârșit, la măsura staturii plinătății lui Cristos;

until we all attain in the unity of the faith, and the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a state of complete manhood, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

14 Ca să nu mai fim copii, aruncați încoace și încolo și purtați de fiecare vânt de doctrină prin șiretlicul oamenilor și prin viclenie iscusită, prin care pândesc să înșele;

that we should be no longer infants, floating on the waves, and carried about with every wind of novel doctrine, by the juggling of men, by their craftiness after the delusive wiles of error;

15 Ci, vorbind adevărul în dragoste, să creștem în toate în el, care este capul, Cristos;

but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, who is the head, even Christ:

16 Din care întregul trup bine închegat și strâns legat împreună, prin aportul fiecărei încheieturi, conform lucrării efective în măsura fiecărei părți, își face creșterea trupului pentru edificarea lui însuși în dragoste.

From whom the whole body nicely joined together, and firmly connected by every joint of exact proportion, according to the energy exerted in the measure of every several part, causeth the increase of the body unto the edification of itself in love.

17 De aceea spun aceasta și aduc mărturie în Domnul, ca voi de acum înainte să nu umblați cum umblă celelalte neamuri, în deșertăciunea minții lor,

This then I urge and testify in the Lord, that ye walk no more as the other Gentiles walk in the vanity of their mind,

18 Având înțelegerea întunecată, fiind înstrăinați de viața lui Dumnezeu prin ignoranța care este în ei, din cauza orbirii inimii lor;

darkened in understanding; alienated from the life of God through the ignorance which is in them; through the blindness of their hearts:

19 Care, fiind nesimțitori, s-au dedat ei înșiși desfrânării, pentru a lucra toată necurăția cu lăcomie.

who insensible to remorse, have delivered themselves over in lasciviousness, to the practice of all impurity, with insatiable avidity.

20 Dar voi nu ați învățat astfel despre Cristos;

But ye have not so learned Christ;

21 Dacă așa este că l-ați auzit și ați fost învățați de către el, precum adevărul este în Isus;

if indeed ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus:

22 Ca voi să puneți deoparte cele referitoare la purtarea voastră de mai înainte, omul vechi, care este corupt conform poftelor înșelătoare;

that ye put off respecting your former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful passions;

23 Și să vă înnoiți în duhul minții voastre;

but be renewed in the spirit of your minds;

24 Și să vă îmbrăcați cu omul nou, care, conform lui Dumnezeu, este creat în dreptate și adevărată sfințenie.

and put on the new man, which is created godlike, in righteousness and true holiness.

25 De aceea punând deoparte minciuna, vorbiți adevărul fiecare cu aproapele lui, pentru că suntem membre unii altora.

Wherefore putting away lying, speak truth, every one with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.

26 Mâniați-vă și nu păcătuiți; să nu apună soarele peste furia voastră,

Are ye provoked; and do you not sin? let not the sun go down upon your wrath:

27 Nici nu dați loc diavolului.

nor give place to the devil.

28 Cel ce a furat, să nu mai fure, ci mai degrabă să muncească, lucrând cu mâinile ce este bun, ca să aibă să dea celui ce are nevoie.

Let him that stole steal no more; but rather labour hard, working with his hands that which is good, that he may have something to give to him that is in want.

29 Să nu iasă din gura voastră niciun cuvânt stricat, ci doar ce este bun pentru folosul edificării, ca să dea har celor ce aud.

Let no loose discourse proceed out of your mouth, but whatever is good for useful edification, that it may communicate grace to the hearers.

30 Și nu mâhniți Duhul sfânt al lui Dumnezeu, prin care sunteți sigilați pentru ziua răscumpărării.

And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye have been sealed unto the day of redemption.

31 Orice amărăciune și furie și mânie și strigăte și vorbire rea să fie înlăturate de la voi, împreună cu toată răutatea;

Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and scandal, be removed from you, with all malice:

32 Și fiți buni unii cu alții, compătimitori, iertându-vă unii pe alții precum și Dumnezeu, pentru Cristos, v-a iertat pe voi.

but be ye kind one to another, full of sensibility, forgiving mutually, even as God in Christ hath forgiven you.
