Eclesiastul 3
1 Pentru fiecare lucru este un sezon și un timp pentru fiecare scop sub cer.
Alle thingis han tyme, and alle thingis vndur sunne passen bi her spaces.
2 Un timp pentru a se naște și un timp pentru a muri; un timp pentru a sădi și un timp pentru a smulge ce este sădit;
Tyme of birthe, and time of diyng; tyme to plaunte, and tyme to drawe vp that that is plauntid.
3 Un timp pentru a ucide și un timp pentru a vindeca; un timp pentru a dărâma și un timp pentru a zidi;
Tyme to sle, and tyme to make hool; tyme to distrie, and tyme to bilde.
4 Un timp pentru a plânge și un timp pentru a râde; un timp pentru a jeli și un timp pentru a dansa;
Tyme to wepe, and tyme to leiye; tyme to biweile, and tyme to daunse.
5 Un timp pentru a arunca pietre și un timp pentru a aduna pietre; un timp pentru a îmbrățișa și un timp pentru a se înfrâna de la îmbrățișare;
Tyme to scatere stoonys, and tyme to gadere togidere; tyme to colle, and tyme to be fer fro collyngis.
6 Un timp pentru a obține și un timp pentru a pierde; un timp pentru a ține și un timp pentru a arunca;
Tyme to wynne, and tyme to leese; tyme to kepe, and tyme to caste awei.
7 Un timp pentru a rupe și un timp pentru a coase; un timp pentru a păstra tăcere și un timp pentru a vorbi;
Tyme to kitte, and tyme to sewe togidere; tyme to be stille, and tyme to speke.
8 Un timp pentru a iubi și un timp pentru a urî; un timp pentru război și un timp pentru pace.
Tyme of loue, and tyme of hatrede; tyme of batel, and tyme of pees.
9 Ce folos are cel ce lucrează în ceea ce muncește?
What hath a man more of his trauel?
10 Eu am văzut osteneala pe care Dumnezeu a dat-o fiilor oamenilor pentru a fi umiliți prin ea.
I siy the turment, which God yaf to the sones of men, that thei be occupied therynne.
11 El a făcut fiecare lucru frumos la timpul lui; de asemenea a așezat lumea în inima lor, așa că nimeni nu poate cuprinde lucrarea pe care Dumnezeu o face de la început până la sfârșit.
God made alle thingis good in her tyme, and yaf the world to disputyng of hem, that a man fynde not the werk which God hath wrouyt fro the bigynnyng `til in to the ende.
12 Știu că nu este nimic bun în ei, decât pentru cineva să se bucure și să facă bine în viața sa.
And Y knew that no thing was betere `to a man, `no but to be glad, and to do good werkis in his lijf.
13 Și de asemenea ca orice om să mănânce și să bea și să se bucure de binele din toată munca lui, ea este darul lui Dumnezeu.
For whi ech man that etith and drinkith, and seeth good of his trauel; this is the yifte of God.
14 Știu că orice face Dumnezeu va fi pentru totdeauna, nimic nu poate fi adăugat la aceasta nici ceva luat de la ea; și Dumnezeu face aceasta, ca oamenii să se teamă înaintea lui.
I haue lerned that alle werkis, whiche God made, lasten stidfastli `til in to with outen ende; we moun not adde ony thing to tho, nether take awei fro tho thingis, whiche God made, that he be dred.
15 Ceea ce a fost este acum, și ceea ce va fi a fost deja; și Dumnezeu cere ceea ce a trecut.
That thing that is maad, dwellith perfitli; tho thingis that schulen come, weren bifore; and God restorith that, that is goon.
16 Și, mai mult, eu am văzut sub soare locul judecății, și acolo era stricăciune; și locul dreptății, și acolo era nelegiuire.
I siy vndur sunne vnfeithfulnesse in the place of doom; and wickidnesse in the place of riytfulnesse.
17 Am spus în inima mea: Dumnezeu va judeca pe cel drept și pe cel stricat, pentru că este un timp acolo pentru fiecare scop și pentru fiecare lucrare.
And Y seide in myn herte, The Lord schal deme a iust man, and an vnfeithful man; and the tyme of ech thing schal be thanne.
18 Am spus în inima mea, referitor la starea fiilor oamenilor, ca Dumnezeu să le facă cunoscut și ca ei să vadă că sunt animale.
I seide in myn herte of the sones of men, that God schulde preue hem, and schewe that thei ben lijk vnresonable beestis.
19 Căci ceea ce se întâmplă fiilor oamenilor se întâmplă și animalelor; un singur lucru li se întâmplă: cum moare unul, așa moare și celălalt; da, au toți o suflare; așa că omul nu are întâietate față de un animal, pentru că totul este deșertăciune.
Therfor oon is the perisching of man and of beestis, and euene condicioun is of euer eithir; as a man dieth, `so and tho beestis dien; alle beestis brethen in lijk maner, and a man hath no thing more than a beeste.
20 Toți merg într-un singur loc; toți sunt din țărână și toți se întorc din nou în țărână.
Alle thingis ben suget to vanyte, and alle thingis goen to o place; tho ben maad of erthe, and tho turnen ayen togidere in to erthe.
21 Cine cunoaște duhul omului care merge în sus și duhul animalului care merge jos în pământ?
Who knowith, if the spirit of the sones of Adam stieth vpward, and if the spirit of beestis goith dounward?
22 De aceea am priceput că nu este nimic mai bun, decât ca un om să se bucure în propriile lucrări; căci aceasta este partea lui; căci cine îl va aduce să vadă ce va fi după el?
And Y perseyuede that no thing is betere, than that a man be glad in his werk, and that this be his part; for who schal brynge hym, that he knowe thingis that schulen come after hym?
