Deuteronomul 13
1 Dacă se ridică printre voi un profet sau un visător de vise şi îţi dă un semn sau o minune,
If there arise in the midst of thee a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and he gives thee a sign or a wonder,
2 Şi se întâmplă semnul sau minunea despre care ţi-a vorbit, spunând: Să mergem după alţi dumnezei, pe care nu i-ai cunoscut şi să le servim,
and the sign or the wonder comes to pass, of which he spoke to thee, saying, Let us go after other gods, which thou have not known, and let us serve them,
3 Să nu dai ascultare la cuvintele acelui profet sau acelui visător de vise, pentru că DOMNUL Dumnezeul vostru vă încearcă, pentru a şti dacă îl iubiţi pe DOMNUL Dumnezeul vostru cu toată inima voastră şi cu tot sufletul vostru.
thou shall not hearken to the words of that prophet, or to that dreamer of dreams, for Jehovah your God proves you, to know whether ye love Jehovah your God with all your heart and with all your soul.
4 Voi să umblaţi după DOMNUL Dumnezeul vostru şi să vă temeţi de el şi să păziţi poruncile lui şi să ascultaţi de vocea lui şi să îi serviţi şi să vă alipiţi de el.
Ye shall walk after Jehovah your God, and fear him, and keep his commandments, and obey his voice, and ye shall serve him, and cling to him.
5 Şi acel profet, sau acel visător de vise să fie ucis, deoarece a vorbit ca să vă întoarcă de la DOMNUL Dumnezeul vostru, care v-a scos din ţara Egiptului şi v-a răscumpărat din casa robiei, ca să te depărteze de pe calea pe care ţi-a poruncit DOMNUL Dumnezeul tău să umbli pe ea. Astfel să îndepărtezi răul din mijlocul tău.
And that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams, shall be put to death, because he has spoken rebellion against Jehovah your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, and redeemed thee out of the house of bondage, to draw thee aside out of the way which Jehovah thy God commanded thee to walk in. So shall thou put away the evil from the midst of thee.
6 Dacă fratele tău, fiul mamei tale sau fiul tău sau fiica ta sau soţia sânului tău sau prietenul tău, care îţi este ca sufletul tău, te ademeneşte în secret, spunând: Să mergem şi să servim altor dumnezei, pe care nu i-ai cunoscut nici tu, nici părinţii tăi;
If thy brother, the son of thy mother, or thy son, or thy daughter, or the wife of thy bosom, or thy friend, who is as thine own soul, entices thee secretly, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which thou have not known, thou, nor thy fathers,
7 Adică, dintre dumnezeii poporului care este împrejurul vostru, aproape de tine sau departe de tine, de la o margine a pământului chiar până la cealaltă margine a pământului;
of the gods of the peoples that are round about you, near to thee, or far off from thee, from the one end of the earth even to the other end of the earth,
8 Să nu te învoieşti cu el şi să nu îi dai ascultare, nici ochiul tău să nu îl compătimească, nici să nu îl cruţi, nici să nu îl ascunzi,
thou shall not consent to him, nor hearken to him. Neither shall thine eye pity him, neither shall thou spare, neither shall thou conceal him,
9 Ci să îl ucizi; mâna ta să fie cea dintâi asupra lui ca să îl ucizi şi pe urmă mâna întregului popor.
but thou shall surely kill him. Thy hand shall be first upon him to put him to death, and afterwards the hand of all the people.
10 Şi să îl ucizi cu pietre, ca să moară, pentru că a căutat să te îndepărteze de la DOMNUL Dumnezeul tău, care te-a scos din ţara Egiptului, din casa robiei.
And thou shall stone him to death with stones, because he has sought to draw thee away from Jehovah thy God, who brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
11 Şi tot Israelul să audă şi să se teamă şi să nu mai facă astfel de stricăciune, ca aceasta, printre voi.
And all Israel shall hear, and fear, and shall no more do any such wickedness as this is in the midst of thee.
12 Dacă într-una din cetăţile tale, pe care ţi le dă DOMNUL Dumnezeul tău, ca să locuieşti acolo, vei auzi spunându-se:
If thou shall hear tell concerning one of thy cities, which Jehovah thy God gives thee to dwell there, saying,
13 Anumiţi oameni, copiii lui Belial, au ieşit din mijlocul vostru şi au atras pe locuitorii cetăţii lor, spunând: Să mergem şi să servim altor dumnezei, pe care nu i-aţi cunoscut;
Certain base fellows have gone out from the midst of thee, and have drawn away the inhabitants of their city, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which ye have not known,
14 Atunci să întrebi şi să faci cercetare şi să întrebi cu deamănuntul; şi, iată, dacă este adevărat şi lucrul este sigur, că această urâciune s-a făcut printre voi,
then thou shall inquire, and make search, and ask diligently. And, behold, if it be true, and the thing certain, that such abomination is wrought in the midst of thee,
15 Să loveşti pe locuitorii acelei cetăţi cu ascuţişul sabiei, distrugând-o în întregime şi tot ce este în ea şi vitele ei, cu ascuţişul sabiei.
thou shall surely smite the inhabitants of that city with the edge of the sword, destroying it utterly, and all that is in it, and the cattle in it, with the edge of the sword.
16 Şi să aduni toată prada ei în mijlocul străzii ei şi să arzi cu foc cetatea şi toată prada ei în întregime, pentru DOMNUL Dumnezeul tău şi ea să fie o movilă pentru totdeauna, să nu se mai construiască din nou.
And thou shall gather all the spoil of it into the midst of the street of it, and shall burn the city with fire, and all the spoil of it, every whit, to Jehovah thy God, and it shall be a heap forever. It shall not be built again.
17 Şi nimic din lucrul blestemat să nu se lipească de mâna ta, ca DOMNUL să se întoarcă din înverşunarea furiei sale şi să îţi arate milă şi să aibă compasiune de tine şi să te înmulţească, precum a jurat părinţilor tăi;
And nothing of the devoted thing shall cling to thy hand, that Jehovah may turn from the fierceness of his anger, and show thee mercy, and have compassion upon thee, and multiply thee, as he has sworn to thy fathers,
18 Când vei da ascultare la vocea DOMNULUI Dumnezeul tău, ca să păzeşti toate poruncile lui pe care ţi le poruncesc astăzi, ca să faci ce este drept în ochii DOMNULUI Dumnezeul tău.
when thou shall hearken to the voice of Jehovah thy God, to keep all his commandments which I command thee this day, to do that which is right in the eyes of Jehovah thy God.
