Daniel 11

1 De asemenea, eu, în anul întâi al lui Darius medul, eu am stat să îl îmbărbătez și să îl întăresc.

I, therefore, in the first year of Darius the Mede, was at my station to strengthen and embolden him;

2 Și acum îți voi arăta adevărul. Iată, se vor ridica în picioare încă trei împărați în Persia; și al patrulea va fi mult mai bogat decât [ei] toți; și prin tăria lui, prin bogățiile sale, va stârni pe toți împotriva domeniului Greciei.

and, now, the truth, I will tell thee: —Lo! there are, yet three kings, to arise—belonging to Persia, and, the fourth, will amass greater riches than they all, and, when he hath strengthened himself in his riches, the whole, will stir up, the kingdom of Greece.

3 Și un împărat puternic se va ridica în picioare, care va stăpâni cu mare stăpânire și va face conform voinței sale.

And so a hero king, will arise, —and wield great authority, and do according to his own pleasure;

4 Și când se va ridica în picioare, împărăția lui va fi frântă și va fi împărțită spre cele patru vânturi ale cerului; și nu pentru posteritatea lui, nici conform domniei sale, pe care a condus-o; fiindcă împărăția lui va fi smulsă și dată altora, în afară de aceștia.

but, when he hath arisen, his kingdom, shall be broken in pieces, and be divided, toward the four winds of the heavens, —but not to his own posterity, nor according to his own authority which he wielded, for his kingdom, shall be uprooted, even for others besides these.

5 Și împăratul sudului va fi tare și [unul] dintre prinții lui; și va fi tare peste el și va avea stăpânire; stăpânirea lui [va fi] o stăpânire mare.

But a king of the south, will become strong, even from among his rulers, —and will prevail against him, and have authority, a great authority, shall his authority be.

6 Și la sfârșitul anilor, ei se vor alătura; căci fiica împăratului sudului va veni la împăratul nordului să facă o înțelegere; dar ea nu va păstra puterea brațului; nici nu va sta el în picioare, nici brațul său; ci ea va fi dată și cei care au adus-o și cel care a născut-o și cel care a întărit-o în [acele] timpuri.

And, at the end of years, they will league together, yea, the daughter of the king of the south, will go in unto the king of the north, to make peace, but she shall not retain strength of arm, neither shall he stand, nor his arm, but she shall be delivered up—she herself, and they who brought her in, and he who begat her, and he that strengthened her in the times.

7 Dar dintr-un lăstar al rădăcinii ei se va ridica [unul] în locul lui, care va veni cu armată și va intra în fortăreața împăratului nordului și se va purta rău împotriva lor și va învinge;

But one will stand up from the sprout of her roots, [in] his stead, —and he will enter the army, and enter into a fortress of the king of the north, and deal with them and shew himself strong;

8 Și de asemenea va duce în Egipt captivi pe dumnezeii lor, cu prinții lor și cu vasele lor prețioase din argint și din aur; și el va dăinui [mai mulți] ani decât împăratul nordului.

yea, even their gods, with their molten images, with their delightful vessels of silver and gold, with a host of captives, will he bring into Egypt, —and, he, will stand more, years, than the king of the north;

9 Astfel împăratul sudului va veni în împărăția [lui și] se va întoarce în propria țară.

so will the king of the south, enter into the kingdom, and then return unto his own soil.

10 Dar fiii lui vor fi stârniți și vor aduna o mulțime de mari forțe; și [unul] va veni negreșit și se va revărsa și va trece, atunci se va întoarce și va fi stârnit, până la fortăreața lui.

But, his sons, will rouse themselves to war, and gather together a multitude of large armies, but he will come on and on, and overflow and pass through, —and will return and wage war, up to his fortress.

11 Și împăratul sudului va fi împins de amărăciune și va ieși și se va lupta cu el, cu împăratul nordului; și va ridica o mare mulțime; iar mulțimea va fi dată în mâna lui.

Then will the king of the south, be enraged, and go forth and fight with him, with the king of the north, —and will raise a great multitude, but the multitude, will be delivered, into his hand.

12 [Și] după ce va fi luat mulțimea, inima lui se va înălța; și va doborî [multe] zeci de mii, dar nu va fi întărit [prin aceasta].

And, when he hath taken away the multitude, his heart, will be uplifted, —and he will cause tens of thousands to fall, but will not conquer.

13 Căci împăratul nordului se va întoarce și va ridica o mulțime mai mare decât cea dinainte și va veni negreșit după câțiva ani cu o mare armată și cu multe bogății.

Then will the king of the north again raise a multitude, greater than the first, —and, at the end of the times—some years, he will come on and on with a great army, and with great substance.

14 Și în acele timpuri mulți se vor ridica împotriva împăratului sudului; de asemenea jefuitorii poporului tău se vor înălța pentru a întemeia viziunea; dar vor cădea.

And, in those times, many, will rise against the king of the south, —and, the sons of the oppressors of thy people, will exalt themselves to confirm the vision, but will be overthrown.

15 Astfel împăratul nordului va veni și va înălța un val de pământ și va lua cele mai fortificate cetăți și brațele sudului nu vor rezista, nici poporul lui ales, nici [nu va fi] tărie pentru a rezista.

Then will come in the king of the north, and cast up a rampart, and capture a city of strongholds, —and, the arms of the south, will not rise, nor the people of his chosen ones, and there shall be no strength to rise.

16 Dar cel ce vine împotriva lui va face conform propriei voințe și nimeni nu va sta în picioare înaintea lui, iar el va sta în țara glorioasă, care prin mâna lui va fi mistuită.

So shall he that cometh against him do according to his own pleasure, and, none, shall stand before him, —therefore will he take his stand in the beautiful land, and it will languish and be exhausted in his hand.

17 El de asemenea își va îndrepta fața să intre cu tăria întregii lui împărății și cei integri cu el; astfel va face el și îi va da lui fiica femeilor, corupând-o; dar ea nu va sta [de partea lui, ] nici nu va fi pentru el.

Then will he set his face to enter, with the might of all his kingdom, and, equitable terms with him, will make, —and, a daughter of women, will he give him to corrupt her, but she will not remain, nor, his, shall she become.

18 După aceasta își va întoarce fața spre insule și va lua multe, dar un prinț va face să înceteze pentru el ocara oferită de el; fără propria ocară el [o] va face să se întoarcă asupra lui.

Then will he turn his face to the Coastlands, and will capture many, —but a commander, will bring to an end, his reproach against himself, that, his reproach, return not unto him.

19 Atunci își va întoarce fața spre fortăreața propriei țări, dar se va poticni și va cădea și nu va fi găsit.

Therefore will he turn his face towards the fortresses of his land, —but he shall stagger and fall, and shall not be found.

20 Atunci se va ridica în locul lui un ridicător de taxe [în] gloria împărăției, dar în puține zile va fi nimicit, nici în mânie, nici în bătălie.

Then will rise up in his stead, one causing an exactor to pass through the ornament of the kingdom, —but, in a few days, shall he be broken in pieces, not with anger, nor in battle.

21 Și în locul lui se va ridica o persoană nemernică, căreia nu îi vor da onoarea împărăției; dar el va veni în pace și va obține împărăția prin lingușiri.

Then will rise up in his stead, one despised, and they will not lay upon him the dignity of the kingdom, —but he will come in unexpectedly, and strengthen the kingdom by flatteries;

22 Și cu brațele unui potop vor fi ei potopiți dinaintea lui și vor fi frânți; da și prințul legământului.

and, the arms of an overflowing flood, will sweep all before him, and they shall be broken in pieces, —moreover also, the prince of a covenant;

23 Și după alianța [făcută] cu el, el va lucra înșelător, căci va urca și va deveni tare cu popor puțin.

and, by reason of the leaguing against him, he will work deceitfully, and will come up and become strong, with a small nation.

24 El va intra pașnic chiar peste cele mai grase locuri ale provinciei; și va face [ce] părinții lui nu au făcut, nici părinții părinților lui; va împrăștia printre ei prada și jaf și bogății; [da, ] și își va plănui uneltirile împotriva întăriturilor, chiar pentru un timp.

Unexpectedly, even into the rich places of the province, will he enter, and will do what neither his fathers nor his father’s fathers had done, prey and spoil and substance—among them, will he scatter, —and, against strongholds, will he devise plots even until a (convenient) time.

25 Și își va stârni puterea și curajul său împotriva împăratului sudului cu o armată mare; și împăratul sudului va fi stârnit să se lupte cu o armată foarte mare și puternică; dar el nu va sta în picioare, căci ei vor plănui uneltiri împotriva lui.

Then will he stir up his strength and his heart, against the king of the south, with a great army, and, the king of the south, will wage war, with a great and exceedingly mighty army, —but will make no stand, for they will devise against him plots;

26 Da, cei ce se hrănesc din porția mâncării lui îl vor nimici și armata lui se va revărsa și mulți vor cădea uciși.

and, they who have been eating his delicacies, will break him in pieces, and, his army, will he overwhelm like a flood, —and many wounded, will fall.

27 Și ambele inimi ale acestor împărați [vor fi] să facă ticăloșie și vor vorbi minciuni la o masă; dar nu va prospera, căci totuși sfârșitul [va fi] la timpul rânduit.

Now, as for the two kings, their heart, will be set on acting wickedly, and, at one table, will they speak, falsehood, —but it shall not succeed, for yet is the end for an appointed time.

28 Atunci el se va întoarce în țara lui cu mari bogății; și inima lui [va fi] împotriva legământului sfânt; și va face [lucruri mărețe și] se va întoarce în propria țară.

So then he will return to his own land, with great substance, with, his heart, set upon a holy covenant; yea he will act with effect, and return to his own land.

29 La timpul rânduit se va întoarce și va veni spre sud; dar nu va fi ca mai înainte, sau ca la sfârșit.

At the appointed time, will he again enter the south, —but it shall not be like the former, nor like the latter.

30 Căci corăbiile Chitimului vor veni împotriva lui; de aceea va fi întristat și se va întoarce și va avea indignare împotriva legământului sfânt; astfel va face el; chiar se va întoarce și se va înțelege cu cei care părăsesc legământul sfânt.

Then will come in against him the ships of Cyprus, and he will be disheartened, and again have indignation against a holy covenant, and will act with effect, —and again gain intelligence, concerning them who are forsaking a holy covenant.

31 Și brațe vor sta de partea lui, iar ei vor spurca sanctuarul tăriei și vor lua [sacrificiul] zilnic și vor pune urâciunea care pustiește.

And, arms, from him, will arise, —and will profane the sanctuary, the fortress, and will set aside the continual [ascending-sacrifice], and place the horrid abomination that astoundeth.

32 Și pe cei care se poartă cu stricăciune împotriva legământului îi va corupe prin lingușiri, dar poporul care cunoaște pe Dumnezeul său va fi tare și va face [lucruri mărețe.]

And, them who are ready to deal lawlessly with a covenant, will he make impious by flatteries, —but, the people who know their God, will be strong and act with effect.

33 Și cei ce înțeleg din popor vor instrui pe mulți; totuși vor cădea prin sabie și prin flacără, prin captivitate și prin pradă, [multe] zile.

And, they who make the people wise, will impart understanding to the many, —yet shall they be brought low, by sword and by flame, by captivity and by prey, for some days;

34 Și după ce vor cădea, vor fi ajutați cu un mic ajutor; dar mulți se vor lipi de ei cu lingușiri.

but, when they are brought low, they shall be helped with a little help, —and many, will join themselves unto them, by flatteries;

35 Și [unii] dintre cei care înțeleg vor cădea, pentru a-i încerca și pentru a-[i] curăța și pentru a-[i] albi, până la timpul sfârșitului, pentru că [va fi] totuși pentru un timp rânduit.

and, of them who make wise, some shall be brought low, to refine them, and to purify and make white, up to the time of the end, —for yet is it for an appointed time.

36 Și împăratul va face conform voinței lui; și se va înălța și se va preamări deasupra fiecărui dumnezeu și va vorbi lucruri uimitoare împotriva Dumnezeului dumnezeilor și va prospera până când indignarea se va împlini; fiindcă ceea ce este hotărât va fi făcut.

And the king, will do according to his own pleasure, and will exalt himself, and magnify himself against every GOD, yea, against the GOD of GODS, will he speak wonderful things, —and will succeed, until exhausted is the indignation, for, what is decreed, must be done;

37 Nici nu va lua aminte la Dumnezeul părinților lui, nici dorința femeilor, nici nu va lua aminte la vreun dumnezeu, fiindcă se va preamări deasupra tuturor.

and, for the god of his fathers, will he have no regard, nor, for the delight of women, nor for any god, will he have regard, —for, against all, will he magnify himself.

38 Dar va onora în locul lui pe Dumnezeul forțelor; și pe un dumnezeu pe care părinții lui nu l-au cunoscut el [îl] va onora cu aur și argint și cu pietre prețioase și lucruri plăcute.

Howbeit, to the god of the fortresses, in his place, will he give honour, —even to a god whom his fathers, knew not, will he give honour, with gold and with silver and with precious stones and with articles of delight.

39 Astfel va face el în cele mai puternice întărituri cu un dumnezeu străin, pe care îl va recunoaște [și] înmulți cu glorie; și îi va face să stăpânească peste mulți și va împărți țara pentru câștig.

And he will prepare, for the strongholds of the fortress of the sea, the people of an alien god, whom he will acknowledge—will greatly honour, —and will give them authority over the many, and, the soil, will he apportion for a price.

40 Și la timpul sfârșitului împăratul sudului îl va împinge; și împăratul nordului va veni împotriva lui ca un vârtej de vânt, cu care și cu călăreți și cu multe corăbii; și va intra în țări și se va revărsa și va trece.

And, in the time of the end, will the king of the south, push at him, and the king of the north, will rush against him, with chariots and with horsemen, and with many ships, —and he will enter the lands, and overwhelm and pass over;

41 Va intra de asemenea în țara glorioasă și multe [țări] vor fi doborâte; dar aceștia vor scăpa din mâna lui: Edom și Moab și măreția copiilor lui Amon.

yea he will enter the beautiful land, and, many [lands], shall be laid low, —but, these, shall be delivered out of his hand, Edom and Moab, and the first portion of the sons of Ammon;

42 Își va întinde mâna și asupra țărilor și țara Egiptului nu va scăpa.

yea he will thrust forth his hand against the lands, —and, the land of Egypt, shall have no deliverance;

43 Ci va avea putere peste tezaurele din aur și din argint și peste toate lucrurile prețioase ale Egiptului și libienii și etiopienii [vor fi] la treptele lui.

and he will have authority over the treasures of gold and silver, and over all the delightful things of Egypt, —with Libyans and Ethiopians among his followers;

44 Dar vești dinspre est și dinspre nord îl vor tulbura; de aceea va pleca cu mare furie să distrugă și să îndepărteze în întregime pe mulți.

but, tidings, will terrify him, out of the east, and out of the north, —therefore will he go forth with great fury, to destroy and to devote many;

45 Și va întinde corturile palatului său între mări în muntele sfânt [și] glorios; totuși va ajunge la sfârșitul său și nimeni nu îl va ajuta.

and will plant his palace-home between the seas, towards the beautiful holy mountain, but shall come to his end, with none to help him.
