Amos 7

1 Astfel mi-a arătat Domnul DUMNEZEU; și, iată, el a format cosași la începutul creșterii otavei; și, iată, era otava după cositul împăratului.

Thus did the Lord Eternal show unto me: and, behold, he was forming locusts in the beginning of the sprouting up of the latter groweth; and, lo, it was the latter growth after the king's mowings [was over].

2 Și s-a întâmplat, după ce au terminat de mâncat iarba țării, că atunci am spus: Doamne DUMNEZEULE, iartă, te implor, prin cine se va ridica Iacob? pentru că el este mic.

And it came to pass, when they had made an end of eating up the herbs of the earth, that I said, O Lord Eternal, forgive, I beseech thee: how should Jacob be able to endure, since he is so small!

3 DOMNUL s-a pocăit pentru aceasta: Nu va fi, spune DOMNUL.

The Lord bethought himself of this: It shall not be, said the Lord.

4 Astfel mi-a arătat Domnul DUMNEZEU; și, iată, Domnul DUMNEZEU a chemat la luptă prin foc și a mistuit adâncul cel mare și a mâncat o parte.

Thus did the Lord Eternal show unto me: and, behold, the Lord Eternal called forth the punishment by fire, and it devoured the great deep, and consumed the ploughed field.

5 Atunci am spus: Doamne DUMNEZEULE, încetează, te implor, prin cine se va ridica Iacob? pentru că el este mic.

Then said I, O Lord Eternal, forbear, I beseech thee: how should Jacob be able to endure, since he is so small!

6 DOMNUL s-a pocăit pentru aceasta. Aceasta de asemenea nu va fi, spune Domnul DUMNEZEU.

The Lord bethought himself of this: Also this shall not be, said the Lord Eternal.

7 Astfel el mi-a arătat; și, iată, Domnul stătea în picioare pe un zid făcut cu un fir cu plumb, cu un fir cu plumb în mâna sa.

Thus he showed unto me: and, behold, the Lord was standing upon a wall [made] by a plumbline, and in his hand was a plumbline.

8 Și DOMNUL mi-a spus: Amos ce vezi? Și eu am spus: Un fir cu plumb. Atunci Domnul a spus: Iată, voi pune un fir cu plumb în mijlocul poporului meu Israel; nu voi mai trece pe lângă ei;

And the Lord said unto me, What dost thou see, 'Amos? And I said, A plumbline. Then said the Lord, Behold, I will set a plumbline in the midst of my people Israel; I will not farther indulge them any more.

9 Și înălțimile lui Isaac vor fi pustiite și sanctuarele lui Israel vor fi risipite; și mă voi ridica cu sabia împotriva casei lui Ieroboam.

And the high places of Isaac shall be made desolate, and the sanctuaries of Israel shall be laid in ruins: and I will rise up against the house of Jerobo'am with the sword.

10 Atunci Amația, preotul din Betel, a trimis la Ieroboam, împăratul lui Israel, spunând: Amos a uneltit împotriva ta în mijlocul casei lui Israel; țara nu este în stare să sufere toate cuvintele lui.

Then sent Amazyah, the priest of Beth-el, to Jerobo'am the king of Israel, saying, 'Amos hath conspired against thee in the midst of the house of Israel: the land is not able to bear all his words.

11 Pentru că astfel a spus Amos: Ieroboam va muri prin sabie și Israel va fi, negreșit, dus captiv din propria lui țară.

For thus hath 'Amos said, By the sword shall Jerobo'am die, and Israel shall surely be led away into exile out of their own land.

12 De asemenea Amația i-a spus lui Amos: Tu văzătorule, du-te, fugi în țara lui Iuda și acolo mănâncă pâine și acolo profețește;

And Amazyah said unto 'Amos, Seer, go, flee thee away into the land of Judah, and eat there [thy] bread, and there prophesy;

13 Dar să nu mai profețești la Betel, pentru că este capela împăratului și este curtea împăratului.

But at Beth-el prophesy not farther any more; for it is the king's sanctuary, and it is a royal residence.

14 Atunci Amos a răspuns și i-a zis lui Amația: Eu nu eram profet, nici fiu de profet, ci eram păzitor de oi și culegător de roade de sicomor;

Then answered 'Amos, and said to Amazyah, I am no prophet, nor am I a prophet's son; but I am a herdman, and a gatherer of wild figs;

15 Și DOMNUL m-a luat precum urmam turma și DOMNUL mi-a spus: Du-te, profețește poporului meu Israel.

But the Lord hath taken me away from behind the flocks, and the Lord said unto me, Go, prophesy unto my people Israel.

16 De aceea acum, ascultă cuvântul DOMNULUI: Tu spui: Nu profeți împotriva lui Israel și nu picura cuvântul tău împotriva casei lui Isaac.

And now hear thou the word of the Lord, Thou sayest, Prophesy not against Israel, and preach not against the house of Isaac.

17 De aceea astfel spune DOMNUL: Soția ta va fi o curvă în cetate și fiii tăi și fiicele tale vor cădea prin sabie și țara ta va fi împărțită cu frânghia; și tu vei muri într-o țară întinată; iar Israel va merge negreșit în captivitate din țara lui.

Therefore thus hath said the Lord, Thy wife will play the harlot in the city, and thy sons and thy daughters shall fall by the sword, and thy land shall be divided out by the line; and thou shalt die in an unclean land; and Israel shall surely be led forth into exile out of their land.
