Amos 6
1 Vai celor din Sion, care sunt în tihnă, și se încred în muntele Samariei, care sunt numiți mai marii națiunilor, la care a venit casa lui Israel!
Woe to them that are at ease in Zion and trust in the moutaine of Samaria, which were famous at the beginning of the nations: and the house of Israel came to them.
2 Treceți la Calne și vedeți; și de acolo mergeți la Hamatul cel mare; apoi coborâți la Gatul filistenilor; sunt ele mai bune decât aceste împărății? Sau granița lor este mai mare decât granița voastră?
Goe you vnto Calneh, and see: and from thence goe you to Hamath the great: then goe downe to Gath of the Philistims: be they better then these kingdomes? or the border of their land greater then your border,
3 Voi care îndepărtați ziua cea rea și faceți să se apropie scaunul violenței;
Ye that put farre away the euill day, and approch to the seate of iniquitie?
4 Care vă culcați pe paturi de fildeș și vă întindeți pe divanurile lor și mâncați mieii din turmă și vițeii din mijlocul staulului;
They lie vpon beddes of yuorie, and stretch themselues vpon their beddes, and eate the lambes of the flocke, and the calues out of the stall.
5 Care cântați la sunetul violei și inventați instrumente de muzică pentru voi, precum David;
They sing to the sounde of the viole: they inuent to themselues instruments of musike like Dauid.
6 Care beți vin din boluri și vă ungeți cu unguentele cele mai alese; dar ei nu se mâhnesc pentru nenorocirea lui Iosif.
They drinke wine in bowles, and anoynt themselues with the chiefe ointments, but no man is sory for the affliction of Ioseph.
7 De aceea acum vor merge captivi cu cei dintâi care merg captivi și banchetul celor care s-au întins va fi luat.
Therefore nowe shall they go captiue with the first that go captiue, and the sorow of them that stretched themselues, is at hand.
8 Domnul DUMNEZEU a jurat pe sine însuși, spune DOMNUL Dumnezeul oștirilor: Detest maiestatea lui Iacob și îi urăsc palatele; de aceea voi da cetatea cu tot ce este în ea.
The Lord God hath sworne by himselfe, saith the Lord God of hostes, I abhorre the excellencie of Iaakob, and hate his palaces: therefore wil I deliuer vp the citie with all that is therein.
9 Și se va întâmpla, dacă rămân zece oameni într-o casă, că ei vor muri.
And if there remaine ten men in one house, they shall die.
10 Și unchiul unui om și cel care îl arde, îl va ridica să scoată oasele din casă și va spune celui de lângă laturile casei: Mai este cineva cu tine? Și el va spune: Nu. Atunci el va spune: Tăcere, pentru că nu putem aminti despre numele DOMNULUI.
And his vncle shall take him vp and burne him to cary out the bones out of the house, and shall say vnto him, that is by ye sides of the house, Is there yet any with thee? And he shall say, None. Then shall he say, Holde thy tongue: for we may not remember the Name of the Lord.
11 Pentru că, iată, DOMNUL poruncește și va lovi casa cea mare cu spărturi și casa cea mică cu crăpături.
For behold, the Lord commandeth, and he will smite the great house with breaches, and the litle house with clefts.
12 Vor alerga caii pe stâncă? Va ara cineva acolo cu boii? Pentru că ați întors judecata în fiere și rodul dreptății în cucută;
Shal horses runne vpon the rocke? or wil one plowe there with oxen? for yee haue turned iudgement into gall, and the fruite of righteousnes into wormewood.
13 Voi care vă bucurați într-un lucru de nimic, care spuneți: Nu ne-am luat noi coarne prin tăria noastră?
Ye reioyce in a thing of nought: yee say, Haue not wee gotten vs hornes by our owne strength?
14 Dar, iată, voi ridica împotriva voastră o națiune, casă a lui Israel, spune DOMNUL Dumnezeul oștirilor; și ei vă vor chinui de la intrarea Hamatului până la râul pustiului.
But behold, I wil raise vp against you a nation, O house of Israel, sayeth the Lord God of hostes: and they shall afflict you, from the entring in of Hamath vnto the riuer of the wildernes.
