Faptele 8
1 Și Saul a fost de acord cu moartea lui. Iar în acele zile a fost o mare persecuție împotriva bisericii care era la Ierusalim; și toți au fost împrăștiați prin toate regiunile Iudeii și Samariei, exceptând apostolii.
With these words he fell asleep. And Saul fully approved of his murder. On this very day there broke out a great persecution against the church in Jerusalem, and all except the apostle were scattered throughout Judea and Samaria.
2 Și [niște] bărbați pioși l-au dus pe Ștefan [pentru a-l înmormânta] și au făcut pentru el un mare bocet.
Devout men buried Stephen, and made loud lamentations over him.
3 Cât despre Saul, prăpădea biserica, intrând în fiecare casă; și, târând deopotrivă bărbați și femei, îi preda la închisoare.
But Saul was laying waste the church. He was wont to enter into every house, and to drag off men and women, and to commit them to prison.
4 De aceea cei împrăștiați au mers pretutindeni, predicând cuvântul.
So those who were scattered abroad were going everywhere preaching the word.
5 Atunci Filip a coborât la cetatea Samariei și le-a predicat pe Cristos.
Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and began to preach Christ there.
6 Și oamenii într-un gând au dat atenție celor vorbite de Filip, auzind și văzând miracolele pe care le făcea.
The crowd with one accord were giving heed to what he said, when they heard and saw the signs that he did.
7 Fiindcă din mulți posedați ieșeau duhuri necurate, strigând cu voce tare; și mulți paralizați și șchiopi au fost vindecați.
For with a loud cry unclean spirits would come out of many possessed by them, and many that were palsied and lame were healed.
8 Și era mare bucurie în acea cetate.
There began to be great joy in that city.
9 Și un anume bărbat, numit Simon, era dinainte în cetate folosind vrăjitorie și fermecând oamenii Samariei, spunând că el însuși este cineva mare;
Now for some time a man named Simon had been practising sorcery in that city, and had amazed the people of Samaria. He gave himself out to be some great person.
10 Căruia toți îi dădeau atenție, de la cel mai mic la cel mai mare, spunând: Acest om este puterea cea mare a lui Dumnezeu.
Many from all classes would give heed to him, declaring, "This man is the Power of God, known as the Great Power."
11 Și îi dădeau atenție, din cauză că de mult timp îi fermecase cu vrăjitorii.
They were giving heed to him because, for a long time, he had amazed them with his sorceries.
12 Dar când l-au crezut pe Filip, predicând lucrurile împărăției lui Dumnezeu și numele lui Isus Cristos, au fost botezați deopotrivă bărbați și femei.
But when they believed Philip, who was preaching glad tidings about the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they began to be baptized, both men and women.
13 Atunci chiar Simon însuși a crezut; și după ce a fost botezat, continua cu Filip și se minuna, privind miracolele și semnele care erau făcute.
And Simon himself also believed, and after his baptism he remained with Philip, and was full of amazement as he beheld the signs and striking miracles which were performed.
14 Și când apostolii, care erau în Ierusalim, au auzit că Samaria a primit cuvântul lui Dumnezeu, au trimis la ei pe Petru și Ioan;
The apostle at Jerusalem, when they heard that Samaria had accepted the word of God, sent to them Peter and John.
15 Care, după ce au coborât, s-au rugat pentru ei să primească Duhul Sfânt;
Who came down and prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Spirit,
16 (Fiindcă până atunci nu căzuse peste niciunul dintre ei; doar că erau botezați în numele Domnului Isus.)
For he had not yet fallen upon any of them; they had simply been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
17 Atunci și-au pus mâinile peste ei și au primit Duhul Sfânt.
Then the apostles laid their hands upon them, and they received the Holy Spirit.
18 Și când a văzut Simon că prin punerea mâinilor apostolilor a fost dat Duhul Sfânt, le-a oferit bani,
But when Simon perceived that, by the laying on of the apostles’ hands, the Spirit was given, he offered them money saying,
19 Spunând: Dați-mi și mie această putere, ca pe oricine pun mâinile, să primească Duhul Sfânt.
"Give me, too, this power, so that on whomever I lay my hands, he may receive the Holy Spirit."
20 Dar Petru i-a spus: Banii tăi să piară cu tine, pentru că te-ai gândit că darul lui Dumnezeu poate fi cumpărat cu bani.
But Peter said to him. "Your money perish with you, because you have supposed that with money you can obtain God’s free gift!"
21 Tu nu ai nici parte nici sorț în acest lucru; fiindcă inima ta nu este dreaptă înaintea lui Dumnezeu.
"You have no part or lot in this matter." Your heart is not right in the sight of God.
22 Pocăiește-te așadar de acea stricăciune a ta și roagă-te lui Dumnezeu, dacă îți poate fi cumva iertat gândul inimii tale.
Repent then of this your wickedness, and beseech the Lord to forgive you this purpose of your heart.
23 Pentru că îmi dau seama că ești în fierea amărăciunii și legătura nedreptății.
"For I perceive that you still stand in the gall of bitterness and in the bondage of unrighteousness."
24 Atunci, Simon a răspuns și a zis: Rugați-vă Domnului pentru mine, ca niciunul dintre aceste lucruri pe care le-ați vorbit să nu vină peste mine.
And Simon answered, "Pray to the Lord for me, both of you, that nothing which you have said may happen to me."
25 Și ei, după ce au adeverit și au predicat cuvântul Domnului, s-au întors la Ierusalim și au predicat evanghelia în multe sate ale samaritenilor.
So the apostles, after bearing solemn witness, and declaring the message of the Lord, returned to Jerusalem, evangelizing many Samaritan villages as they went.
26 Și îngerul Domnului i-a vorbit lui Filip, spunând: Scoală-te și du-te spre sud, pe calea care coboară de la Ierusalim spre Gaza, care este pustie.
And an angel of the Lord spoke to Philip, saying, "Arise and go on your way south, along the road that runs down from Jerusalem to Gaza, the desert way."
27 Și s-a sculat și s-a dus; și iată, un bărbat din Etiopia, un famen cu mare putere la Candace, împărăteasa etiopienilor, care avea în grijă toată vistieria ei, care venise la Ierusalim să se închine,
So he arose and went. And behold an Ethiopian man, a eunuch, who was a high official (a chief treasurer) of Candace, the queen of Ethiopia, who had come to Jerusalem to worship
28 Se întorcea și ședea în carul său, citind din profetul Isaia.
Was now on his way home, and was reading the Prophet Isaiah as he sat in his chariot.
29 Atunci Duhul i-a spus lui Filip: Apropie-te și alătură-te acestui car.
And the Spirit said to Philip, "Go up and join that chariot."
30 Și Filip a alergat acolo și l-a auzit citind din profetul Isaia și a spus: Înțelegi ce citești?
So Philip ran up, and heard him reading Isaiah the Prophet, and said to him. "Do you understand what you are reading?"
31 Iar el a spus: Cum aș putea, dacă nu mă călăuzește cineva? Și i-a cerut lui Filip să urce și să șadă cu el.
The eunuch answered, "Why, how can I unless someone shall show me the way?" And he begged Philip to get up and sit with him.
32 Și locul din scriptură pe care îl citea era acesta: El a fost dus ca o oaie la măcel; și ca un miel necuvântător înaintea celui ce îl tunde, așa nu și-a deschis gura;
Now the portion of Scripture which he was reading was as follows. He was led a sheep to the slaughter; And as a lamb before its shearer is dumb, So he opened not his mouth.
33 În umilirea lui, judecata i-a fost luată; și generația sa, cine [o] va vesti? Fiindcă viața i-a fost luată de pe pământ.
In his humiliation justice was denied him. Who will declare his posterity? For his life is cut off from the earth.
34 Și famenul i-a răspuns lui Filip și a zis: Te rog, despre cine vorbește profetul acest lucru? Despre el însuși, sau despre altcineva?
"Pray," asked the eunuch of Philip, "of whom is the prophet speaking? Of himself, or of some one else?"
35 Atunci Filip și-a deschis gura și a început de la aceeași scriptură și i-a predicat pe Isus.
Then Philip opened his lips, and beginning from that same scripture, he preached the gospel of Jesus to him.
36 Și pe când mergeau pe cale, au ajuns la o apă oarecare și famenul a spus: Uite apă; ce mă împiedică să fiu botezat?
And as they were going on their way they came to a certain water, and the eunuch said. "See, here is water! What hinders my being baptized?"
37 Și Filip a spus: Dacă crezi din toată inima ta, este permis. Iar el a răspuns și a zis: Cred că Isus Cristos este Fiul lui Dumnezeu.
And Philip said, "If you believe with your whole heart, you may." The eunuch answered, "I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God."
38 Și a poruncit să stea carul; și au coborât amândoi în apă, deopotrivă Filip și famenul; și l-a botezat.
And he ordered the chariot to stop; and both of them, Philip and the eunuch, went down into the water, and Philip baptized him.
39 Și când au ieșit din apă, Duhul Domnului l-a răpit pe Filip, și famenul nu l-a mai văzut; și s-a dus pe calea sa, bucurându-se.
And when they had come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord snatched Philip away, and the eunuch saw him no more, but continued on his way rejoicing.
40 Iar Filip s-a aflat la Azot; și, traversând ținutul, predica în toate cetățile până a ajuns în Cezareea.
Philip found himself at Ashdod. Then visiting town after town, he kept preaching the good news in all the cities until he reached Caesarea.
