2 Samuel 5

1 Atunci au venit toate triburile lui Israel la David la Hebron și au vorbit, spunând: Iată, noi suntem osul tău și carnea ta.

Then came all the tribes of Israel to David unto Hebron, and spoke, saying, Behold us, thy bone and thy flesh are we;

2 Și odinioară, când Saul era împărat peste noi, tu erai cel care conduceai afară și aduceai înăuntru pe Israel; și DOMNUL ți-a spus: Tu vei paște poporul meu Israel și tu vei fi o căpetenie peste Israel.

Already yesterday, and even before, when Saul was king over us, thou wast the one that led out and brought in Israel: And the Lord said to thee, Thou shalt indeed feed my people Israel, and thou shalt be a chief over Israel.

3 Astfel, toți bătrânii lui Israel au venit la împărat la Hebron; și împăratul David a făcut alianță cu ei în Hebron înaintea DOMNULUI; și l-au uns pe David împărat peste Israel.

Thus came all the elders of Israel to the king unto Hebron; and king David made a covenant with them in Hebron before the Lord: and they anointed David as king over Israel.

4 David era în vârstă de treizeci de ani când a început să domnească și el a domnit patruzeci de ani.

Thirty years was David old when he became king, [and] forty years he reigned.

5 În Hebron a domnit peste Iuda șapte ani și șase luni; și în Ierusalim a domnit treizeci și trei de ani peste tot Israelul și Iuda.

In Hebron he reigned over Judah seven years and six months: and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty and three years over all Israel and Judah.

6 Și împăratul și oamenii săi au mers la Ierusalim la iebusiți, locuitorii țării, care vorbiseră lui David, spunând: Dacă nu îndepărtezi pe orbi și pe șchiopi, tu nu vei intra aici; gândind: David nu poate intra aici.

And the king and his men went to Jerusalem against the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land; who said unto David, as followeth, Thou shalt not come in hither, except thou [first] remove away the blind and the lame: meaning, David cannot come in hither.

7 Totuși David a luat întăritura Sionului; aceeași este cetatea lui David.

Nevertheless David captured the strong-hold of Zion; the same is the city of David.

8 Și David a spus în acea zi: Oricine se urcă la apeduct și lovește pe iebusiți și pe șchiopi și pe orbi, care sunt urâți de sufletul lui David, el va fi mai marele și căpetenie. De aceea ei au spus: Orbul și șchiopul nu vor intra în casă.

And David said on that day, Whosoever will smite the Jebusites, and reach the aqueduct and the lame and the blind, that are hateful to David's soul, —Wherefore people usually say, The blind and the lame shall not come into the house.

9 Astfel David a locuit în fortăreață și a numit-o cetatea lui David. Și David a zidit de jur împrejur de la Milo și spre interior.

And David dwelt in the fort, and he called it “The City of David.” And David built [it] round about from the Millo and inward.

10 Și David a mers înainte și a devenit mare și DOMNUL Dumnezeul oștirilor era cu el.

And David went on, and became greater and greater, and the Lord the God of hosts was with him.

11 Și Hiram, împăratul Tirului, a trimis mesageri la David și cedri și tâmplari și pietrari; și ei i-au clădit lui David o casă.

And Hiram the king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and cedar-trees, and carpenters, and stone-masons: and they built a house for David.

12 Și David a priceput că DOMNUL îl întemeiase împărat peste Israel și că înălțase împărăția sa de dragul poporului său Israel.

And David felt conscious that the Lord has established him as king over Israel, and that he had exalted his kingdom for the sake of his people Israel.

13 Și David și-a luat mai multe concubine și soții din Ierusalim, după ce a venit de la Hebron; și i s-au mai născut încă fii și fiice lui David.

And David took yet more concubines and wives out of Jerusalem, after he was come from Hebron; and there were born to David yet [more] sons and daughters.

14 Și acestea sunt numele celor care i s-au născut în Ierusalim: Șamua și Șobab și Natan și Solomon,

And these are the names of those that were born unto him in Jerusalem: Shammua', and Shobab, and Nathan, and Solomon,

15 Și Ibhar și Elișua și Nefeg și Iafia,

And Yibchar, and Elishua', and Nepheg, and Yaphia',

16 Și Elișama și Eliada și Elifelet.

And Elishama', and Elyada', and Eliphelet.

17 Dar când filistenii au auzit că îl unseseră pe David împărat peste Israel, toți filistenii au urcat să îl caute pe David; și David a auzit despre aceasta și a coborât la fortăreață.

But when the Philistines heard that the people had anointed David as king over Israel, all the Philistines came up to seek David: and David heard of it, and went down to the strong-hold.

18 Filistenii de asemenea au venit și s-au răspândit în Valea Refaim.

The Philistines also came and spread themselves out in the valley of Rephaim.

19 Și David a întrebat pe DOMNUL, spunând: Să mă urc împotriva filistenilor? Îi vei da în mâna mea? Și DOMNUL i-a spus lui David: Urcă-te, pentru că voi da fără îndoială pe filisteni în mâna ta.

And David asked counsel of the Lord, saying, shall I go up against the Philistines? wilt thou deliver them into my hand? And the Lord said unto David, Go up; for I will certainly deliver the Philistines into thy hand.

20 Și David a venit la Baal-Perațim și David i-a lovit acolo și a spus: DOMNUL a izbucnit peste dușmanii mei înaintea mea, ca spărtura apelor. De aceea a pus acelui loc numele Baal-Perațim.

And David came to Ba'al-perazim, and David smote them there, and said, The Lord hath broken down my enemies before me, as a breach [is made by] water. Wherefore he called the name of that place Ba'al-perazim.

21 Și acolo și-au lăsat idolii lor și David și oamenii săi i-au ars.

And they left behind there their idols, and David and his men burnt them.

22 Și filistenii s-au urcat din nou și s-au răspândit în Valea Refaim.

And the Philistines came up once again, and spread themselves out in the valley of Rephaim.

23 Și când David a întrebat pe DOMNUL, el a spus: Să nu te urci; ci înconjoară-i prin spate și să mergi asupra lor înaintea duzilor.

And when David asked counsel of the Lord, he said, Thou shalt not go up; but turn about and fall in the rear of them, and come upon them opposite to the mulberry-trees.

24 Și să fie astfel, când auzi un sunet de umblet în vârfurile duzilor, grăbește-te, atunci să te miști; fiindcă atunci DOMNUL va merge înaintea ta, ca să lovească oștirea filistenilor.

And it shall be, when thou hearest the sound of walking on the top of the mulberry-trees, that thou shalt then bestir thyself; for then will the Lord go out before thee, to smite in the camp of the Philistines.

25 Și David a făcut astfel, precum DOMNUL îi poruncise; și a lovit pe filisteni de la Gheba până la Ghezer.

And David did so, as the Lord had commanded him; and he smote the Philistines from Geba' until thou comest to Gezer.
