2 Samuel 21
1 Atunci a fost o foamete în zilele lui David, trei ani, an după an; și David a întrebat pe DOMNUL și DOMNUL a răspuns: Este pentru Saul și pentru casa lui sângeroasă, fiindcă i-a ucis pe gabaoniți.
Also hungur was maad in the lond of Israel in the daies of Dauid, bi thre yeer contynueli. And Dauid counselide the answere of the Lord; and the Lord seide, For Saul, and his hows, and blood, for he killide men of Gabaon.
2 Și împăratul i-a chemat pe gabaoniți și le-a spus; (acum, gabaoniții nu erau dintre copiii lui Israel, ci din rămășița amoriților; și copiii lui Israel le juraseră; dar Saul a căutat să îi ucidă în zelul său pentru copiii lui Israel și Iuda.)
Therfor whanne Gabaonytis weren clepid, the kyng seide to hem; sotheli Gabaonytis ben not of the sones of Israel, but thei ben the relikys of Ammorreis; and the sones of Israel hadden swore to hem, `that is, that thei schulden not `be slayn, and Saul wolde smyte hem for feruent loue, as for the sones of Israel and of Juda;
3 De aceea David a spus gabaoniților: Ce să fac pentru voi? Și cu ce să fac ispășirea, ca să binecuvântați moștenirea DOMNULUI?
therfor Dauid seide to Gabaonytis, What schal Y do to you, and what schal be youre amendis, that ye blesse the eritage of the Lord?
4 Și gabaoniții i-au spus: Nu avem nevoie nici de argint nici de aur de la Saul sau de la casa lui, nici să omori pentru noi vreun om din Israel. Iar el a spus: Ceea ce veți spune, aceea voi face pentru voi.
And Gabaonytis seiden to hym, No questioun is to vs on gold and siluer, but ayens Saul, and ayens his hows; nether we wolen, that a man of Israel be slayn. To whiche the kyng seide, What therfor wolen ye, that Y do to you?
5 Și ei au răspuns împăratului: Omul care ne-a mistuit și a plănuit împotriva noastră ca să fim nimiciți de a mai rămâne în vreunul din ținuturile lui Israel,
Whiche seiden to the king, We owen to do awei so the man, that `al to brak ethir defoulide vs, and oppresside wickidli, that not oon sotheli be residue of his generacioun in alle the coostis of Israel.
6 Să ne fie dați șapte bărbați dintre fiii lui și îi vom spânzura înaintea DOMNULUI la Ghibea lui Saul, pe care DOMNUL l-a ales. Și împăratul a spus: Îi voi da.

7 Dar împăratul a cruțat pe Mefiboșet, fiul lui Ionatan, fiul lui Saul, pentru jurământul DOMNULUI care era între ei, între David și Ionatan, fiul lui Saul.
And the kyng sparide Myphibosech, sone of Jonathas, sone of Saul, for the ooth of the Lord, that was bitwixe Dauid and bitwixe Jonathas, sone of Saul.
8 Dar împăratul a luat pe cei doi fii ai lui Rițpa, fiica lui Aia, pe care ea îi născuse lui Saul, pe Armoni și pe Mefiboșet și pe cei cinci fii ai lui Mical, fiica lui Saul, pe care ea îi crescuse pentru Adriel, fiul lui Barzilai meholatitul.
Therfor the kyng took twei sones of Respha, douyter of Ahira, whiche sche childide to Saul, Armony, and Mysphibosech; and he took fyue sones of Mychol, douyter of Saul, whiche sche gendride to Adriel, sone of Berzellai, that was of Molaty.
9 Și el i-a dat în mâinile gabaoniților și ei i-au spânzurat pe deal înaintea DOMNULUI; și au căzut toți cei șapte împreună și au fost dați la moarte în zilele secerișului, în primele zile, la începutul secerișului orzului.
And he yaf hem in to the hondis of Gabaonytis, whiche crucifieden tho sones in the hil bifor the Lord; and these seuene felden slayn togidere in the daies of the firste rep, whanne the repyng of barli bigan.
10 Și Rițpa, fiica lui Aia, a luat pânză de sac și și-a întins-o pe stâncă, de la începutul secerișului până când apă a picurat peste ei din cer și nu a lăsat nici păsărilor cerului să se așeze pe ei ziua, nici fiarelor câmpului noaptea.
Forsothe Respha, douytir of Ahia, took an heire, and `araiede to hir silf a place aboue the stoon, fro the bigynnyng of heruest til watir droppide `on hem fro heuene; and sche suffride not briddis to tere hem bi dai, nether beestis bi nyyt.
11 Și i s-a spus lui David ce făcuse Rițpa, fiica lui Aia, concubina lui Saul.
And tho thingis whiche Respha, secoundarie wijf of Saul, douytir of Ahia, hadde do, weren teld to Dauid.
12 Și David a mers și a luat oasele lui Saul și oasele lui Ionatan, fiul său, de la oamenii din Iabes-Galaad, care le furaseră din piața Bet-Șanului, unde filistenii îi spânzuraseră, când filistenii îl uciseseră pe Saul la Ghilboa;
And Dauid yede, and took the boonys of Saul, and the boonys of Jonathas, his sone, of the men of Jabes of Galaad; that hadden stole tho boonys fro the street of Bethsan, in which street the Filisteis hadden hangid hem, whanne thei hadden slayn Saul in Gelboe.
13 Și a adus de acolo oasele lui Saul și oasele lui Ionatan, fiul său; și au adunat oasele celor care fuseseră spânzurați.
And Dauid bar out fro thennus the boonys of Saul, and the boonys of Jonathas, his sone; and thei gaderiden the boonys of hem that weren crucified, and birieden tho with the boonys of Saul and of Jonathas, his sone, in the lond of Beniamyn, in the side of the sepulcre of Cys, fadir of Saul.
14 Și oasele lui Saul și ale lui Ionatan, fiul său, le-au îngropat la Țela, în țara lui Beniamin, în mormântul lui Chiș, tatăl său; și au împlinit tot ce împăratul poruncise. Și după aceasta, Dumnezeu a fost implorat pentru țară.
And thei diden al thingis, what euer thingis the kyng comaundide; and the Lord dide mercy to the lond aftir these thingis.
15 Mai mult, filistenii au avut din nou război cu Israel; și David a coborât, el și servitorii lui și au luptat împotriva filistenilor; și David a obosit.
Forsothe batel of Filisteis was maad eft ayens Israel; and Dauid yede doun, and hise seruauntis with hym, and fouyten ayen Filisteis.
16 Și Ișbi-Benob, care era dintre fiii uriașului, greutatea suliței lui era de trei sute de șekeli de aramă în greutate, el fiind încins cu o sabie nouă, s-a gândit să îl ucidă pe David.

17 Dar Abișai, fiul Țeruiei, l-a ajutat și l-a lovit pe filistean și l-a ucis. Atunci oamenii lui David i-au jurat, spunând: Să nu mai ieși cu noi la bătălie, ca să nu stingi lumina lui Israel.
And Abisai, sone of Saruye, was in help to Dauid; and he smoot and killide the Filistei. Than the men of Dauid sworen, and seiden, Now thou schalt not go out with vs in to batel, lest thou quenche the lanterne of Israel.
18 Și s-a întâmplat, după aceasta, că a fost din nou o bătălie cu filistenii la Gob; atunci Sibecai hușatitul l-a ucis pe Saf, care era dintre fiii uriașului.
Also the secounde batel was in Gob ayens Filisteis; thanne Sobothai of Osothai smoot Zephi, of the generacioun of Arapha, of the kyn of giauntis.
19 Și a fost din nou o bătălie la Gob cu filistenii, unde Elhanan, fiul lui Iaare-Oreghim, un betleemit, l-a ucis pe fratele lui Goliat ghititul, mânerul suliței acestuia fiind ca bârna unui țesător.
Also the thridde batel was in Gob ayens Filisteis; in which batel a man youun of God, the sone of forest, a broiderer, a man of Bethleem, smoot Golyath of Geth, whos `schaft of spere was as a beem of webbis.
20 Și a fost încă o bătălie la Gat, unde era un om de o statură foarte mare, care avea la fiecare mână șase degete și la picioare șase degete, douăzeci și patru la număr; și el de asemenea i se născuse uriașului.
The fourthe batel was in Geth; where ynne was an hiy man, that hadde sixe fyngris in the hondis and feet, that is, foure and twenti; and he was of the kyn of Arapha;
21 Și când el a sfidat pe Israel, Ionatan, fiul lui Șimea, fratele lui David, l-a ucis.
and he blasfemyde Israel; sotheli Jonathan, sone of Samaa, brother of Dauid, killide hym.
22 Aceștia patru i-au fost născuți uriașului la Gat, și au căzut prin mâna lui David și prin mâna servitorilor săi.
These foure weren borun of Arapha in Geth, and thei felden doun in the hond of Dauid, and of hise seruauntis.
