2 Petru 1
1 Simon Petru, rob și apostol al lui Isus Cristos, celor ce au obținut împreună cu noi o credință la fel de prețioasă prin dreptatea Dumnezeului și Salvatorului nostru Isus Cristos,
Simon Peter, a bondservant and Apostle of Jesus Christ: To those to whom there has been allotted the same precious faith as that which is ours through the righteousness of our God and of our Saviour Jesus Christ.
2 Har și pace să vă fie înmulțite prin cunoașterea lui Dumnezeu și a Domnului nostru Isus.
May more and more grace and peace be granted to you in a full knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord,
3 Așa cum dumnezeiasca lui putere ne-a dăruit toate lucrurile pentru viață și evlavie, prin cunoașterea celui ce ne-a chemat la glorie și virtute,
seeing that His divine power has given us all things that are needful for life and godliness, through our knowledge of Him who has appealed to us by His own glorious perfections.
4 Prin care ne sunt dăruite cele mai mari și prețioase promisiuni, ca prin acestea să deveniți părtași naturii dumnezeiești, ați scăpat de putreziciunea care este în lume prin poftă.
It is by means of these that He has granted us His precious and wondrous promises, in order that through them you may, one and all, become sharers in the very nature of God, having completely escaped the corruption which exists in the world through earthly cravings.
5 Și în afară de aceasta, dându-vă toată silința, adăugați credinței voastre virtutea; și la virtute, cunoașterea;
But for this very reason--adding, on your part, all earnestness-- along with your faith, manifest also a noble character: along with a noble character, knowledge;
6 Și la cunoaștere, înfrânarea; și la înfrânare, răbdarea; și la răbdare, evlavia;
along with knowledge, self-control; along with self-control, power of endurance;
7 Și la evlavie, bunătatea frățească; și la bunătate frățească, dragostea creștină.
along with power of endurance, godliness; along with godliness, brotherly affection; and along with brotherly affection, love.
8 Căci dacă acestea sunt în voi și abundă, [vă] fac să nu fiți nici inactivi, nici neroditori în cunoașterea Domnului nostru Isus Cristos.
If these things exist in you, and continually increase, they prevent your being either idle or unfruitful in advancing towards a full knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
9 Dar celui ce îi lipsesc acestea este orb și nu poate vedea departe și a uitat că a fost curățat de vechile lui păcate.
For the man in whom they are lacking is blind and cannot see distant objects, in that he has forgotten that he has been cleansed from his old sins.
10 De aceea, fraților, mai degrabă străduiți-vă să faceți neclintită chemarea și alegerea voastră, căci dacă faceți acestea, niciodată nu veți cădea,
For this reason, brethren, be all the more in earnest to make sure that God has called you and chosen you; for it is certain that so long as you practise these things, you will never stumble.
11 Fiindcă astfel din abundență vă va fi dată intrare în împărăția veșnică a Domnului și Salvatorului nostru Isus Cristos. (aiōnios g166)
And so a triumphant admission into the eternal Kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ will be freely granted to you. (aiōnios g166)
12 De aceea nu voi neglija să vă amintesc totdeauna despre acestea, deși le știți și sunteți întemeiați în adevărul prezent cu [voi].
For this reason I shall always persist in reminding you of these things, although you know them and are stedfast believers in truth which you already possess.
13 Dar consider drept, cât timp sunt în acest tabernacol, să vă stârnesc prin aducerea aminte,
But I think it right, so long as I remain in the body, my present dwelling-place, to arouse you by such reminders.
14 Știind că în curând trebuie să pun deoparte acest tabernacol al meu, așa cum mi-a arătat Domnul nostru Isus Cristos.
For I know that the time for me to lay aside my body is now rapidly drawing near, even as our Lord Jesus Christ has revealed to me.
15 Mai mult, mă voi strădui ca voi să fiți în stare după moartea mea să vă amintiți acestea de fiecare dată.
So on every possible occasion I will also do my best to enable you to recall these things after my departure.
16 Fiindcă nu am urmat fabulații iscusit plănuite când v-am făcut cunoscută puterea și venirea Domnului nostru Isus Cristos, ci am fost martori oculari ai maiestății sale.
For when we made known to you the power and Coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, we were not eagerly following cleverly devised legends, but we had been eye-witnesses of His majesty.
17 Fiindcă a primit de la Dumnezeu Tatăl onoare și glorie când a venit la el o astfel de voce din maiestuoasa glorie: Acesta este Fiul meu preaiubit, în care îmi găsesc toată plăcerea.
He received honour and glory from God the Father, and out of the wondrous glory words such as these were spoken to Him, "This is My dearly-loved Son, in whom I take delight."
18 Și această voce, care a venit din cer, noi am auzit pe când eram împreună cu el pe muntele sfânt.
And we ourselves heard these words come from Heaven, when we were with Him on the holy mountain.
19 Și avem un mai sigur cuvânt al profeției, la care bine faceți că luați seama, ca la o lumină ce strălucește într-un loc întunecat până ce se luminează de ziuă, și steaua dimineții răsare în inimile voastre;
And in the written word of prophecy we have something more permanent; to which you do well to pay attention--as to a lamp shining in a dimly-lighted place--until day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.
20 Știind întâi aceasta, că nicio profeție a scripturii nu se interpretează singură.
But, above all, remember that no prophecy in Scripture will be found to have come from the prophet's own prompting;
21 Fiindcă profeția nu a venit în vechime prin voia omului, ci oameni sfinți ai lui Dumnezeu au vorbit purtați de Duhul Sfânt.
for never did any prophecy come by human will, but men sent by God spoke as they were impelled by the Holy Spirit.
