2 Petru 3
1 Acum, preaiubiților, vă scriu această a doua epistolă, în care stârnesc mințile voastre pure prin aducere aminte,
This second letter, beloved, I now write to you, in both which I stir up your pure minds by putting you in remembrance;
2 Ca să fiți mereu cu aducere aminte a cuvintelor care au fost vorbite mai înainte de către sfinții profeți și a poruncii noastre, apostolii Domnului și Salvatorului;
that ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of the Lord and Saviour by your apostles;
3 Știind întâi aceasta, că vor veni batjocoritori în zilele de pe urmă, umblând conform propriilor pofte,
knowing this first, that there will come in the last days open scoffers following their own lusts,
4 Și spunând: Unde este promisiunea venirii lui? Fiindcă de când au adormit părinții noștri, toate continuă la fel de la începutul creației.
and saying, Where is his promised coming? for, from the time when the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as then, and as they have continued from the beginning of the creation.
5 Fiindcă referitor la aceasta ei sunt ignoranți în mod voit, că prin cuvântul lui Dumnezeu cerurile au fost din vechime și pământul arătându-se din apă și în apă,
For of this they are willingly ignorant, that of old by the word of God there were heavens, and an earth formed out of the water and by the water,
6 Prin care lumea, care era atunci, a pierit fiind potopită cu apă;
by means of which the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished;
7 Dar cerurile și pământul de acum prin același cuvânt sunt păstrate, [fiind] rezervate focului pentru ziua judecății și a pieirii oamenilor neevlavioși.
but the present heavens and the present earth are by his word kept in store, reserved for fire against the day of judgment and the perdition of ungodly men.
8 Dar preaiubiților, să nu fiți ignoranți referitor la acest lucru, că o zi înaintea Domnului este ca o mie de ani și o mie de ani ca o zi.
But forget not, beloved, this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
9 Domnul nu întârzie referitor la promisiunea lui, așa cum unii socotesc întârziere, ci este îndelung răbdător față de noi și nu dorește ca cineva să piară, ci toți să vină la pocăință.
The Lord is not tardy concerning his promise, as some men count tardiness; but is long-suffering toward you, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
10 Dar ziua Domnului va veni ca un hoț în noapte; în acea zi cerurile vor trece cu zgomot mare, iar elementele se vor topi cu căldură mare; de asemenea pământul și faptele care sunt pe el vor fi arse în întregime.
But the day of the Lord will come as a thief; in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat, and the earth and the works that are therein will be burned up.
11 Văzând, așadar, că toate acestea se vor descompune, ce fel de oameni ar trebui să fiți voi în comportare sfântă și evlavie,
Seeing that all these things are thus to be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in holy conduct and godliness,
12 Așteptând și grăbindu-vă spre venirea zilei lui Dumnezeu, în care cerurile fiind în foc se vor descompune și elementele se vor topi cu căldură mare?
looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, by reason of which the heavens being on fire will be dissolved, and the elements will melt with fervent heat!
13 Cu toate acestea, conform promisiunii lui, așteptăm ceruri noi și un pământ nou, în care locuiește dreptatea.
But, according to his promise, we look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.
14 De aceea, preaiubiților, văzând că așteptați astfel de lucruri, străduiți-vă să fiți găsiți de el în pace, nepătați și ireproșabili.
Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for these things, be diligent that ye may be found without spot and blameless before him in peace,
15 Și socotiți că îndelunga răbdare a Domnului nostru este salvare; precum v-a scris și vouă preaiubitul nostru frate Pavel, conform cu înțelepciunea dată lui,
and account the long-suffering of our Lord salvation; as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given to him, wrote to you,
16 Precum și în toate epistolele sale a vorbit în ele despre acestea; în ele sunt unele lucruri greu de înțeles, pe care cei ce sunt neînvățați și nestatornici le pervertesc, cum fac și cu celelalte scripturi, spre propria lor nimicire.
as also in all his letters, speaking in them of these things; in which things are some that are hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as also the other Scriptures, to their own destruction.
17 De aceea voi, preaiubiților, văzând că știți dinainte aceste lucruri, păziți-vă ca nu cumva, fiind abătuți de rătăcirea celor nelegiuiți, să cădeți din statornicia voastră.
Do ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things beforehand, beware lest, being led away with the error of the lawless, ye fall from your own steadfastness.
