2 Corinteni 10
1 Și, eu însumi, Pavel, vă implor prin blândețea și bunăvoința lui Cristos, eu care în prezență sunt înjosit printre voi, dar, fiind absent, sunt cutezător față de voi,
Moreover, I, Paul, myself, exhort you, through the meekness and considerateness of the Christ, —I who, to look upon, indeed, am lowly toward you, but, absent, am bold towards you; —
2 Vă implor, așadar, ca să nu fiu cutezător când sunt prezent, cu acea încredere cu care gândesc să fiu cutezător împotriva unora, care gândesc despre noi ca și cum am umbla conform cărnii.
I entreat, however, that, when present, I may not be bold with the assurance wherewith I think to be daring against some who account of us as though, according to flesh, we were walking, —
3 Măcar că umblăm în carne, nu ne războim conform cărnii,
For, though, in flesh, we walk, not, according to flesh, do we war, —
4 (Fiindcă armele războiului nostru nu sunt carnale, ci puternice prin Dumnezeu pentru surparea fortificațiilor),
For, the weapons of our warfare, are not fleshly, but mighty, by God, unto a pulling down of strongholds, —
5 Doborând imaginațiile minții și fiecare lucru înalt care se ridică pe el însuși împotriva cunoașterii lui Dumnezeu și înrobind fiecare gând ascultării față de Cristos;
When we pull down, calculations, and every height that uplifteth itself against the knowledge of God, and when we bring into captivity every thought unto the obedience of the Christ,
6 Și fiind gata a pedepsi fiecare neascultare, când ascultarea voastră va fi împlinită.
And when we hold ourselves, in readiness, to avenge all disobedience, as soon as your obedience shall be fulfilled!
7 Vă uitați la lucruri după înfățișare? Dacă cineva se încrede în el însuși că este al lui Cristos, să se mai gândească la aceasta în el însuși, că așa cum este el al lui Cristos, așa suntem și noi ai lui Cristos.
The things that lie on the surface, ye are looking at: —if anyone hath come to trust in himself that he is, Christ’s, this, let him reckon, again, with himself—that, even as, he, is Christ’s, so, also are, we.
8 Căci chiar dacă m-aș făli cu ceva mai mult despre autoritatea noastră, pe care Domnul ne-a dat-o pentru edificare și nu pentru nimicirea voastră, nu aș fi rușinat;
Yea, if, somewhat more abundantly, I should boast concerning our authority—which the Lord hath given for building up and not for pulling you down, I shall not be put to shame, —
9 Ca nu cumva să par ca și cum v-aș înfricoșa prin epistole.
That I may not seem as though I would be terrifying you through means of my letters;
10 Fiindcă epistolele lui, spun ei, sunt grele și tari, dar prezența lui trupească este slabă și vorbirea lui este de disprețuit.
Because, The letters, it is true (saith one), are weighty and strong, but, the presence of the body, is weak, and, the discourse, contemptible; —
11 Să gândească un astfel de om aceasta, că, așa cum suntem în cuvânt prin epistole, când suntem absenți, tot astfel vom fi și în faptă, când suntem prezenți.
This, let such a one reckon—that, what we are, in our word, through means of letters, being absent, such, also, being present, are we, in our deed.
12 Fiindcă nu cutezăm să ne facem din numărul, sau să ne comparăm cu unii ce se recomandă pe ei înșiși, dar ei, măsurându-se prin ei înșiși și comparându-se între ei înșiși, nu sunt înțelepți.
For we dare not class or compare ourselves with some who do, themselves, commend; but, they, among themselves, measuring, themselves, and comparing themselves with themselves, are without discernment!
13 Dar noi nu ne vom făli cu lucruri în afara măsurii [noastre], ci conform cu măsura standardului pe care Dumnezeu ni l-a împărțit, o măsură care să ajungă chiar până la voi.
We, however, not as to the things without measure, will boast ourselves, but, according to the measure of the limit which God apportioned unto us, as a measure—to reach as far as even you!
14 Fiindcă nu ne întindem peste măsura noastră, ca și cum nu am fi ajuns până la voi, fiindcă am ajuns chiar până la voi în predicarea evangheliei lui Cristos;
For, not as though we were not reaching unto you, are we over-stretching ourselves, for, as far as even you, were we beforehand in the glad-message of the Christ:
15 Nu ne fălim cu lucruri în afara măsurii noastre, adică cu muncile altora, dar avem speranță, după ce credința voastră va fi sporită, că ne vom lărgi între voi, conform cu standardul nostru,
Not, as to the things without measure, boasting ourselves in other men’s toils, but having, hope—your faith, growing—among you, to be enlarged, according to our limit for something beyond, —
16 Să predicăm evanghelia în ținuturile care sunt dincolo de voi și să nu ne fălim cu domeniul de lucru al altuia, cu lucruri pregătite [deja] la îndemâna noastră.
Unto the regions beyond you, to carry the glad-message: not, within another man’s limit, as to the things made ready, to boast ourselves.
17 Dar cel ce se laudă, să se laude în Domnul.
He that boasteth, however, in the Lord, let him boast;
18 Fiindcă nu cel ce se recomandă pe sine însuși este aprobat, ci cel pe care recomandă Domnul.
For, not he that commendeth himself, he, is approved, but he whom, the Lord, doth commend.
