1 Și Solomon a hotărât să construiască o casă pentru numele DOMNULUI și o casă pentru împărăția sa.
And Solomon determined to build a house to the name of the Lord, and a palace for himself.
2 Și Solomon a numărat șaptezeci de mii de bărbați să poarte sarcini și optzeci de mii să cioplească piatră la munte și trei mii șase sute să îi supravegheze.
And he numbered out seventy thousand men to bear burdens, and eighty thousand to hew stones in the mountains, and three thousand six hundred to oversee them.
3 Și Solomon a trimis la Hiram, împăratul Tirului, spunând: Așa cum te-ai purtat cu David, tatăl meu, și i-ai trimis cedri să își construiască o casă în care să locuiască, tot astfel poartă-te cu mine.
He sent also to Hiram king of Tyre, saying: As thou didst with David my father, and didst send him cedars, to build him a house, in which he dwelt:
4 Iată, eu construiesc o casă numelui DOMNULUI Dumnezeul meu, să i–o dedic lui și să ard înaintea lui tămâie dulce și pentru pâinile punerii înainte neîncetat și pentru ofrande arse dimineața și seara, în sabate și la lunile noi și la sărbătorile solemne ale DOMNULUI Dumnezeul nostru. Aceasta este o rânduială pentru totdeauna pentru Israel.
So do with me that I may build a house to the name of the Lord my God, to dedicate it to burn incense before him, and to perfume with aromatical spices, and for the continual setting forth of bread, and for the holocausts, morning and evening, and on the sabbaths, and on the new moons, and the solemnities of the Lord our God for ever, which are commanded for Israel.
5 Și casa pe care o construiesc este mare, fiindcă mare este Dumnezeul nostru, peste toți dumnezeii.
For the house which I desire to build, is great: for our God is great above all gods.
6 Dar cine este în stare să îi construiască o casă, văzând că cerul și cerul cerurilor nu pot să îl cuprindă? cine sunt eu atunci să îi construiesc o casă, în afară doar de a arde sacrificiu înaintea lui?
Who then can be able to build him a worthy house? if heaven, and the heavens of heavens cannot contain him: who am I that I should be able to build him a house? but to this end only, that incense may be burnt before him.
7 Trimite-mi de aceea un bărbat iscusit să muncească cu aur și cu argint și cu aramă și cu fier și cu purpură și cu stacojiu și cu albastru și care știe să cioplească împreună cu oamenii iscusiți care sunt cu mine în Iuda și în Ierusalim, de care David, tatăl meu, s-a îngrijit să mi-i dea.
Send me therefore a skillful man, that knoweth how to work in gold, and in silver, in brass, and in iron, in purple, in scarlet and in blue, and that hath skill in engraving, with the artificers, which I have with me in Judea and Jerusalem, whom David my father provided.
8 Trimite-mi de asemenea cedri, brazi și santal din Liban, căci cunosc că servitorii tăi știu să taie lemnărie în Liban; și, iată, servitorii mei vor fi cu servitorii tăi,
Send me also cedars, and fir trees, and pine trees from Libanus: for I know that thy servants are skillful in cutting timber in Libanus, and my servants shall be with thy servants,
9 Și să îmi pregătească lemnărie din abundență, căci casa pe care mă pregătesc să o construiesc va fi minunată și mare.
To provide me timber in abundance. For the house which I desire to build, is to be exceeding great, and glorious.
10 Și, iată, voi da servitorilor tăi, tăietorii care taie lemnărie, douăzeci de mii de măsuri de grâu bătut, douăzeci de mii de măsuri de orz și douăzeci de mii de bați de vin și douăzeci de mii de bați de untdelemn.
And I will give thy servants the workmen that are to cut down the trees, for their food twenty thousand cores of wheat, and as many cores of barley, and twenty thousand measures of wine, and twenty thousand measures of oil.
11 Atunci Hiram, împăratul Tirului, i-a răspuns într-un înscris, pe care l-a trimis la Solomon: Pentru că DOMNUL a iubit pe poporul său, te-a făcut împărat peste ei.
And Hiram king of Tyre sent a letter to Solomon, saying: Because the Lord hath loved his people, therefore he hath made thee king over them.
12 Hiram a mai spus: Binecuvântat fie DOMNUL Dumnezeul lui Israel, care a făcut cerul și pământul, care i-a dat împăratului David un fiu înțelept, umplut cu chibzuință și înțelegere, care să poată construi o casă pentru DOMNUL și o casă pentru împărăția sa.
And he added, saying: Blessed be the Lord the God of Israel, who made heaven and earth, who hath given to king David a wise and knowing son, endued with understanding and prudence, to build a house to the Lord, and a palace for himself.
13 Și acum, ți-am trimis un bărbat iscusit, umplut cu înțelegere, de-al tatălui meu, Hiram,
I therefore have sent thee my father Hiram, a wise and most skillful man,
14 Fiul unei femei dintre fiicele lui Dan, și tatăl său a fost un bărbat din Tir, iscusit în lucrarea cu aur și cu argint și cu aramă și cu fier și cu piatră și cu lemnărie și cu purpură și cu albastru și cu in subțire și cu stacojiu, de asemenea să cioplească orice fel de cioplitură și să conceapă orice plan care i se va da, cu oamenii tăi iscusiți și cu oamenii iscusiți ai domnului meu David, tatăl tău.
The son of a woman of the daughters of Dan, whose father was a Tyrian, who knoweth how to work in gold, and in silver, in brass, and in iron, and in marble, and in timber, in purple also, and violet, and silk and scarlet: and who knoweth to grave all sort of graving, and to devise ingeniously all that there may be need of in the work with thy artificers, and with the artificers of my lord David thy father.
15 Și, de aceea, grâul și orzul, untdelemnul și vinul, despre care domnul meu a vorbit, să îl trimită servitorilor săi;
The wheat therefore, and the barley and the oil, and the wine, which thou, my lord, hast promised, send to thy servants.
16 Și vom tăia lemn din Liban, cât de mult ai nevoie; și ți-l vom aduce pe plute, pe mare, la Iafo; și tu îl vei duce până la Ierusalim.
And we will cut down as many trees out of Libanus, as thou shalt want, and will convey them in floats by sea to Joppe: and it will be thy part to bring them thence to Jerusalem.
17 Și Solomon a numărat pe toți străinii care erau în țara lui Israel, după numărătoarea cu care David, tatăl său, i-a numărat; și s-au găsit o sută cincizeci și trei de mii șase sute.
And Solomon numbered all the proselytes in the land of Israel, after the numbering which David his father had made, and they were found a hundred and fifty-three thousand and six hundred.
18 Și a pus pe șaptezeci de mii dintre ei să fie purtători de sarcini și optzeci de mii să fie cioplitori, la munte, și trei mii șase sute supraveghetori, să pună poporul la muncă.
And he set seventy thousand of them to carry burdens on their shoulders, and eighty thousand to hew stones in the mountains: and three thousand and six hundred to be overseers of the work of the people.
