2 Cronici 17
1 Și Iosafat, fiul său, a domnit în locul său și s-a întărit împotriva lui Israel.
And Josaphat his son reigned in his stead, Josaphat strengthened himself against Israel.
2 Și a pus trupe în toate cetățile întărite din Iuda și a pus garnizoane în țara lui Iuda și în cetățile lui Efraim, pe care Asa, tatăl său, le luase.
And he put garrisons in all the strong cities of Juda, and appointed captains in all the cities of Juda, and in the cities of Ephraim, which Asa his father had taken.
3 Și DOMNUL a fost cu Iosafat, deoarece a umblat în căile dintâi ale tatălui său, David, și nu a căutat pe Baali,
And the Lord was with Josaphat, for he walked in the first ways of his father, and did not seek to idols;
4 Ci l-a căutat pe DOMNUL Dumnezeul tatălui său și a umblat în poruncile lui și nu după faptele lui Israel.
but he sought to the Lord God of his father, and walked in the commandments of his father, and not according to the works of Israel.
5 De aceea DOMNUL a întemeiat împărăția în mâna lui și tot Iuda a adus lui Iosafat daruri; și el a avut bogății și onoare din abundență.
And the Lord prospered the kingdom in his hand; and all Juda gave gifts to Josaphat; and he had great wealth and glory.
6 Și inima lui a fost înălțată în căile DOMNULUI; mai mult, a îndepărtat înălțimile și dumbrăvile din Iuda.
And his heart was exalted in the way of the Lord; and he removed the high places and the groves from the land of Juda.
7 De asemenea, în al treilea an al domniei lui, a trimis după prinții săi: Ben-Hail și Obadia și Zaharia și Natanael și Micaia, pentru a învăța poporul în cetățile lui Iuda.
And in the third year of his reign, he sent his chief men, and his mighty men, Abdias and Zacharias, and Nathanael, and Michaias, to teach in the cities of Juda.
8 Și cu ei a trimis leviți: pe Șemaia și pe Netania și pe Zebadia și pe Asael și pe Șemiramot și pe Ionatan și pe Adonia și pe Tobia și pe Tob-Adonia, leviții; și cu ei pe Elișama și pe Ioram, preoții.
And with them [were] the Levites, Samaias, and Nathanias, and Zabdias, and Asiel, and Semiramoth, and Jonathan, and Adonias, and Tobias, and Tobadonias, Levites, and with them Elisama and Joram, the priests.
9 Și ei au învățat poporul în Iuda și au avut cartea legii DOMNULUI cu ei și au mers prin toate cetățile lui Iuda și au învățat poporul.
And they taught in Juda, and [there was] with them the book of the law of the Lord, and they passed through the cities of Juda, and taught the people.
10 Și frica DOMNULUI a căzut peste toate împărățiile țărilor în jurul lui Iuda, astfel încât nu au făcut război împotriva lui Iosafat.
And a terror of the Lord was upon all the kingdoms of the land round about Juda, and they made no war against Josaphat.
11 De asemenea câțiva dintre filisteni au adus lui Iosafat daruri și tribut de argint; și arabii i-au adus turme, șapte mii șapte sute de berbeci și șapte mii șapte sute de țapi.
And [some] of the Philistines brought to Josaphat gifts, and silver, and presents; and the Arabians brought him seven thousand seven hundred rams.
12 Și Iosafat s-a înălțat mult peste măsură; și a construit cetățui în Iuda și cetăți de provizii.
And Josaphat increased in greatness exceedingly, and built in Judea places of abode, and strong cities.
13 Și a avut multe afaceri în cetățile lui Iuda; și bărbații de război, războinicii viteji, erau în Ierusalim.
And he had many works in Judea: and the mighty men of war, [the men] of strength, [were] in Jerusalem.
14 Și acesta este numărul lor, conform casei părinților lor: Din Iuda, căpeteniile peste mii: Adna, mai marele, și cu el războinici viteji, trei sute de mii.
And this [is] their number according to the houses of their fathers; even the captains of thousands in Juda [were], Ednas the chief, and with him mighty men of strength three hundred thousand.
15 Și lângă el era căpetenia Iohanan și cu el două sute optzeci de mii.
And after him, Joanan the captain, and with him two hundred eighty thousand.
16 Și lângă el era Amasia, fiul lui Zicri, care de bunăvoie s-a oferit DOMNULUI; și cu el două sute de mii de războinici viteji.
And after him Amasias the [son] of Zari, who was zealous for the Lord; and with him two hundred thousand mighty men of strength.
17 Și din Beniamin: Eliada, un războinic viteaz, și cu el bărbați înarmați cu arc și scut, două sute de mii.
And out of Benjamin [there was] a mighty man of strength, even Eliada, and with him two hundred thousand archers and targeteers.
18 Și lângă el era Iozabad și cu el o sută optzeci de mii, gata pregătiți pentru război.
And after him Jozabad, and with him a hundred and eighty thousand mighty men of war.
19 Aceștia au servit împăratului, în afară de aceia pe care împăratul i-a pus în cetățile întărite prin tot Iuda.
These were the king's servants besides those whom the king put in the strong cities in all Judea.
