1 Timotei 3
1 Acesta este un cuvânt adevărat: Dacă vreun om dorește serviciul de episcop, dorește o lucrare bună.
This is a faithful saying: If someone aspires to the office of an overseer, he desires a good work.
2 Episcopul așadar trebuie să fie ireproșabil, soțul unei singure soții, vigilent, cumpătat, cu o comportare bună, ospitalier, în stare să învețe pe alții;
The overseer, therefore, must be beyond criticism, the husband of one wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, good at teaching;
3 Nu dedat vinului, nu bătăuș, nu lacom de câștig murdar, ci răbdător, nu arțăgos, nu lacom;
not a drunkard, not violent, but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money;
4 Conducând-și bine propria casă, ținându-și copiii în supunere cu toată seriozitatea;
one who rules his own house well, having children in subjection with all reverence;
5 (Căci dacă cineva nu știe cum să își conducă [bine] propria casă, cum va îngriji de biserica lui Dumnezeu?)
(but if someone does not know how to manage his own house, how will he take care of the congregation of God?)
6 Nu convertit de curând, ca nu cumva umflându-se de mândrie să cadă în condamnarea diavolului.
not a new convert, lest being puffed up he fall into the same condemnation as the devil.
7 Mai mult, el trebuie să aibă o bună mărturie de la cei de afară, ca nu cumva să cadă în ocară și în cursa diavolului.
Moreover he must have good testimony from those who are outside, to avoid falling into disgrace and the trap of the devil.
8 Tot așa, diaconii să fie onorabili, nu cu o vorbire cu două sensuri, nu dedați la mult vin, nu lacomi de câștig murdar;
Shammashim, in the same way, must be reverent, not double-tongued, not devoted to a lot of wine, not greedy for money;
9 Ținând misterul credinței într-o conștiință pură.
holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience.
10 Iar aceștia de asemenea să fie întâi încercați, apoi să lucreze în serviciul de diacon, fiind găsiți ireproșabili.
Let them also first be tested; then let them serve as shammashim if they are blameless.
11 În același fel, soțiile lor să fie onorabile, nu defăimătoare, cumpătate, credincioase în toate.
Their wives in the same way must be reverent, not slanderers, temperate, faithful in all things.
12 Diaconii să fie soți ai unei singure soții, conducându-și bine copiii și propriile lor case.
Let shammashim be husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well.
13 Fiindcă toți cei ce au lucrat bine în serviciul de diacon, își câștigă o poziție de demnitate și mare cutezanță în credința care este în Cristos Isus.
For those who have served well as shammashim gain for themselves a good standing, and great boldness in the faith which is in Messiah Yeshua.
14 Îți scriu acestea, sperând să vin la tine în curând,
These things I write to you, hoping to come to you shortly;
15 Dar dacă voi întârzia mai mult, să știi cum ar trebui să te comporți în casa lui Dumnezeu, care este biserica Dumnezeului cel viu, stâlpul și baza adevărului.
but if I wait long, that you may know how people ought to behave themselves in the house of God, which is the congregation of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.
16 Și fără a se putea contesta, mare este misterul evlaviei: Dumnezeu a fost arătat în carne, declarat drept în Duhul, văzut de îngeri, predicat neamurilor, a fost crezut în lume și primit sus în glorie.
Without controversy, the mystery of godliness is great: He was revealed in the flesh, justified by the Ruach, seen by angels, preached among the nations, believed on in the world, and received up in glory.
