1 Tesoloniceni 2
1 Fiindcă voi înșivă, fraților, știți intrarea noastră la voi, că nu a fost în zadar;
For you know, brethren, our coming unto you, that it was not in vain:
2 Dar și după ce am suferit înainte și am fost ocărâți, precum știți, în Filipi, am fost cutezători în Dumnezeul nostru să vă vorbim evanghelia lui Dumnezeu cu multă luptă.
but having suffered, and been abused, as you know, at Philippi, we were bold in our God to speak to you the gospel of God in much conflict.
3 Fiindcă îndemnul nostru nu a fost din înșelăciune, nici din necurăție, nici în viclenie,
For our exhortation was not from delusion, nor from impurity, nor in guile:
4 Ci, așa cum am fost aprobați de Dumnezeu pentru a fi încredințați cu evanghelia, chiar așa vorbim; nu ca plăcând oamenilor, ci lui Dumnezeu, care încearcă inimile noastre.
but as we were approved of God that the gospel should be intrusted unto us, so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God who is proving our hearts,
5 Fiindcă niciodată nu am folosit cuvinte lingușitoare, precum știți, nicio manta ce ascunde lăcomia; Dumnezeu este martor;
For at that time we were not in word of flattery, as you know, nor in a pretext of covetousness, God is our witness;
6 Nici nu am căutat glorie de la oameni, nici de la voi, nici de la alții, când am fi putut fi o greutate ca apostoli ai lui Cristos.
nor seeking glory from men, nor from you, nor from others, being able to be burdensome, as the apostles of Christ;
7 Ci am fost blânzi în mijlocul vostru, chiar așa cum o dădacă se îngrijește cu afecțiune de copiii ei.
but we were gentle in the midst of you, as if a nurse may cherish her children;
8 Astfel, tânjind cu drag după voi, eram gata să vă împărtășim nu doar evanghelia lui Dumnezeu, ci și propriile noastre suflete, pentru că ne erați preaiubiți.
being so desirous of you, that we are anxious not only to give the gospel of God, but our own souls, because you are beloved unto us.
9 Fiindcă vă amintiți, fraților, munca și durerea noastră, căci, muncind noapte și zi, deoarece nu doream să fim împovărători niciunuia dintre voi, v-am predicat evanghelia lui Dumnezeu.
For you remember, brethren, our labor and toil: night and day working, that we should burden no one of you, we preached unto you the gospel of God.
10 Voi sunteți martori și Dumnezeu la fel, cât de sfânt și drept și ireproșabil ne-am comportat printre voi, cei care credeți;
You are witnesses, and God, how sacredly and righteously and blamelessly we were unto you who believed:
11 După cum știți cum v-am îndemnat și mângâiat și am adus mărturie fiecăruia dintre voi, ca un tată copiilor lui,
as you know, exhorting each one of you, as a father of his own children, and comforting you,
12 Ca să umblați demn de Dumnezeu, care v-a chemat la împărăția și gloria sa.
and testifying, that you walk worthily of God, who calls you into his own kingdom and glory.
13 Din această cauză și mulțumim lui Dumnezeu neîncetat, deoarece, când ați primit cuvântul lui Dumnezeu pe care l-ați auzit de la noi, ați primit nu cuvântul oamenilor, ci așa cum este în adevăr, cuvântul lui Dumnezeu care lucrează cu putere și în voi care credeți.
And on account of this we also give thanks to God incessantly, because, receiving the word of God from us by hearing, you received it not as the word of men, but, as it truly is, the word of God, who indeed works in you who believe.
14 Fiindcă voi, fraților, v-ați făcut urmași ai bisericilor lui Dumnezeu, care, în Iudeea, sunt în Cristos Isus, pentru că și voi ați suferit lucruri asemănătoare de la concetățenii voștri, ca și ei de la iudei,
For ye, brethren, became imitators of the churches of God which are in Judea in Jesus Christ: because you suffered the same things from your fellow tribes, as they also from the Jews;
15 Care, deopotrivă, au ucis pe Domnul Isus și pe propriii lor profeți și ne-au persecutat; și nu plac lui Dumnezeu și sunt împotriva tuturor oamenilor,
who even killed the Lord Jesus and the prophets, and persecuted us, and are displeasing to God, and hostile to all men;
16 Oprindu-ne să vorbim neamurilor ca să fie salvate, pentru a umple complet măsura păcatelor lor totdeauna, căci furia a venit peste ei pe deplin.
forbidding that we should speak to the Gentiles in order that they may be saved; that they may fill up their sins always: but the wrath is come upon them to the uttermost.
17 Dar noi, fraților, fiind luați de la voi pentru un timp scurt, în înfățișare, nu în inimă, cu mare dorință, ne-am străduit tot mai mult să vă vedem fața.
But, brethren, we having been absent from you for the space of an hour, in presence, not in heart, we were the more exceedingly anxious to see your face with much desire.
18 De aceea am fi voit să venim la voi, chiar eu, Pavel, o dată și încă o dată; dar Satan ne-a împiedicat.
Because we wish to come to you, I Paul indeed both once and twice; and Satan hindered me.
19 Fiindcă ce este speranța noastră, sau bucuria, sau coroana bucuriei? Nu sunteți chiar voi în prezența Domnului nostru Isus Cristos la venirea sa?
For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing, except you, in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming?
20 Fiindcă voi sunteți gloria și bucuria noastră.
For you are our glory and joy.
