1 Samuel 12

1 Și Samuel a spus întregului Israel: Iată, am dat ascultare vocii voastre în tot ce mi-ați spus și am pus un împărat peste voi.

And Samuel said unto all Israel, Lo! I have hearkened unto your voice, in all that ye said to me, —and have set over you a king.

2 Și acum, iată, împăratul umblă înaintea voastră; și eu sunt bătrân și încărunțit; și, iată, fiii mei sunt cu voi și eu am umblat înaintea voastră din copilăria mea până în această zi.

Now, therefore, lo! the king going to and fro before you, But, I, am old and grey-headed, and, my sons, lo! they are with you, —But, I, have gone to and fro before you from my youth until this day.

3 Iată-mă, mărturisiți împotriva mea înaintea DOMNULUI și înaintea unsului său; al cui bou l-am luat? Sau al cui măgar l-am luat? Sau pe cine am escrocat? Sau pe cine am oprimat? Sau din mâna cui am primit vreo mită cu care să îmi orbesc ochii? Și vă voi da înapoi.

Behold me! testify against me, before Yahweh, and before his Anointed—Whose, ox, have I taken? or whose, ass, have I taken? or whom have I oppressed? Whom have I crushed? or at whose, hands, have I taken a bribe, to cover up mine eyes therewith? and I will restore it unto you.

4 Și ei au spus: Nu ne-ai escrocat, nici nu ne-ai oprimat, nici nu ai luat ceva din mâna vreunui om.

And they said, Thou hast not oppressed us, neither hast thou crushed us, —neither hast thou taken, at the hand of any man, any thing.

5 Iar el le-a zis: DOMNUL este martor împotriva voastră și unsul său este martor în această zi, că nu ați găsit ceva în mâna mea. Și ei au spus: El este martor.

And he said unto them—Witness, is Yahweh against you, and, witness, is his Anointed, this day, that ye have not found in my hand, any thing! And they said: Witness!

6 Și Samuel a spus poporului: DOMNUL este cel care a rânduit pe Moise și pe Aaron și care a scos pe părinții voștri din țara Egiptului.

And Samuel said unto the people: Witness, is Yahweh, who wrought with Moses and with Aaron, and who brought up your fathers out of the land of Egypt.

7 De aceea acum, stați să mă judec cu voi înaintea DOMNULUI de toate faptele drepte ale DOMNULUI, pe care vi le-a făcut el, vouă și părinților voștri.

Now, therefore, take your stand and let me plead with you, before Yahweh, —and tell you all the righteous acts of Yahweh, which he wrought with you, and with your fathers:

8 Când Iacob a venit în Egipt și părinții voștri au strigat către DOMNUL, atunci DOMNUL a trimis pe Moise și pe Aaron, care au scos pe părinții voștri din Egipt și i-au făcut să locuiască în locul acesta.

How that, when Jacob had come into Egypt, —and your fathers had made outcry unto Yahweh, then Yahweh sent Moses and Aaron, and they brought forth your fathers out of Egypt, and he caused them to dwell in this place;

9 Și când ei au uitat pe DOMNUL Dumnezeul lor, el i-a vândut în mâna lui Sisera, căpetenie a oștirii Hațorului și în mâna filistenilor și în mâna împăratului Moabului și ei au luptat împotriva lor.

And, when they forgat Yahweh their God, he sold them into the hand of Sisera, prince of the host of Jabin, king of Hazor, and into the hand of the Philistines, and into the hand of the king of Moab, and they fought against them;

10 Și ei au strigat către DOMNUL și au spus: Am păcătuit, pentru că am părăsit pe DOMNUL și am servit Baalilor și Astarteelor; dar acum eliberează-ne din mâna dușmanilor noștri și îți vom servi.

But, when they made outcry unto Yahweh and said—We have sinned, in that we have forsaken Yahweh, and have served the Baals and the Ashtoreths, —now, therefore, deliver us out of the hand of our enemies, that we may serve thee,

11 Și DOMNUL a trimis pe Ierub-Baal și pe Bedan și pe Iefta și pe Samuel și v-a eliberat din mâna dușmanilor voștri, de fiecare parte, și voi ați locuit în siguranță.

then Yahweh sent Jerubbaal and Bedan, and Jephthah, and Samuel, —and delivered you out of the hand of your enemies, on every side, and ye dwelt in safety.

12 Și când ați văzut că Nahaș, împăratul copiilor lui Amon, a venit împotriva voastră, mi-ați spus: Nu; ci un împărat să domnească peste noi; când DOMNUL Dumnezeul vostru era împăratul vostru.

But, when ye saw that, Nahash king of the sons of Ammon, came upon you, then said ye unto me, Nay! but, a king, shall reign over us, when, Yahweh your God, was your king!

13 De aceea acum, iată, pe împăratul pe care l-ați ales și pe care l-ați dorit. Și, iată, DOMNUL a pus un împărat peste voi.

Now, therefore, lo! the king whom ye have chosen, for whom ye have asked, —lo! therefore, Yahweh hath set over you a king.

14 Dacă vă veți teme de DOMNUL și îi veți servi și veți asculta de vocea lui și nu vă veți răzvrăti împotriva poruncii DOMNULUI, atunci atât voi cât și împăratul care domnește peste voi veți continua să urmați pe DOMNUL Dumnezeul vostru;

If ye will revere Yahweh, and serve him, and hearken unto his voice, and not rebel against the bidding of Yahweh, then shall, both ye and your king that reigneth over you, continue to follow after Yahweh your God.

15 Dar dacă nu veți asculta de vocea DOMNULUI, ci vă veți răzvrăti împotriva poruncii DOMNULUI, atunci mâna DOMNULUI va fi împotriva voastră, precum era împotriva părinților voștri.

But, if ye hearken not unto the voice of Yahweh, but rebel against the bidding of Yahweh, then will the hand of Yahweh continue to be against you, and against your fathers.

16 De aceea acum, stați în picioare și vedeți acest lucru mare, pe care îl va face DOMNUL înaintea ochilor voștri.

Even now, stand still and see this great thing, —which Yahweh is about to do before your eyes:

17 Nu este astăzi secerișul grâului? Eu voi striga către DOMNUL și el va trimite tunete și ploaie; ca să pricepeți și să vedeți că stricăciunea voastră, pe care ați făcut-o în ochii DOMNULUI, cerând pentru voi un împărat, este mare.

Is it not wheat harvest, to-day? I will cry unto Yahweh, that he may give forth thunderings and rain, —know ye then and see, that, your wrong, is great which ye have done in the sight of Yahweh, in asking for yourselves, a king.

18 Astfel Samuel a strigat către DOMNUL; și DOMNUL a trimis tunete și ploaie în acea zi; și tot poporul s-a temut mult de DOMNUL și de Samuel.

So Samuel cried unto Yahweh, and Yahweh gave forth thunderings and rain, on that day, —and all the people greatly feared Yahweh, and Samuel.

19 Și tot poporul a spus lui Samuel: Roagă-te pentru servitorii tăi DOMNULUI Dumnezeul tău, ca să nu murim, pentru că am adăugat la toate păcatele noastre acest rău, de a cere pentru noi un împărat.

And all the people said unto Samuel—Pray for thy servants, unto Yahweh thy God, and let it not be that we die, —For we have added, to all our sins, a wrong, in asking for ourselves a king.

20 Și Samuel a spus poporului: Nu vă temeți; ați făcut toată această stricăciune; numai nu vă abateți de la a-l urma pe DOMNUL, ci serviți DOMNULUI cu toată inima voastră;

Then said Samuel unto the people—Do not fear, ye, have done all this wrong, —nevertheless, do not turn aside from following Yahweh, but serve Yahweh, with all your heart;

21 Și nu vă abateți, pentru că atunci ați merge după lucruri deșarte, care nu folosesc, nici nu eliberează, pentru că acestea sunt deșertăciune.

and turn not aside after vanities, that can neither profit nor deliver, because, vanities, they are.

22 Pentru că DOMNUL nu va uita pe poporul său, pentru numele său cel mare; deoarece i-a plăcut DOMNULUI să vă facă poporul său.

For Yahweh will not give up his people, because of his great name, for Yahweh was minded to make you his people.

23 Mai mult, cât despre mine, nicidecum nu voi păcătui împotriva DOMNULUI, încetând să mă rog pentru voi; ci vă voi învăța calea cea bună și dreaptă;

As for me also, far be it from me, that I should sin against Yahweh, by ceasing to pray for you, —but I will direct you, in the good and right way.

24 Numai temeți-vă de DOMNUL și serviți-i în adevăr, cu toată inima voastră; luați aminte ce lucruri mari a făcut cu voi!

Only, revere Yahweh, and serve him in truth, with all your heart, —for see, what great things he hath done with you.

25 Dar, dacă vă veți purta cu stricăciune, veți fi mistuiți, deopotrivă voi și împăratul vostru.

But, if ye, will do wrong, both ye and your king shall be swept away.
