1 Şi s-a întâmplat după aceste lucruri, că Nabot izreelitul avea o vie în Izreel, care era în Izreel, lângă palatul lui Ahab, împăratul Samariei.
And after these things, Naboth the Jezrahelite, who was in Jezrahel, had at that time a vineyard near the palace of Achab king of Samaria.
2 Şi Ahab i-a vorbit lui Nabot, spunând: Dă-mi via ta, pentru a o avea ca grădină de verdeţuri, pentru că aceasta este aproape de casa mea; şi îţi voi da pentru ea o vie mai bună decât ea; sau, dacă ţi se pare bine, îţi voi da valoarea ei în bani.
And Achab spoke to Naboth, saying: Give me thy vineyard, that I may make me a garden of herbs, because it is nigh, and adjoining to my house, and I will give thee for it a better vineyard: or if thou think it more convenient for thee, I will give thee the worth of it in money.
3 Şi Nabot i-a spus lui Ahab: Departe fie de DOMNUL, ca eu să îţi dau moştenirea părinţilor mei.
Naboth answered him: The Lord be merciful to me, and not let me give thee the inheritance of my fathers.
4 Şi Ahab a intrat în casa lui trist şi nemulţumit din cauza cuvântului pe care Nabot izreelitul i-l vorbise, pentru că spusese: Nu îţi voi da moştenirea părinţilor mei. Şi s-a culcat pe patul său şi şi-a întors faţa şi a refuzat să mănânce pâine.
And Achab came into his house angry and fretting, because of the word that Naboth the Jezrahelite had spoken to him, saying: I will not give thee the inheritance of my fathers. And casting himself upon his bed, he turned away his face to the wall, and would eat no bread.
5 Dar Izabela, soţia lui, a venit la el şi i-a spus: De ce este duhul tău atât de trist încât nu mănânci pâine?
And Jezabel his wife went in to him, and said to him: What is the matter that thy soul is so grieved? and why eatest thou no bread?
6 Iar el i-a zis: Pentru că am vorbit lui Nabot izreelitul şi i-am spus: Dă-mi via ta pentru bani; sau altfel, dacă îţi place, îţi voi da o altă vie pentru aceasta; şi el a răspuns: Nu îţi voi da via mea.
And he answered her: I spoke to Naboth the Jezrahelite, and said to him: Give me thy vineyard, and take money for it: or if it please thee, I will give thee a better vineyard for it. And he said: I will not give thee my vineyard.
7 Şi Izabela, soţia sa, i-a zis: Nu guvernezi tu acum împărăţia lui Israel? Ridică-te şi mănâncă pâine şi inima să îţi fie veselă; eu îţi voi da via lui Nabot izreelitul.
Then Jezabel his wife said to him: Thou art of great authority indeed, and governest well the kingdom of Israel. Arise, and eat bread, and be of good cheer, I will give thee the vineyard of Naboth the Jezrahelite.
8 Astfel, ea a scris scrisori în numele lui Ahab şi le-a sigilat cu sigiliul său şi a trimis scrisorile la bătrânii şi la nobilii care erau în cetatea lui, locuind cu Nabot.
So she wrote letter’s in Achab’s name, and sealed them with his ring, and sent them to the ancients, and the chief men that were in his city, and that dwelt with Naboth.
9 Şi ea a scris în scrisori, spunând: Proclamaţi un post şi înălţaţi pe Nabot printre oameni;
And this was the tenor of the letters: Proclaim a fast, and make Naboth sit among the chief of the people,
10 Şi puneţi doi oameni, fii ai lui Belial, înaintea lui, pentru a aduce mărturie împotriva lui, spunând: Tu ai blasfemiat pe Dumnezeu şi pe împărat. Şi apoi scoateţi-l şi împroşcaţi-l cu pietre încât să moară.
And suborn two men, sons of Belial against him, and let them bear false witness: that he hath blasphemed God and the king: and then carry him out, and stone him, and so let him die.
11 Şi oamenii cetăţii lui, bătrânii şi nobilii care erau locuitorii cetăţii lui, au făcut precum Izabela a trimis la ei şi precum era scris în scrisorile pe care li le trimisese ea.
And the men of his city, the ancients and nobles, that dwelt with him in the city, did as Jezabel had commanded them, and as it was written in the letters which she had sent to them:
12 Ei au proclamat un post şi l-au înălţat pe Nabot printre oameni;
They proclaimed a fast, and made Naboth sit among the chief of the people.
13 Şi au intrat doi oameni, copii ai lui Belial, şi au stat în picioare înaintea lui; şi oamenii lui Belial au mărturisit împotriva lui, împotriva lui Nabot, în prezenţa poporului, spunând: Nabot a blasfemiat pe Dumnezeu şi pe împărat. Apoi l-au scos din cetate şi l-au împroşcat cu pietre, încât el a murit.
And bringing two men, sons of the devil, they made them sit against him: and they, like men of the devil, bore witness against him before the people, saying: Naboth hath blasphemed God and the king: wherefore they brought him forth without the city, and stoned him to death.
14 Atunci au trimis la Izabela, spunând: Nabot a fost împroşcat cu pietre şi este mort.
And they sent to Jezabel, saying: Naboth is stoned, and is dead.
15 Şi s-a întâmplat, când Izabela a auzit că Nabot fusese împroşcat cu pietre şi era mort, că Izabela i-a spus lui Ahab: Ridică-te, i-a în stăpânire via lui Nabot izreelitul, pe care a refuzat să ţi-o dea pentru bani, pentru că Nabot nu mai este în viaţă, ci este mort.
And it came to pass when Jezabel heard that Naboth was stoned, and dead, that she said to Achab: Arise and take possession of the vineyard of Naboth the Jezrahelite, who would not agree with thee, and give it thee for money: for Naboth is not alive, but dead.
16 Şi s-a întâmplat, când Ahab a auzit că Nabot era mort, că Ahab s-a ridicat să coboare în via lui Nabot izreelitul, pentru a o lua în stăpânire.
And when Achab heard this, to wit, that Naboth was dead, he arose, and went down to the vineyard of Naboth the Jezrahelite, to take possession of it.
17 Şi cuvântul DOMNULUI a venit la Ilie tişbitul, spunând:
And the word of the Lord came to Elias the Thesbite, saying:
18 Ridică-te, coboară pentru a-l întâlni pe Ahab, împăratul lui Israel, care este în Samaria; iată, el este în via lui Nabot, unde a coborât pentru a o lua în stăpânire.
Arise, and go down to meet Achab king of Israel, who is in Samaria: behold he is going down to the vineyard of Naboth, to take possession of it:
19 Şi să îi vorbeşti, spunând: Astfel spune DOMNUL: Ai ucis şi ai şi luat de asemenea în stăpânire? Şi să îi vorbeşti, spunând: Astfel spune DOMNUL: În locul unde câinii au lins sângele lui Nabot vor linge câinii sângele tău, chiar pe al tău.
And thou shalt speak to him, saying: Thus saith the Lord: Thou hast slain, moreover also thou hast taken possession. And after these words thou shalt add: Thus saith the Lord: In this place, wherein the dogs have licked the blood of Naboth, they shall lick thy blood also.
20 Şi Ahab i-a spus lui Ilie: M-ai găsit, o duşmanul meu? Iar el i-a răspuns: Te-am găsit, pentru că te-ai vândut pentru a lucra ce este rău în ochii DOMNULUI.
And Achab said to Elias: Hast thou found me thy enemy? He said: I have found thee, because thou art sold, to do evil in the sight of the Lord.
21 Iată, voi aduce răul asupra ta şi voi îndepărta posteritatea ta şi voi stârpi din Ahab pe cel care urinează la perete şi pe cel închis şi pe cel rămas în Israel,
Behold I will bring evil upon thee, and I will cut down thy posterity, and I will kill of Achab him that pisseth against the wall, and him that is shut up, and the last in Israel.
22 Şi voi face casa ta precum casa lui Ieroboam, fiul lui Nebat, şi precum casa lui Baaşa, fiul lui Ahiia, pentru provocarea cu care m-ai provocat la mânie şi ai făcut pe Israel să păcătuiască.
And I will make thy house like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nabat, and like the house of Baasa the son of Ahias: for what thou hast done, to provoke me to anger, and for making Israel to sin.
23 Şi despre Izabela de asemenea a vorbit DOMNUL, spunând: Câinii o vor mânca pe Izabela lângă zidul de la Izreel.
And of Jezabel also the Lord spoke, saying: The dogs shall eat Jezabel in the field of Jezrahel.
24 Pe cel ce moare din Ahab în cetate câinii îl vor mânca; şi pe cel ce moare în câmp, îl vor mânca păsările cerului.
If Achab die in the city, the dogs shall eat him: but if he die in the field, the birds of the air shall eat him.
25 Dar nu fusese nimeni asemenea lui Ahab, care să se fi vândut pentru a lucra stricăciune în ochii DOMNULUI, pe care Izabela, soţia sa, îl stârnea.
Now there was not such another as Achab, who was sold to do evil in the sight of the Lord: for his wife Jezabel set him on,
26 Şi a lucrat cu groaznică urâciune în urmarea idolilor, conform cu toate lucrurile pe care le-au făcut amoriţii, pe care DOMNUL îi alungase dinaintea copiilor lui Israel.
And he became abominable, insomuch that he followed the idols which the Amorrhites had made, whom the Lord destroyed before the face of the children of Israel.
27 Şi s-a întâmplat, după ce Ahab a auzit aceste cuvinte, că şi-a rupt hainele şi a pus sac pe carnea lui şi a postit şi s-a culcat în sac şi umbla încet.
And when Achab had heard these words, he rent his garments, and put haircloth upon his flesh, and fasted and slept in sackcloth, and walked with his head cast down.
28 Şi cuvântul DOMNULUI a venit la Ilie tişbitul, spunând:
And the word of the Lord came to Elias the Thesbite, saying:
29 Vezi cum s-a umilit Ahab înaintea mea? Pentru că s-a umilit înaintea mea, nu voi aduce răul în zilele sale; ci în zilele fiului său voi aduce răul asupra casei lui.
Hast thou not seen Achab humbled before me? therefore, because he hath humbled himself for my sake, I will not bring the evil in his days, but in his son’s days will I bring the evil upon his house.
