1 Şi împăratul David era bătrân şi înaintat în vârstă şi îl acopereau cu haine, dar nu se încălzea.
And King David [is] old, entering into days, and they cover him with garments, and he has no heat,
2 De aceea servitorii săi i-au spus: Să se caute pentru domnul nostru împăratul o tânără fecioară; şi ea să stea înaintea împăratului şi să îl îngrijească şi să se culce la sânul tău, ca domnul meu, împăratul, să aibă căldură.
and his servants say to him, “Let them seek [for] a young woman, a virgin, for my lord the king, and she has stood before the king, and is a companion to him, and has lain in your bosom, and my lord the king has heat.”
3 Astfel, au căutat o fată frumoasă în toate ţinuturile lui Israel şi au găsit pe Abişag, o sunamită, şi au adus-o la împărat.
And they seek [for] a beautiful young woman in all the border of Israel, and find Abishag the Shunammite, and bring her to the king,
4 Şi fata era foarte frumoasă şi l-a îngrijit pe împărat şi i-a servit; dar împăratul nu a cunoscut-o.
and the young woman [is] very, very beautiful, and she is a companion to the king, and serves him, and the king has not known her.
5 Atunci Adonia, fiul Haghitei, s-a înălţat, spunând: Eu voi fi împărat; şi şi-a pregătit care şi călăreţi şi cincizeci de oameni să alerge înaintea lui.
And Adonijah son of Haggith is lifting himself up, saying, “I reign”; and he prepares for himself a chariot and horsemen, and fifty men running before him,
6 Şi tatăl său nu l-a nemulţumit vreodată, spunându-i: De ce ai făcut astfel? Şi el de asemenea era un bărbat foarte frumos; şi mama lui l-a născut după Absalom.
and his father has not grieved him [all] his days, saying, “Why have you done this?” And he also [is] of a very good form, and [his mother] bore him after Absalom.
7 Şi el s-a sfătuit cu Ioab, fiul Ţeruiei, şi cu preotul Abiatar; şi ei, urmându-l pe Adonia, l-au ajutat.
And his words are with Joab son of Zeruiah, and with Abiathar the priest, and they help after Adonijah;
8 Dar preotul Ţadoc şi Benaia, fiul lui Iehoiada, şi profetul Natan şi Şimei şi Rei şi războinicii care aparţineau lui David nu erau cu Adonia.
and Zadok the priest, and Benaiah son of Jehoiada, and Nathan the prophet, and Shimei, and Rei, and the mighty ones whom David has, have not been with Adonijah.
9 Şi Adonia a înjunghiat oi şi boi şi vite îngrăşate lângă piatra Zohelet, care este lângă En-Roguel, şi a chemat pe toţi fraţii săi, fiii împăratului, şi pe toţi bărbaţii lui Iuda, servitorii împăratului;
And Adonijah sacrifices sheep and oxen and fatlings near the stone of Zoheleth that [is] by En-Rogel, and calls all his brothers, sons of the king, and for all the men of Judah, servants of the king;
10 Dar pe profetul Natan şi pe Benaia şi pe războinici şi pe fratele său, Solomon, nu i-a chemat.
and he has not called Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah, and the mighty ones, and his brother Solomon.
11 De aceea Natan i-a vorbit lui Bat-Şeba, mama lui Solomon, spunând: Nu ai auzit că Adonia, fiul lui Haghita, domneşte şi domnul nostru David nu ştie aceasta?
And Nathan speaks to Bathsheba, mother of Solomon, saying, “Have you not heard that Adonijah son of Haggith has reigned, and our lord David has not known?
12 De aceea acum, vino, te rog, lasă-mă să îţi dau un sfat, ca să îţi salvezi viaţa ta şi viaţa fiului tău, Solomon.
And now, come, please let me counsel you, and deliver your life and the life of your son Solomon;
13 Du-te şi intră la împăratul David şi spune-i: Nu ai jurat tu roabei tale, domnul meu, o împărate, spunând: Cu siguranţă Solomon, fiul tău, va domni după mine şi el va şedea pe tronul meu? De ce atunci Adonia domneşte?
go and enter in to King David, and you have said to him: Have you not, my lord, O king, sworn to your handmaid, saying, Surely your son Solomon reigns after me, and he sits on my throne? And why has Adonijah reigned?
14 Iată, pe când vorbeşti tu încă acolo cu împăratul, eu de asemenea voi intra după tine şi voi confirma cuvintele tale.
Behold, you are yet speaking there with the king, and I come in after you, and have completed your words.”
15 Şi Bat-Şeba a intrat la împărat în cameră; şi împăratul era foarte bătrân; şi Abişag sunamita servea împăratului.
And Bathsheba comes in to the king, [into] the inner chamber, and the king [is] very aged, and Abishag the Shunammite is serving the king;
16 Şi Bat-Şeba s-a plecat şi s-a prosternat înaintea împăratului. Şi împăratul a spus: Ce doreşti?
and Bathsheba bows and pays respect to the king, and the king says, “What do you [want]?”
17 Şi ea i-a spus: DOMNUL meu, tu ai jurat roabei tale pe DOMNUL Dumnezeul tău, spunând: Negreşit, Solomon, fiul tău, va domni după mine şi el va şedea pe tronul meu.
And she says to him, “My lord, you have sworn by your God YHWH to your handmaid, [saying], Surely your son Solomon reigns after me, and he sits on my throne;
18 Şi acum, iată, Adonia domneşte; şi acum, domnul meu, împărate, tu nu ştii aceasta.
and now, behold, Adonijah has reigned, and now, my lord, O king, you have not known;
19 Şi el a înjunghiat boi şi vite îngrăşate şi oi din abudenţă şi a chemat pe toţi fiii împăratului şi pe preotul Abiatar şi pe Ioab, căpetenia oştirii, dar pe servitorul tău Solomon nu l-a chemat.
and he sacrifices ox, and fatling, and sheep in abundance, and calls for all the sons of the king, and for Abiathar the priest, and for Joab head of the host—and he has not called for your servant Solomon.
20 Şi, domnul meu împărate, ochii întregului Israel sunt asupra ta, ca să le spui cine va şedea pe tronul domnului meu, împăratul, după el.
And you, my lord, O king, the eyes of all Israel [are] on you, to declare to them who sit on the throne of my lord the king after him;
21 Altfel, se va întâmpla, după ce domnul meu, împăratul, va adormi cu părinţii săi, că eu şi fiul meu, Solomon, vom fi socotiţi vinovaţi.
and it has been, when my lord the king lies with his fathers, that I have been, I and my son Solomon—[reckoned] sinners.”
22 Şi, iată, pe când ea încă vorbea cu împăratul, profetul Natan a intrat de asemenea.
And behold, she is yet speaking with the king, and Nathan the prophet has come in;
23 Şi i-au spus împăratului, spunând: Iată, pe profetul Natan. Şi după ce el a intrat înaintea împăratului, s-a plecat înaintea împăratului cu faţa la pământ.
and they declare to the king, saying, “Behold, Nathan the prophet”; and he comes in before the king, and bows himself to the king, on his face to the earth.
24 Şi Natan a spus: DOMNUL meu, împărate, ai spus tu: Adonia va domni după mine şi va şedea pe tronul meu?
And Nathan says, “My lord, O king, you have said, Adonijah reigns after me, and he sits on my throne;
25 Pentru că a coborât în această zi şi a înjunghiat boi şi vite îngrăşate şi oi din abundenţă şi a chemat pe toţi fiii împăratului şi pe căpeteniile oştirii şi pe preotul Abiatar; şi, iată, ei mănâncă şi beau înaintea lui şi spun: Trăiască împăratul Adonia.
for he has gone down today, and sacrifices ox, and fatling, and sheep, in abundance, and calls for all the sons of the king, and for the heads of the host, and for Abiathar the priest, and behold, they are eating and drinking before him, and they say, Let King Adonijah live!
26 Dar pe mine, pe mine servitorul tău, şi pe preotul Ţadoc şi pe Benaia, fiul lui Iehoiada, şi pe servitorul tău, Solomon, nu ne-a chemat.
But he has not called for me, your servant, and for Zadok the priest, and for Benaiah, son of Jehoiada, and for your servant Solomon;
27 Este acest lucru făcut de la domnul meu, împăratul, şi tu nu ai arătat aceasta servitorului tău, cine va şedea pe tronul domnului meu, împăratul, după el?
if this thing has been from my lord the king, then you have not caused your servant to know who sits on the throne of my lord the king after him.”
28 Atunci împăratul David a răspuns şi a zis: Chemaţi-mi pe Bat-Şeba. Şi ea a intrat în prezenţa împăratului şi a stat în picioare înaintea împăratului.
And King David answers and says, “Call for Bathsheba for me”; and she comes in before the king, and stands before the king.
29 Şi împăratul a jurat şi a spus: Precum DOMNUL trăieşte, care a răscumpărat sufletul meu din orice strâmtorare,
And the king swears and says, “YHWH lives, who has redeemed my soul out of all adversity;
30 Chiar precum ţi-am jurat pe DOMNUL Dumnezeul lui Israel, spunând: Negreşit fiul tău, Solomon, va domni după mine şi el va şedea pe tronul meu în locul meu; chiar astfel voi face într-adevăr în această zi.
surely as I swore to you by YHWH, God of Israel, saying, Surely your son Solomon reigns after me, and he sits on my throne in my stead; surely so I do this day.”
31 Atunci Bat-Şeba s-a plecat cu faţa până la pământ şi a îngenuncheat înaintea împăratului şi a spus: Să trăiască domnul meu, împăratul David, pentru totdeauna.
And Bathsheba bows—face to the earth—and pays respect to the king, and says, “Let my lord, King David, live for all time.”
32 Şi împăratul David a spus: Chemaţi-mi pe preotul Ţadoc şi pe profetul Natan şi pe Benaia, fiul lui Iehoiada. Şi ei au venit înaintea împăratului.
And King David says, “Call for Zadok the priest, and for Nathan the prophet, and for Benaiah son of Jehoiada for me”; and they come in before the king.
33 Împăratul de asemenea le-a spus: Luaţi cu voi pe servitorii domnului vostru şi puneţi pe Solomon, fiul meu, să călărească pe catârul meu şi coborâţi-l la Ghihon;
And the king says to them, “Take the servants of your lord with you, and you have caused my son Solomon to ride on my own mule, and caused him to go down to Gihon,
34 Şi preotul Ţadoc şi profetul Natan să îl ungă acolo împărat peste Israel; şi sunaţi din trâmbiţă şi spuneţi: Trăiască împăratul Solomon.
and Zadok the priest has anointed him there—and Nathan the prophet—for king over Israel, and you have blown with a horn and said, Let King Solomon live;
35 Atunci să vă urcaţi după el, ca el să vină şi să şadă pe tronul meu, pentru că el va fi împărat în locul meu; şi eu l-am rânduit să fie conducător peste Israel şi peste Iuda.
and you have come up after him, and he has come in and has sat on my throne, and he reigns in my stead, and I have appointed him to be leader over Israel, and over Judah.”
36 Şi Benaia, fiul lui Iehoiada, a răspuns împăratului şi a zis: Amin; aşa să spună şi DOMNUL Dumnezeul domnului meu, împăratul.
And Benaiah son of Jehoiada answers the king and says, “Amen! So does YHWH, God of my lord the king, say;
37 Precum DOMNUL a fost cu domnul meu, împăratul, chiar astfel să fie cu Solomon şi să facă tronul lui mai mare decât tronul domnului meu, împăratul David.
as YHWH has been with my lord the king, so is He with Solomon, and makes his throne greater than the throne of my lord King David.”
38 Astfel preotul Ţadoc şi profetul Natan şi Benaia, fiul lui Iehoiada, şi cheretiţii şi peletiţii au coborât şi l-au făcut pe Solomon să călărească pe catârul împăratului David şi l-au adus la Ghihon.
And Zadok the priest goes down, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethite, and the Pelethite, and they cause Solomon to ride on the mule of King David, and cause him to go to Gihon,
39 Şi preotul Ţadoc a luat un corn cu untdelemn din tabernacol şi l-a uns pe Solomon. Şi au sunat din trâmbiţă; şi tot poporul a spus: Trăiască împăratul Solomon.
and Zadok the priest takes the horn of oil out of the tent, and anoints Solomon, and they blow with a horn, and all the people say, “Let King Solomon live.”
40 Şi tot poporul a urcat după el şi poporul cânta din fluiere şi se bucura cu mare bucurie, încât pământul se zguduia de sunetul lor.
And all the people come up after him, and the people are piping with pipes, and rejoicing [with] great joy, and the earth splits with their voice.
41 Şi Adonia şi toţi oaspeţii care erau cu el au auzit aceasta pe când terminau de mâncat. Şi când Ioab a auzit sunetul trâmbiţei, a spus: Pentru ce este acest zgomot al cetăţii ca fiind în tulburare?
And Adonijah hears, and all those called who [are] with him, and they have finished to eat, and Joab hears the noise of the horn and says, “Why [is] the noise of the city roaring?”
42 Şi pe când el încă vorbea, iată, a venit Ionatan, fiul preotului Abiatar; şi Adonia i-a spus: Intră, pentru că tu eşti un bărbat viteaz şi aduci veşti bune.
He is yet speaking, and behold, Jonathan son of Abiathar the priest has come in, and Adonijah says, “Come in, for you [are] a man of valor, and you bear good tidings.”
43 Şi Ionatan a răspuns şi i-a zis lui Adonia: Într-adevăr, domnul nostru, împăratul David, l-a făcut pe Solomon împărat.
And Jonathan answers and says to Adonijah, “Truly our lord King David has caused Solomon to reign,
44 Şi împăratul a trimis cu el pe preotul Ţadoc şi pe profetul Natan şi pe Benaia, fiul lui Iehoiada, şi pe cheretiţi şi pe peletiţi şi l-au făcut să călărească pe catârul împăratului;
and the king sends with him Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethite, and the Pelethite, and they cause him to ride on the king’s mule,
45 Şi preotul Ţadoc şi profetul Natan l-au uns împărat în Ghihon; şi s-au urcat de acolo bucurându-se, astfel încât cetatea a răsunat din nou. Acesta este zgomotul pe care voi l-aţi auzit.
and they anoint him—Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet—for king in Gihon, and have come up there rejoicing, and the city is moved; it [is] the noise that you have heard.
46 Şi de asemenea Solomon şade pe tronul împărăţiei.
And also Solomon has sat on the throne of the kingdom,
47 Şi mai mult, servitorii împăratului au venit să îl binecuvânteze pe domnul nostru, împăratul David, spunând: Dumnezeu să facă numele lui Solomon mai bun decât numele tău şi să facă tronul lui mai mare decât tronul tău. Şi împăratul s-a aplecat pe pat.
and also the servants of the king have come into bless our lord King David, saying, Your God makes the name of Solomon better than your name, and his throne greater than your throne; and the king bows himself on the bed,
48 Şi de asemenea astfel a spus împăratul: Binecuvântat fie DOMNUL Dumnezeul lui Israel, care a dat pe unul să şadă pe tronul meu în această zi, şi ochii mei văd aceasta.
and also thus the king has said, Blessed [is] YHWH, God of Israel, who has given [one] sitting on my throne today, and my eyes are seeing.”
49 Şi toţi oaspeţii care erau cu Adonia s-au înspăimântat şi s-au ridicat şi au mers fiecare pe calea sa.
And they tremble, and rise—all those called who [are] for Adonijah—and go, each on his way;
50 Şi Adonia s-a temut din cauza lui Solomon şi s-a ridicat şi a mers şi s-a apucat de coarnele altarului.
and Adonijah fears because of Solomon, and rises, and goes, and lays hold on the horns of the altar.
51 Şi i s-a spus lui Solomon, zicând: Iată, Adonia se teme de împăratul Solomon; fiindcă, iată, s-a apucat de coarnele altarului, spunând: Să îmi jure împăratul Solomon astăzi că nu va omorî pe servitorul său cu sabia.
And it is declared to Solomon, saying, “Behold, Adonijah fears King Solomon, and behold, he has laid hold on the horns of the altar, saying, Let King Solomon swear to me as today—he does not put his servant to death by the sword.”
52 Şi Solomon a spus: Dacă se va arăta bărbat demn, nu va cădea un fir de păr de-al lui la pământ; dar dacă se va găsi în el stricăciune, va muri.
And Solomon says, “If he becomes a virtuous man—there does not fall [even one] hair of his to the earth, and if evil is found in him—then he has died.”
53 Astfel împăratul Solomon a trimis, şi ei l-au coborât de la altar. Şi el a venit şi s-a aplecat înaintea împăratului Solomon; şi Solomon i-a spus: Du-te acasă!
And King Solomon sends, and they bring him down from off the altar, and he comes in and bows himself to King Solomon, and Solomon says to him, “Go to your house.”
