1 Corinteni 13

1 Chiar dacă aș vorbi în limbile oamenilor și ale îngerilor, dar nu am dragoste creștină, devin ca o aramă sunătoare sau un chimval răsunător.

If I could speak in every tongue of men, and in that of angels, and there should be no love in me, I should be like brass that resoundeth, or the cymbal that maketh a noise.

2 Și chiar dacă aș avea dar de profeție și înțeleg toate misterele și toată cunoașterea, și chiar dacă aș avea toată credința încât să mut munții, dar nu am dragoste creștină, nu sunt nimic.

And if there should be in me the gift of prophecy, and I should understand all the mysteries, and every science; and if there should be in me all faith, so that I could move mountains, and love should not be in me, I should be nothing.

3 Și chiar dacă aș împărți toate averile mele să hrănesc săracii, și chiar dacă mi-aș da trupul să fie ars, dar nu aș avea dragoste creștină, nu mi-ar folosi la nimic.

And if I should feed out to the destitute all I possess; and if I should give my body to be burned; and there should be no love in me, I gain nothing.

4 Dragostea creștină este îndelung-răbdătoare și plină de bunătate; dragostea creștină nu invidiază; dragostea creștină nu se laudă, nu se îngâmfă,

Love is long-suffering, and is kind; love is not envious; love is not boisterous; and is not inflated;

5 Nu se poartă necuviincios, nu caută ale sale, nu se mânie repede, nu gândește să facă rău,

and doth nothing that causeth shame; and seeketh not her own; is not passionate; and thinketh no evil;

6 Nu se bucură de nelegiuire, ci se bucură de adevăr,

rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;

7 Suportă toate, crede toate, speră toate, îndură toate.

beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all, and endureth all.

8 Dragostea creștină nu se sfârșește niciodată. Dar profeții dacă ar fi, se vor sfârși; limbi dacă ar fi, vor înceta; cunoaștere dacă ar fi, se va duce.

Love will never cease. But prophesyings will end; and tongues will be silent; and knowledge will vanish.

9 Căci cunoaștem în parte și profețim în parte;

For we know but partially; and we prophesy but partially.

10 Dar când vine ce este desăvârșit, atunci ce este în parte va fi desființat.

But when completeness shall come, then that which is partial will vanish away.

11 Când eram copil, vorbeam ca un copil, înțelegeam ca un copil, gândeam ca un copil; dar după ce am devenit bărbat, am înlăturat cele copilărești.

When I was a child, I talked as a child, and I reasoned as a child, and I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I laid aside the things of childhood.

12 Căci acum vedem întunecat, ca într-o oglindă; dar atunci față în față; acum știu în parte, dar atunci voi cunoaște așa cum sunt și eu cunoscut.

And now we see, as by a mirror, in similitude; but then face to face: now I know partially; but then shall I know, just as I am known.

13 Și acum rămân acestea trei: credință, speranță, dragoste creștină; dar cea mai mare dintre acestea este dragostea creștină.

For these three things are abiding, faith, and hope, and love; but the greatest of these is love.
