1 Fiii lui Iuda: Pereț, Hețron și Carmi și Hur și Șobal.

The sons of Judah: Perez, Hezron, Carmi, Hur, and Shobal.

2 Și Reaia, fiul lui Șobal, a născut pe Iahat; și Iahat a născut pe Ahumai și pe Lahad. Acestea sunt familiile țoratiților.

Reaiah, son of Shobal, was the father of Jahath. Jahath was the father of Ahumai and Lahad. These were the families of the Zorathites.

3 Și aceștia au fost din tatăl lui Etam: Izreel și Ișma și Idbaș; și numele surorii lor era Hațelelponi;

These were the sons of Etam: Jezreel, Ishma, and Idbash. Their sister was called Hazzelelponi.

4 Și Penuel tatăl lui Ghedor și Ezer tatăl lui Hușa. Aceștia sunt fiii lui Hur, întâiul născut al lui Efrata, tatăl lui Betleem.

Penuel was the father of Gedor, and Ezer was the father of Hushah. These were the descendants of Hur, Ephrathah's firstborn and father of Bethlehem.

5 Și Așhur tatăl lui Tecoa a avut două soții, Helea și Naara.

Ashhur was the father of Tekoa and had two wives, Helah and Naarah.

6 Și Naara i-a născut pe Ahuzam și pe Hefer și pe Temeni și pe Ahaștari. Aceștia au fost fiii lui Naara.

Naarah was the mother of Ahuzzam, Hepher, Temeni, and Haahashtari. These were the sons of Naarah.

7 Și fiii Heleei au fost: Țeret și Țohar și Etnan.

The sons of Helah: Zereth, Zohar, Ethnan,

8 Și Coț a născut pe Anub și pe Țobeba și familiile lui Aharhel, fiul lui Harum.

and Koz, who was the father of Anub and Hazzobebah and of the families of Aharhel, son of Harum.

9 Și Iaebeț a fost demn de mai multă cinste decât frații săi; și mama lui i-a pus numele Iaebeț, spunând: Pentru că l-am născut cu tristețe.

Jabez was more faithful to God than his brothers. His mother had given him the name Jabez, saying, “I gave birth to him in pain.”

10 Și Iaebeț a chemat pe Dumnezeul lui Israel, spunând: Dacă într-adevăr m-ai binecuvânta și mi-ai lărgi hotarul și mâna ta ar fi cu mine și dacă m-ai păzi de rău, ca să nu mă apese! Și Dumnezeu i-a dat ceea ce a cerut.

Jabez begged the God of Israel, “Please bless me and expand my borders! Be with me and keep me safe from harm so I won't have pain.” And God gave him what he asked for.

11 Și Chelub fratele lui Șuhah a născut pe Mechir, care a fost tatăl lui Eșton.

Kelub, Shuhah's brother, was the father of Mehir, who in turn was the father of Eshton.

12 Și Eșton a născut pe Bet-Rafa și pe Paseah și pe Techina tatăl cetății lui Nahaș. Aceștia sunt oamenii lui Reca.

Eshton was the father of Beth Rapha, Paseah, and Tehinnah, the father of Ir Nahash. These were the men of Recah.

13 Și fiii lui Chenaz: Otniel și Seraia; și fiii lui Otniel: Hatat.

The sons of Kenaz: Othniel and Seraiah. The sons of Othniel: Hathath and Meonothai.

14 Și Meonotai a născut pe Ofra; și Seraia a născut pe Ioab, tatăl celor din valea Meșteșugarilor, căci erau meșteșugari.

Meonothai was the father of Ophrah. Seraiah was the father of Joab, the father of Ge Harashim, so called because craftsmen lived there.

15 Și fiii lui Caleb, fiul lui Iefune: Iru, Ela și Naam; și fiii lui Ela, chiar Chenaz.

The sons of Caleb son of Jephunneh: Iru, Elah, and Naam. The son of Elah: Kenaz.

16 Și fiii lui Iehaleleel: Zif și Zifa, Tiria și Asareel.

The sons of Jehallelel: Ziph, Ziphah, Tiria, and Asarel.

17 Și fiii lui Ezra au fost: Ieter și Mered și Efer și Ialon; și ea a născut pe Miriam și pe Șamai și pe Ișbah, tatăl lui Eștemoa.

The sons of Ezrah: Jether, Mered, Epher, and Jalon. One wife of Mered was the mother of Miriam, Shammai and Ishbah the father of Eshtemoa.

18 Și Iehudia, soția lui, a născut pe Iered, tatăl lui Ghedor și pe Heber, tatăl lui Soco și Iechutiel, tatăl lui Zanoah. Și aceștia sunt fiii Bitiei, fiica lui Faraon, pe care Mered a luat-o.

(Another wife who came from Judah was the mother of Jered the father of Gedor, Heber the father of Soco, and Jekuthiel the father of Zanoah.) These were the sons of Bithiah, Pharaoh's daughter, whom Mered had married.

The sons of Hodiah's wife, Nathan's sister: one son was the father of Keilah the Garmite, and another the father of Eshtemoa the Maacathite.

The sons of Shimon: Amnon, Rinnah, Ben-Hanan, and Tilon. The sons of Ishi: Zoheth and Ben-Zoheth.

21 Fiii lui Șela, fiul lui Iuda, au fost: Er tatăl lui Leca și Laeda tatăl lui Mareșa și familiile casei celor care au țesut in subțire, din casa lui Așbea,

The sons of Shelah son of Judah: Er, who was the father of Lecah, Laadah, who was the father of Mareshah, the families of the linen workers at Beth Ashbea,

The sons of Mishma: Hammuel his son, Zaccur his son, and Shimei his son.

27 Iar Șimei a avut șaisprezece fii și șase fiice; dar frații lui nu au avut mulți copii, și nici toată familia lor nu s-a înmulțit ca cei ai copiilor lui Iuda.

Shimei had sixteen sons and six daughters, but his brothers did not have many children; so their tribe was not as large as that of Judah.

28 Și au locuit la Beer-Șeba și Molada și Hațar-Șual,

They lived in Beersheba, Moladah, Hazar Shual,

29 Și la Bilha și la Ețem și la Tolad,

Bilhah, Ezem, Tolad,

30 Și la Betuel și la Horma și la Țiclag,

Bethuel, Hormah, Ziklag,

Beth Marcaboth, Hazar Susim, Beth Biri, and Shaaraim. These were their towns until David became king.

Elioenai, Jaakobah, Jeshohaiah, Asaiah, Adiel, Jesimiel, Benaiah,

37 Și Ziza, fiul lui Șifei, fiul lui Alon, fiul lui Iedaia, fiul lui Șimri, fiul lui Șemaia;

and Ziza, son of Shiphi, son of Allon, son of Jedaiah, son of Shimri, son of Shemaiah.

These were the names of the leaders of their families whose lineage increased significantly.

They went far as the border of Gedor on the east side of the valley to look for pasture for their flocks.

They found good pastureland there, and the area was open, quiet, and peaceful, for those who used to live there were Ham's descendants.

41 Și aceștia scriși pe nume au venit în zilele lui Ezechia, împăratul lui Iuda, și le-au lovit corturile și locuințele care s-au găsit acolo și le-au distrus în întregime până în această zi și au locuit în locul lor, deoarece era pajiște acolo pentru turmele lor.

In the time of Hezekiah, king of Judah, the leaders listed above by name came and attacked these descendants of Ham where they lived, along with the Meunites there and totally destroyed them, as is clear to this very day. Then they settled there, because there was pastureland for their flocks.

They destroyed the rest of the Amalekites who had escaped. They have lived there to this very day.
