1 Și filistenii s-au luptat cu Israel; și bărbații lui Israel au fugit din fața filistenilor și au căzut uciși în muntele Ghilboa.
Then the Philistims fought against Israel: and the men of Israel fled before the Philistims, and fell downe slaine in mount Gilboa.
2 Și filistenii i-au urmărit necontenit pe Saul și pe fiii săi; și filistenii au ucis pe Ionatan și pe Abinadab și pe Malchi-Șua, fiii lui Saul.
And the Philistims pursued after Saul and after his sonnes, and the Philistims smote Ionathan, and Abinadab, and Malchishua the sonnes of Saul.
3 Și bătălia s-a încins împotriva lui Saul și arcașii l-au lovit și a fost rănit de arcași.
And the battel was sore against Saul; and the archers hit him, and he was wounded of the archers.
4 Atunci Saul a spus purtătorului său de arme: Scoate-ți sabia și străpunge-mă cu ea, ca nu cumva acești necircumciși să vină și să își bată joc de mine. Dar purtătorul său de arme nu a voit, pentru că se temea foarte tare. De aceea Saul a luat o sabie și s-a aruncat în ea.
Then sayde Saul to his armour bearer, Drawe out thy sworde, and thrust me thorowe therewith, lest these vncircumcised come and mocke at me: but his armour bearer would not, for he was sore afraid: therefore Saul tooke the sword and fell vpon it.
5 Și când purtătorul său de arme a văzut că Saul era mort, a căzut și el în sabie și a murit.
And when his armour bearer saw that Saul was dead, he fell likewise vpon the sworde, and dyed.
6 Astfel Saul a murit și cei trei fii ai săi și toată casa lui a murit împreună.
So Saul dyed and his three sonnes, and all his house, they dyed together.
7 Și când toți bărbații lui Israel, care erau în vale, au văzut că frații lor au fugit și că Saul și fiii lui au murit, și-au părăsit cetățile și au fugit; și filistenii au venit și au locuit în ele.
And when all the men of Israel that were in the valley, sawe how they fledde, and that Saul and his sonnes were dead, they forsooke their cities, and fled away, and the Philistims came, and dwelt in them.
8 Și s-a întâmplat a doua zi, când filistenii au venit să dezbrace pe cei uciși, că au găsit pe Saul și pe fiii lui, căzuți în muntele Ghilboa.
And on the morrowe when the Philistims came to spoyle them that were slaine, they found Saul and his sonnes lying in mount Gilboa.
9 Și după ce l-au dezbrăcat, i-au luat capul și armura și le-au trimis de jur împrejur în țara filistenilor, ca să dea de știre idolilor lor și poporului.
And when they had stript him, they tooke his head and his armour, and sent them into the land of the Philistims round about, to publish it vnto their idoles, and to the people.
10 Și au pus armura lui în casa dumnezeilor lor și au pironit capul lui în templul lui Dagon.
And they layd vp his armour in the house of their god, and set vp his head in the house of Dagon.
11 Și când tot Iabes-Galaadul a auzit tot ce i-au făcut filistenii lui Saul,
When all they of Iabesh Gilead heard all that the Philistims had done to Saul,
12 S-au ridicat, toți bărbații viteji și au luat trupul lui Saul și trupurile fiilor lui și le-au adus la Iabes și le-au îngropat oasele sub stejarul din Iabes și au postit șapte zile.
Then they arose (all the valiant men) and tooke the body of Saul, and the bodies of his sonnes, and brought them to Iabesh, and buryed the bones of them vnder an oke in Iabesh, and fasted seuen dayes.
13 Astfel Saul a murit pentru fărădelegea lui pe care a făcut-o împotriva DOMNULUI, împotriva cuvântului DOMNULUI, pe care nu l-a ținut și de asemenea pentru că a întrebat pe una care avea demon, pentru a cere sfat de la el;
So Saul dyed for his transgression, that he committed against the Lord, euen against the word of the Lord, which he kept not, and in that he sought and asked counsel of a familiar spirit,
14 Și nu a cerut sfat de la DOMNUL; de aceea l-a ucis și a întors împărăția la David, fiul lui Isai.
And asked not of the Lord: therefore he slewe him, and turned the kingdome vnto Dauid the sonne of Ishai.
