Cantares de Salomâo 3
1 À noite, na minha cama, Procurei aquele a quem minha alma ama. Eu o procurei, mas não o encontrei.
[SHE] Upon my couch, in the night-time, sought I the beloved of my soul, —I sought him, but found him not.
2 Levantar-me-ei agora, e vou pela cidade; nas ruas e nas praças buscarei aquele a quem minha alma ama. Eu o procurei, mas não o encontrei.
Come! I must arise, and go about in the city, In the paths and in the broadways, I must seek the beloved of my soul, —I sought him, but found him not.
3 Os guardas que vão pela cidade me encontraram; “Você já viu aquele a quem minha alma ama?”
The watchmen that go round in the city, found me, The beloved of my soul, have ye seen?
4 Eu mal tinha passado por eles, quando eu encontrei aquele a quem minha alma ama. Eu o abracei e não o deixei ir, até que eu o tivesse trazido para a casa de minha mãe, no quarto dela que me concebeu.
Scarcely had I passed from them, when I found the beloved of my soul, —I caught him, and would not let him go, until that I had brought him into the house of my mother, and into the chamber of her that conceived me.
5 Eu vos conjuro, filhas de Jerusalém, pelas ovas, ou pelo vento do campo, que você não agita nem desperta o amor, até que o deseje.
[HE] I adjure you ye, daughters of Jerusalem, by the gazelles, or by the hinds of the field, —That ye wake not, nor arouse, the dear love until she please.
6 Quem é este que vem do deserto como pilares da fumaça, perfumado com mirra e incenso, com todas as especiarias do comerciante?
[THEY] Who is this, coming up out of the wilderness, like pillars of smoke, —with perfume of myrrh, and frankincense, besides all the aromatic powder of the merchant?
7 Veja, é a carruagem de Salomão! Sessenta homens poderosos estão ao seu redor, dos homens poderosos de Israel.
Lo! his couch,’tis Solomon’s own, Threescore heroes, around it, —of the heroes of Israel:
8 Todos eles manejam a espada, e são especialistas em guerra. Cada homem tem sua espada na coxa, por causa do medo na noite.
All of them, grasping the sword, trained for war, —every man, with his sword upon his thigh, because of dread, in the night-time.
9 O Rei Salomão fez para si mesmo uma carruagem da madeira do Líbano.
A palanquin, King Solomon made himself, of the trees of Lebanon:
10 Ele fez seus pilares de prata, seu fundo de ouro, sua sede de púrpura, no meio dele sendo pavimentado com amor, das filhas de Jerusalém.
The supports thereof, made he of silver, the couch thereof, of gold, the seat thereof, of purple, —the midst thereof, hath an inlay of love from the daughters of Jerusalem.
11 Saiam, suas filhas de Sião, e vejam o rei Salomão, com a coroa com a qual sua mãe o coroou, no dia de seus casamentos, no dia da alegria de seu coração.
Go forth and gaze, ye daughters of Zion, upon King Solomon, —wearing the crown, wherewith his mother, crowned him, in the day of his marriage, and in the day of his heart gladness.
