1 Um Canto de Ascensões. Na minha angústia, chorei a Javé. Ele me respondeu.

A song of ascents. In my distress I called out to Yahweh, and he answered me.

2 Entregar minha alma, Yahweh, de lábios mentirosos, de uma língua enganosa.

Rescue my life, Yahweh, from those who lie with their lips and deceive with their tongues.

3 O que será dado a você e o que será feito mais a você, sua língua enganosa?

How will he punish you, and what more will he do to you, you who have a lying tongue?

4 Setas afiadas dos poderosos, com brasas de zimbro.

He will punish you with the arrows of a warrior sharpened over burning coals of the broom tree.

5 Ai de mim, que vivo em Meshech, que eu moro entre as barracas de Kedar!

Woe is me because I temporarily live in Meshech; I lived previously among the tents of Kedar.

6 Minha alma já tem sua morada há muito tempo com aquele que odeia a paz.

For too long I have lived with those who hate peace.

7 Eu sou pela paz, mas quando eu falo, eles são a favor da guerra.

I am for peace, but when I speak, they are for war.
