Provérbios 7
1 Meu filho, guarde minhas palavras. Coloquem meus mandamentos dentro de vocês.
My son, keep my words, and lay up my commandments with thee.
2 Guarde meus mandamentos e viva! Guarde meus ensinamentos como a maçã de seu olho.
Keep my commandments and live, and my teaching as the apple of thine eye.
3 Prenda-os em seus dedos. Escreva-as na tábua do seu coração.
Bind them upon thy fingers, write them upon the table of thy heart.
4 Diga à sabedoria: “Você é minha irmã”. Chame a compreensão de seu parente,
Say unto wisdom: 'Thou art my sister', and call understanding thy kinswoman;
5 that eles podem mantê-lo afastado da mulher estranha, do estrangeiro que lisonjeia com suas palavras.
That they may keep thee from the strange woman, from the alien woman that maketh smooth her words.
6 Pois na janela da minha casa, Eu olhei através da minha grade.
For at the window of my house I looked forth through my lattice;
7 eu vi entre os simples. Percebi entre os jovens um jovem sem compreensão,
And I beheld among the thoughtless ones, I discerned among the youths, a young man void of understanding,
8 passando pela rua perto de sua esquina, ele foi até a casa dela,
Passing through the street near her corner, and he went the way to her house;
9 no crepúsculo, na noite do dia, no meio da noite e na escuridão.
In the twilight, in the evening of the day, in the blackness of night and the darkness.
10 Eis que uma mulher o encontrou com o traje de uma prostituta, e com intenção astuta.
And, behold, there met him a woman with the attire of a harlot, and wily of heart.
11 Ela é barulhenta e desafiadora. Seus pés não ficam em sua casa.
She is riotous and rebellious, her feet abide not in her house;
12 Agora ela está nas ruas, agora nas praças, e à espreita em cada esquina.
Now she is in the streets, now in the broad places, and lieth in wait at every corner.
13 Então ela o pegou, e o beijou. Com um rosto impudente, ela lhe disse:
So she caught him, and kissed him, and with an impudent face she said unto him:
14 “Sacrifícios de ofertas de paz estão comigo. Hoje eu já paguei meus votos.
'Sacrifices of peace-offerings were due from me; this day have I paid my vows.
15 Por isso, vim ao seu encontro, para procurar diligentemente seu rosto, e eu o encontrei.
Therefore came I forth to meet thee, to seek thy face, and I have found thee.
16 Eu espalhei meu sofá com tapetes de tapeçaria, com panos listrados dos fios do Egito.
I have decked my couch with coverlets, with striped cloths of the yarn of Egypt.
17 I perfumaram minha cama com mirra, aloés e canela.
I have perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon.
18 Come, vamos levar nosso recheio de amor até a manhã seguinte. Vamos nos consolar com amor.
Come, let us take our fill of love until the morning; let us solace ourselves with loves.
19 Pois meu marido não está em casa. Ele fez uma longa jornada.
For my husband is not at home, he is gone a long journey;
20 Ele levou um saco de dinheiro com ele. Ele voltará para casa na lua cheia”.
He hath taken the bag of money with him; he will come home at the full moon.'
21 Com palavras persuasivas, ela o desviou. Com a lisonja de seus lábios, ela o seduziu.
With her much fair speech she causeth him to yield, with the blandishment of her lips she enticeth him away.
22 Ele a seguiu imediatamente, quando um boi vai para o abate, como um tolo pisando em um laço.
He goeth after her straightway, as an ox that goeth to the slaughter, or as one in fetters to the correction of the fool;
23 Até que uma flecha atinja seu fígado, como um pássaro se apressa para a armadilha, e não sabe que isso lhe custará a vida.
Till an arrow strike through his liver; as a bird hasteneth to the snare — and knoweth not that it is at the cost of his life.
24 Agora, portanto, filhos, escutem-me. Preste atenção às palavras da minha boca.
Now therefore, O ye children, hearken unto me, and attend to the words of my mouth.
25 Não deixe que seu coração se volte para os caminhos dela. Não se desvie em seus caminhos,
Let not thy heart decline to her ways, go not astray in her paths.
26 pois ela já derrubou muitos feridos. Sim, todos os seus mortos são um poderoso exército.
For she hath cast down many wounded; yea, a mighty host are all her slain.
