Provérbios 24
1 Não tenha inveja dos homens maus, nem desejo de estar com eles;
Be not thou envious of wicked men, And desire not to be with them!
2 para seus corações conspiram violência e seus lábios falam de travessuras.
For their heart studieth destruction, And their lips speak mischief.
3 Through sabedoria uma casa é construída; por entender que está estabelecido;
Through wisdom is a house builded, And by understanding is it established;
4 por conhecimento as salas são preenchidas com todos os raros e belos tesouros.
Yea, by knowledge are the chambers filled With all precious and goodly substance.
5 Um homem sábio tem um grande poder. Um homem conhecedor aumenta a força,
The wise man is strong; Yea, the man of understanding establisheth his strength.
6 para que, por sábia orientação, você empreenda sua guerra, e a vitória está em muitos conselheiros.
For by wise counsel shalt thou make war, And by the multitude of counsellors cometh success.
7 A sabedoria é alta demais para um tolo. Ele não abre a boca no portão.
Wisdom is too high for the fool; He openeth not his mouth at the gate.
8 One que conspira para fazer o mal será chamado de esquema.
He that deviseth to do evil Shall be called mischief-master.
9 Os esquemas de insensatez são pecado. O zombador é detestado pelos homens.
The purpose of folly is sin; And a scoffer is an abomination to men.
10 If você vacila no momento de problemas, sua força é pequena.
If thy spirit faint in the day of adversity, Faint will be thy strength.
11 Resgatar aqueles que estão sendo levados à morte! De fato, retenha aqueles que estão cambaleando para o abate!
Deliver thou those who are dragged to death, And those who totter to the slaughter, —O keep them back!
12 Se você disser: “Veja, nós não sabíamos disso”. aquele que pesa os corações não o considera? Aquele que guarda sua alma, não sabe disso? Será que ele não deve render a cada homem de acordo com seu trabalho?
If thou sayst, “Behold, we knew it not!” Doth not he that weigheth the heart observe it? Yea, he that keepeth thy soul knoweth it. And he will render to every man according to his works.
13 Meu filho, coma mel, pois é bom, os excrementos do favo de mel, que são doces ao seu gosto;
Eat honey, my son, for it is good, And the honeycomb, which is sweet to thy taste;
14 para que você conheça a sabedoria de ser para sua alma. Se você a encontrou, então haverá uma recompensa: Sua esperança não será cortada.
So learn thou wisdom for thy soul! When thou hast found it, there shall be a reward, And thy expectation shall not be cut off.
15 Não espere, homem perverso, contra a habitação dos justos. Não destrua seu lugar de descanso;
Plot not, O wicked man! against the habitation of the righteous; Spoil not his resting-place!
16 para um homem justo cai sete vezes e sobe novamente, mas os ímpios são derrubados pela calamidade.
For though the righteous fall seven times, yet shall he rise up again; But the wicked shall fall into mischief.
17 Não se regozije quando seu inimigo cair. Não deixe que seu coração fique contente quando ele for derrubado,
Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, And let not thy heart be glad when he stumbleth;
18 para que Yahweh não o veja, e isso o desagrade, e ele afasta dele a sua ira.
Lest the LORD see, and it displease him, And he turn away his anger from him.
19 Não se preocupe por causa dos malfeitores, nem ter inveja dos ímpios;
Fret not thyself on account of evil men, Neither be thou envious of the wicked;
20 pois não haverá recompensa para o homem mau. A lâmpada dos ímpios será apagada.
For there shall be no posterity to the evil man; The lamp of the wicked shall be put out.
21 Meu filho, teme Yahweh e o rei. Não se junte àqueles que são rebeldes,
My son, fear thou the LORD and the king; And mingle not with them that are given to change!
22 por sua calamidade se levantará de repente. Quem sabe que destruição pode vir de ambos?
For their calamity shall rise up suddenly, And their ruin, coming from them both, in a moment.
23 Estes também são dizeres dos sábios: Mostrar parcialidade no julgamento não é bom.
These also are words of the wise. It is not good to have respect of persons in judgment.
24 Aquele que diz aos ímpios: “Vocês são justos”. os povos vão amaldiçoá-lo, e as nações vão abominá-lo...
He that saith to the wicked, “Thou art righteous,” Him shall the people curse; Nations shall abhor him.
25 mas irá bem com aqueles que condenam os culpados, e uma rica bênção virá sobre eles.
But it shall be well with them that punish him, And the blessing of prosperity shall come upon them.
26 Uma resposta honesta é como um beijo nos lábios.
He that giveth a right answer Kisseth the lips.
27 Prepare seu trabalho lá fora, e prepare seus campos. Em seguida, construa sua casa.
Arrange thy work without, And prepare it in thy field: Afterwards thou mayst build thy house.
28 Não seja uma testemunha contra seu vizinho sem causa. Não engane com seus lábios.
Be not a witness without cause against thy neighbor, And deceive not with thy lips.
29 Não diga: “Eu vou fazer com ele como ele fez comigo”; Eu reembolsarei o homem de acordo com seu trabalho”.
Say not, “As he hath done to me, So will I do to him; I will render to the man according to his doings.”
30 Eu passei pelo campo do preguiçoso, pelo vinhedo do homem sem entendimento.
I passed by the field of the slothful, And by the vineyard of the man void of understanding,
31 Eis que tudo cresceu com espinhos. Sua superfície estava coberta de urtigas, e sua parede de pedra foi derrubada.
And, lo! it was all overgrown with thorns, And the face thereof was covered with nettles, And the stone wall thereof was broken down.
32 Então eu vi, e considerei bem. Eu vi, e recebi instruções:
Then I saw, and considered it well; I looked upon it. and received instruction.
33 um pouco de sono, um pouco de sonolência, um pouco de dobra das mãos para dormir,
“A little sleep, a little slumber! A little folding of the hands to rest!”
34 para que sua pobreza venha como um ladrão e sua vontade de ser um homem armado.
So shall poverty come upon thee like a highwayman; Yea, want like an armed man.
