Provérbios 18
1 Um homem que se isola persegue o egoísmo, e desafia todo julgamento sadio.
For the desire thereof hee will separate himselfe to seeke it, and occupie himselfe in all wisdome.
2 Um tolo não tem prazer em entender, mas somente ao revelar sua própria opinião.
A foole hath no delite in vnderstanding: but that his heart may be discouered.
3 Quando a maldade vem, o desprezo também vem, e com vergonha vem a desgraça.
When the wicked commeth, then commeth contempt, and with the vile man reproch.
4 As palavras da boca de um homem são como águas profundas. A fonte da sabedoria é como um riacho que flui.
The words of a mans mouth are like deepe waters, and the welspring of wisdome is like a flowing riuer.
5 Ser parcial para as faces dos ímpios não é bom, nem para privar os inocentes da justiça.
It is not good to accept the person of the wicked, to cause ye righteous to fall in iudgement.
6 Os lábios de um tolo entram em contenda, e sua boca convida a espancamentos.
A fooles lips come with strife, and his mouth calleth for stripes.
7 A boca de um tolo é sua destruição, e seus lábios são um laço para sua alma.
A fooles mouth is his owne destruction, and his lips are a snare for his soule.
8 As palavras de um fofoqueiro são como bocadinhos de pano: eles descem para as partes mais íntimas de uma pessoa.
The wordes of a tale bearer are as flatterings, and they goe downe into the bowels of the belly.
9 Aquele que é frouxo em seu trabalho é irmão daquele que é um mestre da destruição.
He also that is slouthfull in his worke, is euen the brother of him that is a great waster.
10 O nome de Yahweh é uma torre forte: os justos correm para ele, e estão seguros.
The Name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous runneth vnto it, and is exalted.
11 A riqueza do homem rico é sua cidade forte, como uma muralha inescalável em sua própria imaginação.
The rich mans riches are his strong citie: and as an hie wall in his imagination.
12 Antes da destruição, o coração do homem está orgulhoso, mas diante da honra está a humildade.
Before destruction the heart of a man is hautie, and before glory goeth lowlines.
13 Aquele que responde antes de ouvir, isso é loucura e vergonha para ele.
He that answereth a matter before hee heare it, it is folly and shame vnto him.
14 O espírito de um homem o sustentará na enfermidade, mas um espírito esmagado, quem pode suportar?
The spirit of a man will susteine his infirmitie: but a wounded spirit who can beare it?
15 O coração do discernimento adquire conhecimento. O ouvido do sábio procura o conhecimento.
A wise heart getteth knowledge, and the eare of the wise seeketh learning.
16 O presente de um homem abre espaço para ele, e o traz diante de grandes homens.
A mans gift enlargeth him, and leadeth him before great men.
17 Aquele que pleiteia sua causa primeiro parece certo até que outro venha e o interrogue.
He that is first in his owne cause, is iust: then commeth his neighbour, and maketh inquirie of him.
18 O lote resolve disputas, e mantém os fortes separados.
The lot causeth contentions to cease, and maketh a partition among the mightie.
19 Um irmão ofendido é mais difícil do que uma cidade fortificada. As disputas são como as barras de uma fortaleza.
A brother offended is harder to winne then a strong citie, and their contentions are like the barre of a palace.
20 O estômago de um homem é preenchido com o fruto de sua boca. Com a colheita de seus lábios, ele está satisfeito.
With the fruite of a mans mouth shall his belly be satisfied, and with the increase of his lips shall he be filled.
21 A morte e a vida estão no poder da língua; aqueles que a amam comerão seus frutos.
Death and life are in the power of ye tongue, and they that loue it, shall eate the fruite thereof.
22 Whoever encontra uma esposa encontra uma coisa boa, e obtém o favor de Yahweh.
He that findeth a wife, findeth a good thing, and receiueth fauour of the Lord.
23 Os pobres imploram por misericórdia, mas a rica resposta é dura.
The poore speaketh with prayers: but the rich answereth roughly.
24 Um homem de muitos companheiros pode estar arruinado, mas há um amigo que se aproxima mais do que um irmão.
A man that hath friends, ought to shew him selfe friendly: for a friend is neerer then a brother.
