Provérbios 13
1 Um filho sábio ouve as instruções de seu pai, mas um zombador não dá ouvidos a repreensões.
A wise son [heareth] his father’s instruction: but a scorner heareth not rebuke.
2 Pelo fruto de seus lábios, um homem desfruta de coisas boas, mas os infiéis anseiam pela violência.
A man shall eat good by the fruit of [his] mouth: but the soul of the transgressors [shall eat] violence.
3 Aquele que guarda sua boca guarda sua alma. Aquele que abre bem os lábios vem à ruína.
He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: [but] he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction.
4 A alma do preguiçoso deseja, e não tem nada, mas o desejo dos diligentes deve ser plenamente satisfeito.
The soul of the sluggard desireth, and [hath] nothing: but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat.
5 Um homem justo odeia mentiras, mas um homem perverso traz vergonha e desgraça.
A righteous [man] hateth lying: but a wicked [man] is loathsome, and cometh to shame.
6 A justiça guarda o caminho da integridade, mas a maldade derruba o pecador.
Righteousness keepeth [him that is] upright in the way: but wickedness overthroweth the sinner.
7 Há alguns que fingem ser ricos, mas não têm nada. Há alguns que fingem ser pobres, mas têm uma grande riqueza.
There is that maketh himself rich, yet [hath] nothing: [there is] that maketh himself poor, yet [hath] great riches.
8 O resgate da vida de um homem é sua riqueza, mas os pobres não ouvem ameaças.
The ransom of a man’s life [are] his riches: but the poor heareth not rebuke.
9 A luz dos justos brilha intensamente, mas a lâmpada dos malvados é apagada.
The light of the righteous rejoiceth: but the lamp of the wicked shall be put out.
10 O orgulho só gera brigas, mas a sabedoria está com as pessoas que aceitam conselhos.
Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised [is] wisdom.
11 A riqueza ganha desonestamente diminui, mas aquele que se reúne à mão faz crescer.
Wealth [gotten] by vanity shall be diminished: but he that gathereth by labour shall increase.
12 O adiamento da esperança faz o coração adoecer, mas quando a saudade é satisfeita, é uma árvore da vida.
Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but [when] the desire cometh, [it is] a tree of life.
13 Whoever despreza a instrução pagará por ela, mas aquele que respeita um comando será recompensado.
Whoso despiseth the word shall be destroyed: but he that feareth the commandment shall be rewarded.
14 O ensinamento dos sábios é uma fonte de vida, para se livrar das armadilhas da morte.
The law of the wise [is] a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.
15 O bom entendimento ganha o favor, mas o caminho dos infiéis é difícil.
Good understanding giveth favour: but the way of transgressors [is] hard.
16 Todo homem prudente age a partir do conhecimento, mas um tolo expõe a loucura.
Every prudent [man] dealeth with knowledge: but a fool layeth open [his] folly.
17 Um mensageiro malvado cai em apuros, mas um enviado de confiança ganha a cura.
A wicked messenger falleth into mischief: but a faithful ambassador [is] health.
18 A pobreza e a vergonha chegam até ele que recusa a disciplina, mas aquele que atenta à correção será homenageado.
Poverty and shame [shall be to] him that refuseth instruction: but he that regardeth reproof shall be honoured.
19 Longing cumprido é doce para a alma, mas os tolos detestam virar-se do mal.
The desire accomplished is sweet to the soul: but [it is] abomination to fools to depart from evil.
20 One quem caminha com sábios cresce sábio, mas um companheiro de tolos sofre danos.
He that walketh with wise [men] shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.
21 O infortúnio persegue os pecadores, mas a prosperidade recompensa os justos.
Evil pursueth sinners: but to the righteous good shall be repayed.
22 Um bom homem deixa uma herança para os filhos de seus filhos, mas a riqueza do pecador é armazenada para os justos.
A good [man] leaveth an inheritance to his children’s children: and the wealth of the sinner [is] laid up for the just.
23 Uma abundância de alimentos está nos campos das pessoas pobres, mas a injustiça a varre para longe.
Much food [is in] the tillage of the poor: but there is [that is] destroyed for want of judgment.
24 Aquele que poupa a vara odeia seu filho, mas aquele que o ama tem o cuidado de discipliná-lo.
He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes.
25 O justo come para a satisfação de sua alma, mas a barriga dos malvados passa fome.
The righteous eateth to the satisfying of his soul: but the belly of the wicked shall want.
