1 Ai da cidade sangrenta! Está tudo cheio de mentiras e roubos - sem fim para a presa.
Woe to the bloody city! It is all full of lies and rapine. The prey departs not.
2 O barulho do chicote, o barulho do chocalhar das rodas, os cavalos empinando, e as carruagens de cerco,
The noise of the whip, and the noise of the rattling of wheels, and prancing horses, and bounding chariots,
3 o cavaleiro carregando, e a espada cintilante, a lança cintilante, e uma multidão de mortos, e um grande monte de cadáveres, e não há fim para os corpos. Eles tropeçam em seus corpos
the horseman mounting, and the flashing sword, and the glittering spear, and a multitude of slain, and a great heap of corpses, and there is no end of the bodies. They stumble upon their bodies,

because of the multitude of the whoredoms of the well-favored harlot, the mistress of witchcrafts, who sells nations through her whoredoms, and families through her witchcrafts.

Behold, I am against thee, says Jehovah of hosts, and I will uncover thy skirts upon thy face, and I will show the nations thy nakedness, and the kingdoms thy shame.
6 Vou jogar sujeira abominável sobre vocês e torná-los infames, e farei de vocês um espetáculo”.
And I will cast abominable filth upon thee, and make thee vile, and will set thee as a gazing-stock.
7 Acontecerá que todos aqueles que olharem para você fugirão de você e dirão: 'Nínive é um desperdício! Quem chorará por ela?”. Onde procurarei consoladores para você”?
And it shall come to pass, that all those who look upon thee shall flee from thee, and say, Nineveh is laid waste. Who will bemoan her? From where shall I seek comforters for thee?
8 Você é melhor que No-Amon, que estava situada entre os rios, que tinha as águas ao seu redor, cuja muralha era o mar, e seu muro era do mar?
Are thou better than No-amon, that was situated among the rivers, that had the waters round about her, whose rampart was the sea, and her wall was of the sea?

Ethiopia and Egypt were her strength, and it was infinite. Put and Lubim were thy helpers.

Thou also shall be drunken. Thou shall be hid. Thou also shall seek a stronghold because of the enemy.
12 Todas as suas fortalezas serão como figueiras com os primeiros figos maduros. Se forem sacudidos, cairão na boca do comedor.
All thy fortresses shall be like fig trees with the first ripe figs. If they be shaken, they fall into the mouth of the eater.
13 Eis que suas tropas entre vocês são mulheres. Os portões de sua terra estão bem abertos para seus inimigos. O fogo devorou suas barras.
Behold, thy people in the midst of thee are women. The gates of thy land are set wide open to thine enemies. The fire has devoured thy bars.
14 Saca água para o cerco. Fortaleça suas fortalezas. Entre na argila, e pise a argamassa. Faça o forno de tijolos forte.
Draw thee water for the siege. Strengthen thy fortresses. Go into the clay, and tread the mortar. Make strong the brick kiln.
15 Aí o fogo o devorará. A espada o cortará. Ela te devorará como o gafanhoto. Multiplique como os gafanhotos. Multiplicar como o gafanhoto.
There the fire shall devour thee. The sword shall cut thee off. It shall devour thee like the canker-worm. Make thyself many as the canker-worm. Make thyself many as the locust.
16 Você aumentou mais seus comerciantes do que as estrelas dos céus. O gafanhoto tira e foge.
Thou have multiplied thy merchants above the stars of heaven. The canker-worm ravages, and flees away.
17 Seus guardas são como os gafanhotos, e seus oficiais como os enxames de gafanhotos, que se instalam nas paredes em um dia frio, mas quando o sol aparece, eles fogem, e seu lugar não é conhecido onde eles estão.
Thy rulers are as the locusts, and thy marshals as the swarms of grasshoppers, which encamp in the hedges in the cold day, but when the sun arises they flee away, and their place is not known where they are.
18 Seus pastores adormecem, rei da Assíria. Seus nobres deitam-se. Seu povo está espalhado pelas montanhas, e não há ninguém para reuni-los.
Thy shepherds slumber, O king of Assyria. Thy nobles are at rest. Thy people are scattered upon the mountains, and there is none to gather them.
19 Não há cura para sua ferida, pois sua lesão é fatal. Todos os que ouvem o seu relato batem palmas em você, pois quem não sentiu sua crueldade sem fim?
There is no assuaging of thy hurt. Thy wound is grievous. All who hear the report of thee clap their hands over thee, for upon whom has not thy wickedness passed continually?
