Mateus 11
1 Quando Jesus terminou de dirigir seus doze discípulos, ele partiu de lá para ensinar e pregar em suas cidades.
And it came to pass, when Jesus had made an end of his charge to his twelve disciples, that he departed thence, to teach and to preach in their cities.
2 Agora, quando João ouviu na prisão as obras de Cristo, enviou dois de seus discípulos
And John, having heard in the prison of the works of Christ, sent by his disciples,
3 e lhe disse: “Você é aquele que vem, ou devemos procurar outro”?
and said to him, Art thou he that is to come, or are we to look for another?
4 Jesus lhes respondeu: “Ide e dizei a João as coisas que ouvis e vedes”:
And Jesus answered and said to them, Go and tell John what ye hear and see.
5 os cegos recebem sua visão, os coxos andam, os leprosos são limpos, os surdos ouvem, os mortos ressuscitam e os pobres têm boas notícias pregadas a eles.
The blind receive sight and the lame walk, lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, and the dead are raised, and to the poor good tidings are brought;
6 Bem-aventurado aquele que não encontra ocasião para tropeçar em mim”.
and blessed is he, whoever shall find no occasion of stumbling in me.
7 Enquanto estes seguiam seu caminho, Jesus começou a dizer às multidões a respeito de João: “O que vocês saíram para o deserto para ver? Um caniço abalado pelo vento?
And, as these were going, Jesus began to say to the multitudes concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness to see? the reeds shaken by the wind?
8 Mas o que vocês saíram para ver? Um homem com roupas macias? Eis que aqueles que vestem roupas macias estão nas casas dos reis.
But why did ye go out? to see a man clothed in soft raiment? Lo! they that wear soft clothing are in kings' houses.
9 Mas por que você saiu? Para ver um profeta? Sim, eu lhe digo, e muito mais do que um profeta.
But why did ye go out? to see a prophet? Yea, I say to you, and more than a prophet.
10 Pois é ele, de quem está escrito: “Eis que eu envio meu mensageiro diante de vosso rosto, que vos preparará o caminho”.
For this is he of whom it is written: “Lo! I send my messenger before thy face, who shall prepare thy way before thee.”
11 Certamente vos digo, entre aqueles que nascem de mulheres não surgiu ninguém maior do que João Batista; no entanto, aquele que está menos no Reino dos Céus é maior do que ele.
Truly do I say to you, Among those born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist. But he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.
12 Desde os dias de João Batista até agora, o Reino dos Céus sofre violência, e os violentos o tomam pela força.
And from the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent seize upon it.
13 Para todos os profetas e a lei profetizou até João.
For all the Prophets and the Law, until John, prophesied.
14 Se você está disposto a recebê-lo, este é Elias, que está por vir.
And if ye are willing to receive it, he is the Elijah who was to come.
15 Aquele que tem ouvidos para ouvir, que ouça.
He that hath ears, let him hear.
16 “Mas a que devo comparar esta geração? É como as crianças sentadas nos mercados, que chamam seus companheiros
But to what shall I liken this generation? It is like children sitting in the markets, who call to their fellows,
17 e dizem: 'Tocamos flauta para você, e você não dançou'. Lamentamos por você, e você não lamentou'.
and say, We piped to you, and ye did not dance; we sung a dirge, and ye did not lament.
18 Pois John não veio comer nem beber, e dizem: 'Ele tem um demônio'.
For John came neither eating nor drinking; and they say, He hath a demon.
19 O Filho do Homem veio comer e beber, e eles dizem: 'Eis um homem glutão e um bêbado, amigo de cobradores de impostos e pecadores'! Mas a sabedoria é justificada por seus filhos”.
The Son of man came eating and drinking; and they say, Behold, a glutton and a wine-bibber, a friend of publicans and sinners! But wisdom is justified by her works.
20 Então ele começou a denunciar as cidades nas quais a maioria de suas obras poderosas havia sido feita, porque não se arrependiam.
Then he began to upbraid the cities wherein most of his miracles were done, because they did not repent.
21 “Ai de você, Chorazin! Ai de você, Bethsaida! Pois se as obras poderosas tivessem sido feitas em Tyre e Sidon que foram feitas em você, eles já se teriam arrependido há muito tempo em saco e cinzas.
Woe to thee, Chorazin! woe to thee, Bethsaida! for if the miracles that were done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.
22 Mas eu lhes digo que será mais tolerável para Tyre e Sidon no dia do julgamento do que para vocês.
But I say to you, It will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of judgment, than for you.
23 Você, Cafarnaum, que está exaltado ao céu, descerá ao Hades. Pois se em Sodoma tivessem sido feitas as obras poderosas que foram feitas em vocês, elas teriam permanecido até hoje. (Hadēs g86)
And thou, Capernaum! shalt thou be exalted to heaven? Thou shalt be brought down to the underworld; for if the miracles which were done in thee had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day. (Hadēs g86)
24 Mas eu vos digo que será mais tolerável para a terra de Sodoma no dia do julgamento, do que para vós”.
But I say to you, that it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for thee.
25 Naquele tempo, Jesus respondeu: “Eu te agradeço, Pai, Senhor do céu e da terra, que escondeste estas coisas dos sábios e entendidos, e as revelaste aos bebês”.
At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that, though thou didst hide these things from the wise and discerning, thou didst reveal them to babes.
26 Sim, Pai, pois assim foi agradável à tua vista.
Yea, Father, for so it seemed good in thy sight.
27 Todas as coisas me foram entregues por meu Pai. Ninguém conhece o Filho, exceto o Pai; nem ninguém conhece o Pai, exceto o Filho e aquele a quem o Filho deseja revelá-lo.
All things were delivered to me by my Father; and no one knoweth the Son but the Father; nor doth any one know the Father, but the Son, and he to whom it is the will of the Son to reveal him.
28 “Vinde a mim, todos vocês que trabalham e estão sobrecarregados, e eu lhes darei descanso”.
Come to me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29 Tomai sobre vós o meu jugo e aprendei de mim, pois sou manso e humilde de coração; e encontrareis descanso para vossas almas”.
Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am meek and lowly in heart; and ye shall find rest for your souls.
30 Pois o meu jugo é fácil, e meu fardo é leve”.
For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
