Josué 14

1 Estas são as heranças que os filhos de Israel levaram na terra de Canaã, que Eleazar, o sacerdote, Josué, filho de Freira, e os chefes das casas dos pais das tribos dos filhos de Israel, distribuíram a eles,

And these are the countries which the children of Israel obtained as an inheritance in the land of Canaan, which Elazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Nun, and the heads of the divisions of the tribes of the children of Israel, distributed for an inheritance unto them,

2 pelo lote de sua herança, como Iavé ordenou Moisés, para as nove tribos, e para a meia tribo.

By the lot as their inheritance: as the Lord had commanded by the hand of Moses, for the nine tribes, and the half tribe.

3 Pois Moisés havia dado a herança das duas tribos e da meia tribo além do Jordão; mas aos levitas ele não deu nenhuma herança entre eles.

For Moses had given the inheritance of the two tribes and the half tribe on the other side of the Jordan; but unto the Levites he had given no inheritance among them.

4 Para os filhos de José eram duas tribos, Manassés e Efraim. Eles não deram nenhuma parte para os levitas na terra, exceto cidades para morar, com suas terras de pasto para seu gado e para seus bens.

For the children of Joseph were two tribes, Menasseh and Ephraim; therefore they gave no portion unto the Levites in the land, save cities to dwell in, with their open spaces for their cattle and for their substance.

5 Os filhos de Israel fizeram como Javé ordenou a Moisés, e eles dividiram a terra.

As the Lord had commanded Moses, so did the children of Israel, and so divided they the land.

6 Então os filhos de Judá se aproximaram de Josué em Gilgal. Caleb, filho de Jefoné, o quenizita, disse-lhe: “Você sabe o que Javé falou a Moisés, o homem de Deus, sobre mim e sobre você em Kadesh Barnea.

And the children of Judah came near unto Joshua in Gilgal; and Caleb the son of Yephunneh the Kenizzite said unto him, Thou well knowest the word which the Lord spoke unto Moses the man of God concerning me and thyself in Kadesh-barnea'.

7 Eu tinha quarenta anos quando Moisés, servo de Javé, me enviou de Kadesh Barnea para espionar a terra. Trouxe-lhe novamente a palavra como estava em meu coração.

Forty years old was I when Moses the servant of the Lord sent me from Kadesh-barnea' to spy out the land; and I brought him word again as it was in my heart.

8 Nevertheless, meus irmãos que subiram comigo fizeram o coração do povo derreter; mas eu segui totalmente Yahweh, meu Deus.

But my brethren who had gone up with me caused the heart of the people to be faint; but I wholly followed the Lord my God.

9 Moisés jurou naquele dia, dizendo: 'Certamente a terra onde andastes será uma herança para vós e para vossos filhos para sempre, porque seguistes totalmente a Iavé meu Deus'.

And Moses swore on that day, saying, Surely the land whereon thy foot hath trodden shall belong to thee for an inheritance, and to thy children for ever; because thou hast wholly followed the Lord my God.

10 “Agora, eis que Javé me manteve vivo, enquanto falava, estes quarenta e cinco anos, desde que Javé disse esta palavra a Moisés, enquanto Israel caminhava no deserto. Agora, eis que tenho oitenta e cinco anos de idade, hoje.

And now, behold, the Lord hath kept me alive, as he hath spoken: it is now forty and five years since the Lord spoke this word unto Moses, while Israel wandered in the wilderness; and now, behold, I am this day eighty and five years old.

11 Ainda hoje estou tão forte como estava no dia em que Moisés me enviou. Como minha força era então, assim também é minha força agora para a guerra, para sair e para entrar.

I am yet this day as strong as I was on the day that Moses sent me: as my strength was then, even so is my strength now, for war, and to go out, and to come in.

12 Agora, portanto, dê-me este país montanhoso, do qual Yahweh falou naquele dia; pois vocês ouviram naquele dia como os Anakim estavam lá, e cidades grandes e fortificadas. Pode ser que Iavé esteja comigo, e eu os expulsarei, como Iavé disse”.

Now therefore give me this mountain, whereof the Lord spoke on that day; for thou didst hear on that day that the 'Anakim were there, and great fortified cities: perhaps the Lord will be with me, and I shall drive them out, as the Lord hath spoken.

13 Josué o abençoou; e ele deu Hebron a Calebe, filho de Jefonneh, por uma herança.

And Joshua blessed him, and gave Hebron unto Caleb the son of Yephunneh for an inheritance.

14 Portanto, Hebron tornou-se a herança de Calebe, filho de Jefoné, o quenizita, até hoje, porque ele seguiu Yahweh, o Deus de Israel de todo o coração.

Therefore did Hebron become the inheritance of Caleb the son of Yephunneh the Kenizzite unto this day; for the cause that he had wholly followed the Lord the God of Israel.

15 Agora o nome de Hebron antes era Kiriath Arba, depois do maior homem entre os Anakim. Depois a terra teve descanso da guerra.

And the name of Hebron was aforetimes Kiryatharba', who was the greatest man among the 'Anakim. And the land had rest from war.
