1 “Você pode retirar o Leviatã com um anzol de peixe, ou pressionar sua língua com um cordão?
Canst thou draw out leviathan with a hook? or his tongue with a cord [which] thou lettest down?
2 Você pode colocar uma corda em seu nariz, ou trespassar o maxilar com um gancho?
Canst thou put a hook into his nose? or bore his jaw through with a thorn?
3 Ele fará muitas petições a você, ou ele lhe dirá palavras suaves?
Will he make many supplications to thee? will he speak soft [words] to thee?
4 Ele fará um pacto com você, que você deve tomá-lo por um criado para sempre?
Will he make a covenant with thee? wilt thou take him for a servant for ever?
5 Você vai brincar com ele como com um pássaro? Ou você vai amarrá-lo para suas meninas?
Wilt thou play with him as [with] a bird? or wilt thou bind him for thy maidens?
6 Será que os comerciantes trocarão por ele? Será que eles o dividirão entre os comerciantes?
Shall the companions make a banquet of him? shall they part him among the merchants.
7 Can você enche a pele dele com ferros farpados, ou sua cabeça com lanças de peixe?
Canst thou fill his skin with barbed irons? or his head with fish spears?
8 Lay sua mão sobre ele. Lembre-se da batalha, e não faça mais isso.
Lay thy hand upon him, remember the battle, do no more.
9 Eis que a esperança dele é em vão. Não se vai atirar um para baixo mesmo quando o virmos?
Behold, the hope of him is in vain: shall not [one] be cast down even at the sight of him?
10 None é tão feroz que ele se atreve a agitá-lo. Quem é então aquele que pode estar diante de mim?
None [is so] fierce that he dare rouse him: who then is able to stand before me?
11 Quem primeiro me deu, para que eu lhe retribuísse? Tudo sob os céus é meu.
Who hath first benefited me, that I should repay [him]? [whatever is] under the whole heaven is mine.
12 “Não guardarei silêncio a respeito de seus membros, nem sua força poderosa, nem sua boa estrutura.
I will not conceal his parts, nor his power, nor his comely proportion.
13 Quem pode despir sua roupa exterior? Quem vai entrar em suas mandíbulas?
Who can discover the face of his garment? [or] who can come [to him] with his double bridle?
14 Who pode abrir as portas de seu rosto? Ao redor de seus dentes está o terror.
Who can open the doors of his face? his teeth [are] terrible around.
15 Escalas fortes são seu orgulho, calar junto com um selo apertado.
[His] scales [are his] pride, shut together [as with] a close seal.
16 One está tão perto de outro, que nenhum ar pode ficar entre eles.
One is so near to another, that no air can come between them.
17 They estão unidos uns aos outros. Eles ficam juntos, de modo que não podem ser separados.
They are joined one to another, they stick together, that they cannot be sundered.
18 Seus espirros piscam. Seus olhos são como as pálpebras da manhã.
His sneezings flash light, and his eyes [are] like the eyelids of the morning.
19 Out de sua boca vão tochas ardentes. Centelhas de fogo saltam para fora.
Out of his mouth go burning lamps, [and] sparks of fire dart forth.
20 Out de suas narinas uma fumaça vai, como de uma panela fervente sobre um fogo de canas.
Out of his nostrils issueth smoke, as [out] of a seething pot or caldron.
21 Seu hálito faz arrepiar os brasas. Uma chama sai de sua boca.
His breath kindleth coals, and a flame issueth from his mouth.
22 Há força em seu pescoço. O terror dança diante dele.
In his neck remaineth strength, and sorrow is turned into joy before him.
23 Os flocos de sua carne são unidos. Eles são firmes com ele. Eles não podem ser movidos.
The flakes of his flesh are joined together: they are firm in themselves; they cannot be moved.
24 Seu coração é tão firme como uma pedra, sim, firme como a pedra de moinho inferior.
His heart is as firm as a stone; yes, as hard as a piece of the nether [millstone].
25 Quando ele se levanta, os poderosos têm medo. Eles se retiram antes de seu espancamento.
When he raiseth himself, the mighty are afraid: by reason of breakings they purify themselves.
26 Se alguém o ataca com a espada, ela não pode prevalecer; nem a lança, o dardo, nem o eixo pontiagudo.
The sword of him that attacketh him cannot hold: the spear, the dart, nor the habergeon.
27 He conta o ferro como palha, e bronze como madeira podre.
He esteemeth iron as straw, [and] brass as rotten wood.
28 The seta não pode faze-lo fugir. As pedras de fundição são como palha para ele.
The arrow cannot make him flee: sling-stones are turned with him into stubble.
29 Clubs são contados como restolho. Ele ri da pressa do dardo de arremesso.
Darts are counted as stubble: he laugheth at the shaking of a spear.
30 His As partes inferiores são como cacos afiados, deixando um rastro na lama como uma debulhadora.
Sharp stones [are] under him: he spreadeth sharp pointed things upon the mire.
31 He faz o fundo ferver como uma panela. Ele faz o mar como um pote de ungüento.
He maketh the deep to boil like a pot: he maketh the sea like a pot of ointment.
32 He faz brilhar um caminho atrás dele. Poder-se-ia pensar que o fundo tinha cabelos brancos.
He maketh a path to shine after him; [one] would think the deep [to be] hoary.
33 On terra lá não é igual a ele, que é feito sem medo.
Upon earth there is not his like, who is made without fear.
34 He vê tudo que é alto. Ele é rei sobre todos os filhos do orgulho”.
He beholdeth all high [things]: he [is] a king over all the children of pride.
