Jó 2
1 Novamente, no dia em que os filhos de Deus vieram para se apresentar diante de Javé, Satanás também veio entre eles para se apresentar diante de Javé.
And it happened [again] on a certain day, when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, that the Accuser also came in the midst of them to present himself before the Lord.
2 Yahweh disse a Satanás: “De onde você veio?” Satanás respondeu a Javé, e disse: “De ir e vir na terra, e de andar para cima e para baixo nela”.
Then said the Lord unto the Accuser, Whence comest thou now? And the Accuser answered the Lord, and said, From roaming over the earth, and from wandering through it.
3 Yahweh disse a Satanás: “Você já considerou meu servo Jó? Pois não há ninguém como ele na terra, um homem irrepreensível e íntegro, que teme a Deus e se afasta do mal. Ele ainda mantém sua integridade, embora você me tenha incitado contra ele, para arruiná-lo sem causa”.
Then said the Lord unto the Accuser, Hast thou directed thy attention toward my servant Job: for there is none like him on the earth, a man perfect and upright, who feareth God, and escheweth evil? and he is still holding fast to his integrity, and thou hast incited me against him, to destroy him without cause.
4 Satanás respondeu a Yahweh, e disse: “Pele por pele. Sim, tudo o que um homem tem, ele dará por sua vida.
Then answered the Accuser the Lord, and said, Skin for skin: yea, all that a man hath will he give in behalf of his life.
5 Mas estenda sua mão agora, e toque seu osso e sua carne, e ele renunciará a você no seu rosto”.
But stretch only forth thy hand, and touch his bone and his flesh, and [see] whether he will not renounce thee to thy face.
6 Yahweh disse a Satanás: “Eis que ele está em suas mãos”. Poupe apenas sua vida”.
Then said the Lord unto the Accuser, Behold, he is in thy hand: only take care of his life.
7 Assim, Satanás saiu da presença de Javé e atingiu Jó com feridas dolorosas desde a sola do pé até a cabeça.
Thereupon went the Accuser forth from the presence of the Lord, and he smote Job with a sore inflammation, from the sole of his foot unto the crown of his head.
8 Ele tomou para si um caco para se raspar, e sentou-se entre as cinzas.
And [Job] took himself a potsherd to scrape himself there with, while he was sitting down among the ashes.
9 Então sua esposa lhe disse: “Você ainda mantém sua integridade? Renuncie a Deus, e morra”.
Then said his wife unto him, Art thou still holding fast to thy integrity? renounce God, and die.
10 Mas ele disse a ela: “Você fala como uma das mulheres tolas que falariam. O quê? Devemos receber o bem nas mãos de Deus, e não devemos receber o mal?” Em todo este trabalho não pecou com seus lábios.
But he said unto her, Thou speakest as one of the worthless women would speak. What? should we accept the good alone, from God, and the evil we should not accept? With all this did Job not sin with his lips.
11 Agora, quando os três amigos de Jó ouviram falar de todo este mal que tinha vindo sobre ele, cada um deles veio de seu próprio lugar: Elifaz, o Temanita, Bildad, o Shuhite, e Zophar, o Naamatita; e marcaram um encontro para virem juntos para simpatizar com ele e confortá-lo.
When now the three friends of Job had heard of all this evil that was come over him, they came every one from his own place, Eliphaz the Themanite, and Bildad the Shuchite, and Zophar the Na'amthite; and they met together to come to condole with him and to comfort him.
12 Quando levantaram os olhos à distância, e não o reconheceram, levantaram a voz e choraram; e cada um rasgou seu manto e polvilhou poeira na cabeça em direção ao céu.
And when they lifted up their eyes afar off, and they recognised him not, they lifted up their voice, and wept; and they rent every one his robe, and strewed dust upon their heads toward heaven.
13 Assim, sentaram-se com ele no chão sete dias e sete noites, e ninguém lhe dirigiu uma palavra, pois viram que sua dor era muito grande.
They likewise sat down with him on the ground seven days and seven nights; but no one spoke a word unto him; for they saw that his pain was very great.
