Jó 15
1 Então Elifaz, o Temanita, respondeu,
Then answered Eliphaz the Temanite, and said:
2 “Se um homem sábio responder com conhecimento vãos, e se encher com o vento leste?
Should a wise man answer with arguments of wind, Or fill his bosom with the east wind?
3 Should ele raciocina com uma conversa não lucrativa, ou com discursos com os quais ele não pode fazer nenhum bem?
Should he argue with speech that helpeth him not, And with words which do not profit him?
4 Sim, você acaba com o medo, e dificultam a devoção diante de Deus.
Behold, thou makest the fear of God a vain thing, And discouragest prayer before him.
5 Pois sua iniqüidade ensina sua boca, e você escolhe o idioma do astuto.
Yea, thy own mouth proclaimeth thy iniquity, Though thou choosest the tongue of the crafty.
6 Sua própria boca o condena, e não eu. Sim, seus próprios lábios testemunham contra você.
Thy own mouth condemneth thee, and not I; Thy own lips testify against thee.
7 “Você é o primeiro homem que nasceu? Ou você foi trazido para fora antes das colinas?
Art thou the first man that was born? Wast thou formed before the hills?
8 Você já ouviu o conselho secreto de Deus? Você limita a sabedoria a si mesmo?
Hast thou listened in the council of God, And drawn all wisdom to thyself?
9 O que você sabe que nós não sabemos? O que você entende que não está em nós?
What dost thou know, that we know not also? What dost thou understand, that is a secret to us?
10 Conosco estão tanto os homens de cabeça cinzenta quanto os muito idosos, muito mais velho que seu pai.
With us are the aged and hoary-headed; Much older than thy father.
11 Os consolos de Deus são pequenos demais para você, mesmo a palavra que é gentil para você?
Dost thou despise the consolations of God, And words so full of kindness to thee?
12 Por que seu coração o leva embora? Por que seus olhos piscam,
Why hath thy passion taken possession of thee? And why this winking of thine eyes?
13 que você vira seu espírito contra Deus, e deixar que tais palavras saiam de sua boca?
For against God hast thou turned thy spirit, And uttered such words from thy mouth.
14 O que é o homem, que ele deve estar limpo? O que é aquele que nasce de uma mulher, que deve ser justo?
What is man, that he should be pure, And he that is born of woman, that he should be innocent?
15 Eis que ele não deposita nenhuma confiança em seus santos. Sim, os céus não estão limpos à sua vista;
Behold, He putteth no trust in his ministering spirits, And the heavens are not pure in his sight;
16 o quanto menos um que é abominável e corrupto, um homem que bebe iniquidade como água!
Much less, abominable and polluted man, Who drinketh iniquity as water.
17 “Eu lhes mostrarei, escutem-me; o que vi eu declararei
Hear me, and I will show thee, And that which I have seen will I declare;
18 (o que os sábios disseram por seus pais, e não o esconderam;
Which the wise men have told, And not kept concealed, as received from their fathers;
19 a quem somente a terra foi dada, e nenhum desconhecido passou entre eles):
To whom alone the land was given, And among whom not a stranger wandered.
20 o malvado se contorce de dor todos os seus dias, mesmo o número de anos que são passados para o opressor.
“All his days the wicked man is in pain; Yea, all the years, that are laid up for the oppressor.
21 Um som de terrores está em seus ouvidos. Na prosperidade, o destruidor virá sobre ele.
A fearful sound is in his ears; In peace the destroyer cometh upon him.
22 Ele não acredita que voltará da escuridão. Ele é esperado pela espada.
He hath no hope that he shall escape from darkness; He is set apart for the sword.
23 Ele vagueia pelo exterior em busca de pão, dizendo: “Onde ele está? Ele sabe que o dia da escuridão está pronto em suas mãos.
He wandereth about, seeking bread; He knoweth that a day of darkness is at hand.
24 A angústia e a angústia o fazem ter medo. Eles prevalecem contra ele, como um rei pronto para a batalha.
Distress and anguish fill him with dread; They prevail against him like a king ready for the battle.
25 Porque ele estendeu sua mão contra Deus, e se comporta orgulhosamente contra o Todo-Poderoso,
Because he stretched forth his hand against God, And bade defiance to the Almighty,
26 he corre contra ele com um pescoço duro, com os escudos grossos de seus fivelas,
And ran against him with outstretched neck, With the thick bosses of his bucklers;
27 porque ele cobriu seu rosto com sua gordura, e recolheu gordura em suas coxas.
Because he covered his face with fatness, And gathered fat upon his loins,
28 Ele viveu em cidades desoladas, em casas que ninguém habitava, que estavam prontos para se tornarem montões.
And dwelt in desolated cities, In houses which no man inhabiteth, That are ready to become heaps.
29 Ele não será rico, nem sua substância continuará, nem seus pertences serão estendidos sobre a terra.
He shall not be rich; his substance shall not endure, And his possessions shall not be extended upon the earth.
30 Ele não sairá da escuridão. A chama secará seus galhos. Ele irá embora pelo sopro da boca de Deus.
He shall not escape from darkness, And the flame shall dry up his branches; Yea, by the breath of His mouth shall he be taken away.
31 Que ele não confie no vazio, enganando-se a si mesmo, para o vazio será sua recompensa.
“Let not man trust in vanity! he will be deceived; For vanity shall be his recompense.
32 Será realizado antes de seu tempo. Seu ramo não será verde.
He shall come to his end before his time, And his branch shall not be green.
33 He vai sacudir sua uva não madura como a videira, e lançará fora sua flor como a oliveira.
He shall shake off his unripe fruit like the vine, And shed his blossoms like the olive-tree.
34 Para a empresa dos sem Deus será estéril, e o fogo consumirá as barracas de suborno.
The house of the unrighteous shall be famished, And fire shall consume the tents of bribery.
35 Eles concebem a maldade e produzem a iniqüidade. O coração deles prepara o engano”.
They conceive mischief, and bring forth misery, And their breast deviseth deceit.”
