Jeremias 1
1 As palavras de Jeremias, filho de Hilkiah, um dos sacerdotes que estiveram em Anathoth, na terra de Benjamin.
The words of Jeremiah, the son of Hilkiah, one of the priests, who dwelt in Anathoth in the land of Benjamin;
2 A palavra de Javé chegou a ele nos dias de Josias, filho de Amon, rei de Judá, no décimo terceiro ano de seu reinado.
to whom the word of Jehovah came in the days of Josiah, the son of Amon, king of Judah, in the thirteenth year of his reign;
3 Veio também nos dias de Jeoiaquim, filho de Josias, rei de Judá, ao final do décimo primeiro ano de Zedequias, filho de Josias, rei de Judá, para levar Jerusalém em cativeiro no quinto mês.
to whom it also came in the days of Jehoiakim, the son of Josiah, king of Judah, until the end of the eleventh year of Zedekiah, the son of Josiah, king of Judah, until the carrying away of Jerusalem into captivity in the fifth month.
4 Agora a palavra de Javé veio até mim, dizendo,
The word of Jehovah came to me, saying:
5 “Antes de formá-lo no útero, eu o conhecia. Antes de você nascer, eu o santificei. Eu vos nomeei profeta para as nações”.
Before I formed thee in the womb, I knew thee; and before thou camest into the world, I chose thee; I appointed thee to be a prophet to the nations.
6 Então eu disse: “Ah, Senhor Yahweh! Eis que eu não sei falar; pois sou uma criança”.
Then said I, Alas, O Lord Jehovah! Behold, I am not able to speak; for I am a child.
7 Mas Javé me disse: “Não diga: 'Eu sou uma criança', pois você deve ir a quem eu lhe enviar, e você deve dizer o que eu lhe ordenar”.
But Jehovah said to me, Say not, I am a child; but go to whomever I send thee, and speak whatever I command thee!
8 Não tenha medo por causa deles, pois eu estou com você para resgatá-lo”, diz Yahweh.
Be not afraid of them! For I am with thee to help thee, saith Jehovah.
9 Então Yahweh estendeu sua mão e tocou minha boca. Então Javé me disse: “Eis que eu pus minhas palavras em sua boca”.
Then Jehovah put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. Jehovah also said to me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth.
10 Eis que hoje te pus sobre as nações e sobre os reinos, para desarraigar e derrubar, destruir e derrubar, construir e plantar”.
Behold, I have set thee this day over nations and over kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to overthrow; and to build, and to plant.
11 Além disso, a palavra de Javé veio até mim, dizendo: “Jeremias, o que você vê?”. Eu disse: “Eu vejo um ramo de uma amendoeira”.
Then the word of Jehovah came to me, saying, What seest thou, Jeremiah? And I said, I see a rod of almond-wood.
12 Então Yahweh me disse: “Você viu bem; pois eu cuido da minha palavra para cumpri-la”.
And Jehovah said to me, Thou hast seen right; for I am watchful over my word to perform it.
13 A palavra de Yahweh veio até mim pela segunda vez, dizendo: “O que você vê?” Eu disse: “Eu vejo um caldeirão fervente; e ele está se afastando do norte”.
And the word of Jehovah came to me a second time, saying, What seest thou? And I said, I see a boiling pot, whose face is turned from the north.
14 Então Yahweh me disse: “Do norte, o mal vai se espalhar sobre todos os habitantes da terra”.
And Jehovah said to me, From the north shall evil break forth upon all the inhabitants of the land.
15 Pois eis que chamarei todas as famílias dos reinos do norte”, diz Yahweh. “Eles virão, e cada um colocará seu trono na entrada dos portões de Jerusalém, e contra todas as suas muralhas ao redor, e contra todas as cidades de Judá.
For, behold, I will call all the tribes of the kingdoms of the north, saith Jehovah; and they shall come, and shall set every one his throne at the entrance of the gates of Jerusalem, and against all her walls around, and against all the cities of Judah.
16 Vou pronunciar meus juízos contra eles a respeito de toda sua maldade, no que eles me abandonaram, e queimaram incenso para outros deuses, e adoravam as obras de suas próprias mãos.
And I will pronounce my judgments against them for all their wickedness, in that they have forsaken me, and have burned incense to other gods, and worshipped the work of their own hands.
17 “Portanto, coloque seu cinto na cintura, levante-se, e diga a eles tudo o que eu lhe ordeno. Não fique consternado com eles, para que eu não o desanime diante deles.
Thou, therefore, gird up thy loins, and arise, and speak to them all that I command thee; be not afraid of them, lest I confound thee before them.
18 Pois eis que hoje vos fiz uma cidade fortificada, um pilar de ferro e muros de bronze contra toda a terra - contra os reis de Judá, contra seus príncipes, contra seus sacerdotes e contra o povo da terra.
For, behold, I make thee this day a fortified city, and a pillar of iron, and a wall of brass against all this land, against the kings of Judah, against the princes thereof, against the priests thereof, and against the people of the land.
19 Eles lutarão contra vocês, mas não prevalecerão contra vocês; pois eu estou com vocês”, diz Javé, “para resgatá-los”.
They shall fight against thee, but they shall not prevail against thee; for I will be with thee, saith Jehovah, to help thee.
