Jeremias 2
1 A palavra de Javé veio até mim, dizendo:
Moreover the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
2 “Vá e proclame aos ouvidos de Jerusalém, dizendo: 'Javé diz, “Lembro para você a gentileza de sua juventude, seu amor como uma noiva, como você foi atrás de mim no deserto, em uma terra que não foi semeada.
Go and cry in the ears of Jerusalem, saying, Thus says the LORD; I remember you, the kindness of your youth, the love of your espousals, when you went after me in the wilderness, in a land that was not sown.
3 Israel era santidade para Yahweh, os primeiros frutos de seu aumento. Todos os que o devorarem serão considerados culpados. O mal virá sobre eles”, diz Yahweh”.
Israel was holiness unto the LORD, and the first-fruits of his increase: all that devour him shall offend; evil shall come upon them, says the LORD.
4 Ouça a palavra de Javé, ó casa de Jacó, e de todas as famílias da casa de Israel!
Hear all of you the word of the LORD, O house of Jacob, and all the families of the house of Israel:
5 diz Yahweh, “Que iniquidade seus pais encontraram em mim”, que eles foram longe de mim, e caminharam depois de uma vaidade sem valor, e se tornaram inúteis?
Thus says the LORD, What iniquity have your fathers found in me, that they are gone far from me, and have walked after vanity, and are become vain?
6 Eles não disseram: 'Onde está Javé que nos tirou da terra do Egito', que nos conduziu através do deserto, através de uma terra de desertos e de fossos, através de uma terra de seca e da sombra da morte, através de uma terra por onde ninguém passava, e onde nenhum homem vivia'?
Neither said they, Where is the LORD that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, that led us through the wilderness, through a land of deserts and of pits, through a land of drought, and of the shadow of death, through a land that no man passed through, and where no man dwelt?
7 Eu o trouxe para uma terra abundante para comer seus frutos e sua bondade; mas quando você entrou, você contaminou minha terra, e fez de minha herança uma abominação.
And I brought you into a plentiful country, to eat the fruit thereof and the goodness thereof; but when all of you entered, all of you defiled my land, and made mine heritage an abomination.
8 Os padres não disseram: “Onde está Yahweh?”. e aqueles que lidam com a lei não me conheciam. Os governantes também transgrediram contra mim, e os profetas profetizados por Ba'al e seguiu coisas que não lucram.
The priests said not, Where is the LORD? and they that handle the law knew me not: the pastors also transgressed against me, and the prophets prophesied by Baal, and walked after things that do not profit.
9 “Portanto, ainda vou contender com você”, diz Yahweh, “e eu lutarei com os filhos de seus filhos”.
Wherefore I will yet plead with you, says the LORD, and with your children's children will I plead.
10 Para passar para as ilhas de Kittim, e veja. Envie para Kedar, e considere com diligência, e ver se isso já existiu.
For pass over the isles of Chittim, and see; and send unto Kedar, and consider diligently, and see if there be such a thing.
11 Tem uma nação que mudou seus deuses, que realmente não são deuses? Mas meu povo mudou sua glória por aquilo que não beneficia.
Has a nation changed their gods, which are yet no gods? but my people have changed their glory for that which does not profit.
12 “Fiquem surpreendidos, vocês, céus, com isto e ter um medo horrível. Seja muito desolado”, diz Yahweh.
Be astonished, O all of you heavens, at this, and be horribly afraid, be all of you very desolate, says the LORD.
13 “Pois meu povo cometeu dois males: eles me abandonaram, a fonte das águas vivas, e cortam cisternas para si mesmos: cisternas quebradas que não conseguem segurar água.
For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.
14 Israel é um escravo? Ele nasceu na escravidão? Por que ele se tornou um cativo?
Is Israel a servant? is he a native slave? why is he spoiled?
15 Os jovens leões rugiram para ele e levantaram suas vozes. Eles fizeram de sua terra um desperdício. Suas cidades estão incendiadas, sem habitantes.
The young lions roared upon him, and yelled, and they made his land waste: his cities are burned without inhabitant.
16 As crianças também de Memphis e Tahpanhes quebraram a coroa de sua cabeça.
Also the children of Noph and Tahapanes have broken the crown of your head.
17 “Você não trouxe isto a si mesmo, em que você abandonou Yahweh seu Deus, quando ele o conduziu pelo caminho?
Have you not procured this unto yourself, in that you have forsaken the LORD your God, when he led you by the way?
18 Agora, o que você ganha indo ao Egito, para beber as águas do Shihor? Ou por que você deve ir a caminho da Assíria, para beber as águas do rio?
And now what have you to do in the way of Egypt, to drink the waters of Sihor? or what have you to do in the way of Assyria, to drink the waters of the river?
19 “Sua própria maldade irá corrigi-lo, e seu recuo irá repreendê-lo. Saiba e veja, portanto, que é uma coisa má e amarga, que você abandonou Yahweh seu Deus, e que meu medo não esteja em você”, diz o Senhor, Javé dos Exércitos.
your own wickedness shall correct you, and your backslidings shall reprove you: know therefore and see that it is an evil thing and bitter, that you have forsaken the LORD your God, and that my fear is not in you, says the Lord GOD of hosts.
20 “Há muito tempo eu quebrei o seu jugo, e romper seus laços. Você disse: “Eu não vou servir; em cada colina alta e sob cada árvore verde que você mesmo se curvou, fazendo-se de prostituta.
For of old time I have broken your yoke, and burst your bands; and you said, I will not transgress; when upon every high hill and under every green tree you wander, playing the harlot.
21 Yet Eu tinha plantado uma nobre videira para você, uma semente pura e fiel. Como então você se tornou para mim os ramos degenerados de uma videira estrangeira?
Yet I had planted you a noble vine, wholly a right seed: how then are you turned into the degenerate plant of a strange vine unto me?
22 Pois embora você se lave com lixívia, e usar muito sabão, no entanto, sua iniquidade está marcada diante de mim”, diz o Senhor Yahweh.
For though you wash you with alkali, and take you much soap, yet your iniquity is marked before me, says the Lord GOD.
23 “Como você pode dizer: 'Eu não estou contaminado'. Eu não fui atrás dos Baals'? Veja seu caminho no vale. Saiba o que você tem feito. Você é um rápido dromedário percorrendo seus caminhos,
How can you say, I am not polluted, I have not gone after Baalim? see your way in the valley, know what you have done: you are a swift dromedary traversing her ways;
24 um burro selvagem acostumado com a natureza, que fareja o vento em sua ânsia. Quando ela está no cio, quem pode recusá-la? Todos aqueles que a procuram não se cansarão. Em seu mês, eles a encontrarão.
A wild ass used to the wilderness, that snuffs up the wind at her pleasure; in her occasion who can turn her away? all they that seek her will not weary themselves; in her month they shall find her.
25 “Não fique com os pés descalços, e sua garganta da sede. Mas você disse: “É em vão”. Não, pois eu amei estranhos, e eu irei atrás deles”.
Withhold your foot from being unshod, and your throat from thirst: but you said, There is no hope: no; for I have loved strangers, and after them will I go.
26 Como o ladrão se envergonha quando é encontrado, por isso a casa de Israel está envergonhada... eles, seus reis, seus príncipes, seus sacerdotes e seus profetas,
As the thief is ashamed when he is found, so is the house of Israel ashamed; they, their kings, their princes, and their priests, and their prophets.
27 que dizem à madeira: 'Você é meu pai'. e uma pedra, 'Você me deu à luz'. pois eles viraram as costas para mim, e não a cara deles, mas no momento de seus problemas eles dirão: “Levantem-se e nos salvem!
Saying to a stock, You are my father; and to a stone, You have brought me forth: for they have turned their back unto me, and not their face: but in the time of their trouble they will say, Arise, and save us.
28 “Mas onde estão seus deuses que vocês fizeram para si mesmos? Deixe-os surgir, se eles puderem salvá-lo no tempo de seu problema, pois você tem tantos deuses quanto cidades, ó Judá.
But where are your gods that you have made you? let them arise, if they can save you in the time of your trouble: for according to the number of your cities are your gods, O Judah.
29 “Por que você vai contender comigo? Todos vocês transgrediram contra mim”, diz Yahweh.
Wherefore will all of you plead with me? all of you all have transgressed against me, says the LORD.
30 “Eu bati em seus filhos em vão. Eles não receberam nenhuma correção. Sua própria espada devorou seus profetas, como um leão destruidor.
In vain have I smitten your children; they received no correction: your own sword has devoured your prophets, like a destroying lion.
31 Geração, considere a palavra de Yahweh. Eu tenho sido um sertão selvagem para Israel? Ou uma terra de escuridão espessa? Por que meu povo diz: “Nós nos soltamos”. Não iremos mais até você”?
O generation, see all of you the word of the LORD. Have I been a wilderness unto Israel? a land of darkness? wherefore say my people, We are lords; we will come no more unto you?
32 “Uma virgem pode esquecer seus enfeites, ou uma noiva com seus trajes? No entanto, meu povo me esqueceu por dias sem número.
Can a maid forget her ornaments, or a bride her attire? yet my people have forgotten me days without number.
33 Como você prepara bem seu caminho para buscar o amor! Portanto, você até ensinou seus caminhos às mulheres perversas.
Why trim you your way to seek love? therefore have you also taught the wicked ones your ways.
34 Também o sangue das almas dos pobres inocentes é encontrado em suas saias. Você não os encontrou arrombando a porta, mas é por causa de todas essas coisas.
Also in your skirts is found the blood of the souls of the poor innocent persons: I have not found it by secret search, but upon all these.
35 “No entanto, o senhor disse: 'Estou inocente'. Certamente sua raiva se desviou de mim”. “Eis que eu o julgarei”, porque você diz: “Eu não pequei”.
Yet you say, Because I am innocent, surely his anger shall turn from me. Behold, I will plead with you, because you say, I have not sinned.
36 Por que você se esforça tanto para mudar seus caminhos? Você também terá vergonha do Egito, como você tinha vergonha da Assíria.
Why arm you about so much to change your way? you also shall be ashamed of Egypt, as you were ashamed of Assyria.
37 Você também deixará esse lugar com as mãos na cabeça; pois Yahweh rejeitou aqueles em quem você confia, e você não prosperará com eles.
Yea, you shall go forth from him, and your hands upon your head: for the LORD has rejected your confidences, and you shall not prosper in them.
