Jeremias 14
1 Esta é a palavra de Iavé que chegou a Jeremias a respeito da seca:
The word of Jehovah, which came to Jeremiah concerning a drought.
2 “Judah está de luto, e seus portões enfraquecem. Eles se sentam de preto no chão. O grito de Jerusalém sobe.
Judah mourneth, And the gates thereof languish; They are in deep mourning upon the ground. And the cry of Jerusalem goeth up.
3 Seus nobres enviam seus pequenos para as águas. Eles vêm para as cisternas, e não encontrar água. Eles retornam com seus recipientes vazios. Eles estão decepcionados e confusos, e cobrir suas cabeças.
The nobles send their younger ones for water; They come to the wells, they find none; They return with their vessels empty; They are ashamed and confounded; They cover their heads.
4 Por causa do chão que está rachado, porque não tem chovido na terra, os lavradores estão desapontados. Eles cobrem suas cabeças.
Because of the ground, which is in consternation, No rain falling upon the earth, The husbandmen are ashamed, They hide their heads.
5 Sim, a corça no campo também cria e abandona suas crias, porque não há grama.
Even the hind in the field is delivered, And deserteth her young, Because there is no grass.
6 Os burros selvagens ficam em pé nas alturas nus. Eles ofegam pelo ar como chacais. Seus olhos falham, porque não há vegetação.
The wild asses stand upon the hills, They snuff up the wind like jackals; Their eyes fail, Because there is no grass.
7 Embora nossas iniqüidades testemunhem contra nós, trabalhe pelo seu nome, Yahweh; para nossas rebeliões são muitas. Nós pecamos contra você.
Though our iniquities testify against us, Yet do thou, O Jehovah, act from a regard to thine own name. For our transgressions have been many; We have sinned against thee.
8 Você espera de Israel, seu Salvador no momento de problemas, por que você deveria ser como estrangeiro na terra, e como um homem de passagem que se vira para ficar por uma noite?
O thou hope of Israel, His saviour in the time of trouble, Why wilt thou be as a stranger in the land, As a traveller who spreadeth his tent to pass the night?
9 Por que você deve ser como um homem assustado? como um homem poderoso que não pode salvar? No entanto, você, Javé, está no meio de nós, e somos chamados pelo seu nome. Não nos deixe.
Why wilt thou be as a man that is amazed, As a hero that cannot save? Thou art in the midst of us, O Jehovah, And we are called by thy name; Do not forsake us!
10 diz Yahweh a este povo: “Mesmo assim, eles adoraram passear. Eles não restringiram seus pés. Portanto Yahweh não os aceita. Agora ele vai se lembrar da iniqüidade deles, e castigá-los por seus pecados”.
Thus saith Jehovah concerning this people: Thus they love to wander, They restrain not their feet; Therefore Jehovah doth not accept them; Now will he remember their iniquities, And punish their sins.
11 Yahweh me disse: “Não reze por este povo para o seu bem”.
Then said Jehovah to me: Pray not for this people for their good!
12 Quando jejuarem, não ouvirei seu grito; e quando oferecerem holocausto e oferta de refeição, não os aceitarei; mas os consumirei pela espada, pela fome e pela pestilência”.
Though they fast, I will not hear their cry; Though they offer burnt-offerings and flour-offerings, I will not accept them; But by the sword, and by famine, and by pestilence, I will make an end of them.
13 Então eu disse: “Ah, Senhor Yahweh! Eis que os profetas lhes dizem: 'Não vereis a espada, nem tereis fome; mas eu vos darei paz assegurada neste lugar'”.
Then said I, Alas! O Lord Jehovah! Behold, the prophets say to them, “Ye shall not see the sword, Nor shall famine come upon you; But Jehovah will give you lasting peace in this place.”
14 Então Yahweh me disse: “Os profetas profetizam em meu nome”. Eu não os enviei. Eu não os mandei. Eu não falei com eles. Eles lhe profetizam uma visão mentirosa, uma adivinhação, uma coisa de nada, e o engano de seu próprio coração.
Then said Jehovah to me: The prophets prophesy lies in my name; I have not sent them, nor commissioned them, nor spoken to them; A false vision, and divination, and vanity, And the fraud of their hearts, do they prophesy to you.
15 Portanto Yahweh diz a respeito dos profetas que profetizam em meu nome, mas eu não os enviei, mas eles dizem: “A espada e a fome não estarão nesta terra”. Esses profetas serão consumidos pela espada e pela fome.
Therefore thus saith Jehovah concerning the prophets Who prophesy in my name, though I sent them not, But who themselves say, “The sword and famine shall not be in this land”: By the sword and by famine shall those prophets be consumed.
16 O povo a quem eles profetizam será expulso nas ruas de Jerusalém por causa da fome e da espada. Eles não terão ninguém para enterrá-los - eles, suas esposas, seus filhos ou suas filhas, pois derramarei sobre eles a sua maldade.
And the people to whom they prophesy Shall be cast forth in the streets of Jerusalem By means of famine and the sword; And they shall have none to bury them, —They, their wives, and their sons, and their daughters; For I will pour their wickedness upon them.
17 “Você dirá esta palavra a eles: “'Deixe meus olhos correrem para baixo com lágrimas noite e dia, e não os deixem parar; para a filha virgem do meu povo é quebrada com uma grande brecha, com uma ferida muito dolorosa.
Thus also shalt thou speak to them: My eyes shall run down with tears night and day; They shall not cease; For a deep wound hath she received, The virgin daughter of my people, A deadly blow.
18 Se eu saio para o campo, então veja, o morto com a espada! Se eu entrar na cidade, então eis que aqueles que estão doentes de fome! Tanto para o profeta como para o sacerdote, andam por aí na terra, e não têm conhecimento”.
If I go forth into the fields, Then behold them that are slain by the sword! And if I enter the city, Then behold them that pine with famine! Both prophet and priest wander about the land, they know not whither.
19 Você rejeitou totalmente Judah? Sua alma abominava Zion? Por que você nos atingiu, e não há cura para nós? Buscamos a paz, mas nada de bom veio; e por um tempo de cura, e eis que o desânimo!
Hast thou utterly rejected Judah? Doth thy soul abhor Zion? Why hast thou smitten us, so that there is no healing for us! We look for peace, and there is no good, For a time of healing, and behold, terror!
20 Reconhecemos, Yahweh, nossa maldade, e a iniqüidade de nossos pais; pois pecamos contra você.
We acknowledge, O Jehovah, our wickedness, And the iniquity of our fathers; For we have sinned against thee.
21 Não nos abomine, por causa de seu nome. Não desonre o trono de sua glória. Lembre-se, e não quebre seu pacto conosco.
Do not spurn us, for thy name's sake! Do not dishonor thy glorious throne! Call to mind, break not, thy covenant with us!
22 Há alguma entre as vaidades das nações que possa causar chuva? Ou o céu pode dar chuveiros? Você não é ele, Yahweh nosso Deus? Portanto, esperaremos por você; pois você fez todas essas coisas.
Are there among the vanities of the nations any that can cause rain? Or can the heavens give showers? Art not thou he, O Jehovah, our God? Therefore in thee will we trust, For thou hast made all these things!
