1 Meus irmãos, não guardem a fé de nosso glorioso Senhor Jesus Cristo com parcialidade.
My brothers, practice your faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, without showing partiality.
2 Pois se entrar em sua sinagoga um homem com um anel de ouro, em roupa fina, e entrar também um pobre homem em roupa suja,
Suppose a man in fine clothing comes into your assembly wearing a gold ring, and a poor man in filthy clothing also comes in.
3 e você prestar atenção especial àquele que veste a roupa fina e diz: “Sente-se aqui em um bom lugar”; e você diz ao pobre homem: “Fique aí” ou “Sente-se ao pé do meu escabelo”
If you pay attention to the man who is wearing fine clothing and say to him, “Yoʋ sit here in a good place,” but you say to the poor man, “Yoʋ stand there, or sit here under my footstool,”
4 haven você não mostra parcialidade entre vocês, e se torna juiz com pensamentos malignos?
have you not made distinctions among yourselves and become judges with evil thoughts?
5 Escutem, meus queridos irmãos. Deus não escolheu aqueles que são pobres neste mundo para serem ricos na fé e herdeiros do Reino que ele prometeu àqueles que o amam?
Listen, my beloved brothers, has not God chosen the poor of the world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom that he has promised to those who love him?
6 Mas vocês desonraram o pobre homem. Os ricos não o oprimem e o arrastam pessoalmente diante dos tribunais?
But you have dishonored the poor man. Is it not the rich who oppress you? Are they not the ones who drag you into court?
7 Eles não blasfemam o honorável nome pelo qual você é chamado?
Do they not blaspheme the good name by which you are called?
8 Entretanto, se você cumprir a lei real de acordo com a Escritura: “Amarás o teu próximo como a ti mesmo”, você se sai bem.
If you really fulfill the royal law according to the Scripture, “Yoʋ shall love yoʋr neighbor as yoʋrself,” you do well.
9 Mas se você demonstrar parcialidade, você comete pecado, sendo condenado pela lei como transgressor.
But if you show partiality, you commit sin and are convicted by the law as transgressors.
10 Para quem cumpre toda a lei, e ainda tropeça em um ponto, ele se tornou culpado de todos.
For whoever keeps the entire law but stumbles in one point has become guilty of it all.
11 Para aquele que disse: “Não cometa adultério”, também disse: “Não cometa assassinato”. Agora, se não comete adultério, mas mata, tornou-se um transgressor da lei.
For he who said, “Yoʋ shall not commit adultery,” also said, “Yoʋ shall not murder.” Now if yoʋ do not commit adultery but do commit murder, yoʋ have become a transgressor of the law.
12 Assim fala e assim faz como homens que devem ser julgados pela lei da liberdade.
Speak and act as those who will be judged by the law of liberty.
13 Pois o julgamento é sem misericórdia para aquele que não demonstrou misericórdia. A misericórdia triunfa sobre o julgamento.
For judgment is without mercy to anyone who has not shown mercy; mercy triumphs over judgment.
14 De que serve, meus irmãos, se um homem diz ter fé, mas não tem obras? A fé pode salvá-lo?
What is the benefit, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him?
15 E se um irmão ou irmã estiver nu e sem comida diária,
If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacks daily food,
16 e um de vocês lhes disser: “Vão em paz”. Sejam aquecidos e cheios”; no entanto, vocês não lhes deram as coisas que o corpo precisa, de que lhes serve?
and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them anything to address their physical needs, what is the benefit?
17 Mesmo assim, a fé, se não tem obras, está morta em si mesma.
In the same way faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.
18 Sim, um homem dirá: “Você tem fé, e eu tenho obras”. Mostre-me sua fé sem obras, e eu lhe mostrarei minha fé por minhas obras.
But someone will say, “Yoʋ have faith, and I have works.” Show me yoʋr faith by yoʋr works, and I, by my works, will show yoʋ my faith.
19 Você acredita que Deus é um só. Você se sai bem. Os demônios também acreditam - e estremecem.
Yoʋ believe that God is one; yoʋ do well. Even the demons believe—and shudder!
20 Mas você quer saber, homem vaidoso, que a fé, além das obras, está morta?
Do yoʋ want to be shown, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead?
21 Não foi Abraão nosso pai justificado pelas obras, na medida em que ofereceu Isaac seu filho no altar?
Was not our father Abraham justified by works when he offered his son Isaac on the altar?
22 Você vê que a fé trabalhou com suas obras, e por obras a fé foi aperfeiçoada.
Do yoʋ see how faith was active along with his works, and by works his faith was brought to completion?
23 Assim se cumpriu a Escritura que diz: “Abraão acreditou em Deus, e isso foi considerado a ele como justiça”, e ele foi chamado de amigo de Deus.
And the Scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness,” and he was called a friend of God.
24 Vê-se então que pelas obras um homem é justificado, e não apenas pela fé.
You see then that a person is justified by works, and not by faith alone.
25 Da mesma forma, não era Rahab a prostituta também justificada pelas obras quando recebeu os mensageiros e os enviou de outro modo?
In the same way, was not Rahab the prostitute also justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out by another way?
26 Pois como o corpo à parte do espírito está morto, mesmo assim, a fé à parte das obras está morta.
For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is also dead.
